You can still use the DLC cosmetics freely with AH disabled. Disabling a DLC only removes the missions, gear and cosmetics can still be attained.
That sucks- even if I have a save from before I first started the initial Viper King mission, will I have to restart completely?
Don't do that first mission and they don't spawn.
I quite enjoy the Alien Rulers, to be honest. The suits they provide are fun, if hilariously tacky, too.
The Viper King one without the goofy helmet, for example, is pretty stylish with its cape-scarf thing.
Sadly they read their audience wrong. People wanted Mil sim and tacticool content. What they gave us instead while really nice quality to look at, just dont fit in.
I'd like to fight the Rulers, i'm just not going to spend more than a couple of £ on them.

When you say 'disable' how exactly do you go about doing that? I've tried the whole option slider thing, but that doesn't switch it off.
Why there isn't a just a tick-box when starting a game in the first place anyway is beyond me.

But there should be, unless you start a new game and select Start Strategy Debug instead of new game, which only happens when you load the game in debug mode.
Otherwise, I don't know why you aren't seeing it if you are playing the release version.
Yeah uh Chicken when you start a new playthrough there's options to disable the Alien Hunter and Shen's Last Gift DLCs.

Yeah, I'm seeing that now- I must've skipped it somehow (maybe it had something to do with the tutorial? idk)
I've started over, this time with Alien Hunters disabled- so I have access to the (pretty broken-looking) weapons and whatnot, but the Kings will never spawn?

I didn't mind it honestly, because if I want tacticool, I just download Capnbubs or any of the armor mods from other games. The DLC's give me access to some Great stuff that I'd never get from mods (and some hilariously hideous stuff for when I want to go full ham).

And to top it all off beagle has apparently released a third video today alone.
All is right with xcom.
Looking for stuff to get for Christmas, is any of the DLC worth it? For the resistance pack, does the "survivor of the old war" just mean you get a character for the character pool, or does it stick that into your actual playthroughs? If it does, is there any way to disable that and just get the customization options?
Here's something I'm planning on doing next year, merging every conventional weapon into one singular pack for XCom 2's expansion pack. Internal name is Project Phoenix for now because I can't think of a good name for it:
http://pastebin.com/x1cDSH2b
Highlights:
* Invert all gloss maps for every FNV weapon port (Stoy79, Millenia).
* Redo every attachment for every weapon. Attachments will have the root bone relocated, and the weapons will have new sockets for attachment points.
* Figure out if we can re-use some of MWRs Optics and such for certain weapons that need it.
* Animations. Re-use certain weapon animations that I've created for specific kinds of weapons (Kalashs and its derivatives, AR-15s and its derivatives). New soldier animations are out of my skillset.
* Combine several redundant textures and materials into several packages for certain weapons made by different authors.
* INI overhaul, for more versitality and such like from Krakah's CV Weapon Pack.
* Add some more weapons. Some IW/MWR stuff, Millenia's and maybe Stoy79's.
* Optional: New attachments, such as a grenade launcher, for certain weapons. UB grenade launchers will have to have its own category just to fire a non-bouncing grenade.
* Optional [WIP]: Attachments are re-done. They give abilities with both bonuses and penalties:
-Free Kill has a higher chance to insta-kill when concealed. No insta-kills when detected.
-Optics will no longer be pooled. They'll be separated, with its own abilities and perks.
-Reflex sights: +AIM, +Reaction fire.
-Holosights/AC11090/EOD: +AIM, +Range.
-Red Dot/Kobra: +AIM, +CRITCHANCE.
-2x Scope/PO4x24: +AIM, +Range.
-Scopes/Mark IV/PO4x24: +AIM, +CRITCHANCE, -AIM and -CRITCHANCE if fired too close (1-3 Tiles).
-1PN34: +AIM: Increases at nighttime. (May not be possible)
-Stock Upgrades will grant mobility bonuses and maybe free action.
-Miss Damage is transferred from attachments to ammo.
-Free Reload is the same, except only works for every odd reload. (1, 3, 5). Even reloads will use an action. (Possible)
-Extended Magazine is the same.
Important note: I didn't realize that NV used gloss instead of roughness. What that means is that all of my FNV ports are messed up and will have to be redone. I'm not planning on fixing 20+ mods and taking new screenshots for every one of those; that'll take forever with little time that I have. I rather focus on packing everything up into one mod and maintaining it for the next expansion pack.

I sold a bunch of trading cards and stuff to buy the resistance pack, it's a bit of a weird one and not really what i wanted. It's not tied to any soldiers but you can't access the new cosmetic items through the main menu charecter pool, you have to do it inside a campaign while on the avenger. i'll hop in and take a screen shot quickly to better explain it.
I did the first mission got back to have a look at my roster, nothing was out of the ordinary, I then went and scanned for the rookies at the enclave and this is what my roster looked like afterwards.

Dieter Haufman is not one of my own, his stats atm appear the same as any other rook but his his appearance is notably different. He is not using the standard armour in the loadout screen though, this is why he has 1 of 5 unique uniforms.

Unfortunately however, what you see with the uniforms in the artwork is exactly what you what you get, you can't edit the arms or legs in anyway, just the torso which picks the entire uniform and you may edit the colour and camo. You can still change the headware and face props as well as general soldier appearance but outside of that the options are limited. You do however get a new hairstyle, and some headware items that are not restricted.
All in all, the uniform options are really nice and high quality, it's just a shame you can't change the props on them or combine them with anything else.
They are also tied to Tier 1, which means that you'll only be using them for 6 missions or so before you get into T2 armour, I don't know if the all armour types mod works with it either.
Honestly, while it's nice stuff, i wouldnt recommend it thanks to the restrictions on it's content.
Beaglerush has finally got to proxymines:

Holy shit I need that fucking Atlas titan.
This game is murdering my PC.
Every single time I play my machine crashes within an hour, or right after I exit the game.
Then I need to reboot a couple of time before it starts back up. Looks like a display driver crash.
This doesn't happen in any other game, most of which ridiculously more demanding than XCOM 2: Elite Dangerous, Witcher 3, Fallout 4 with ENB and 200 mods...
I'm actually afraid of starting this game because I dont want it to fry my new video card.

Tied to tier 1? Isn't all the armor in character customization only cosmetic?
Anyway related, this guys mods adds the eu/ew armor tier 1-3 & weapons to xcom 2.

Not sure what you mean but i'll try and clarify, the resistance skins / models are actually a seperate kevlar option, once you tech up to predator it becomes obsolete, you can still use them if you want but it's still only kevlar armour, you don't get upgrades of it. To my knowledge the mods which trick the game into allowing all customization options for any level of armour does not work with this DLC but i havent tried it yet.

I have the mod and the DLC and it works IIRC.

I'm not sure how much this will help, but doing the "fix stuttering" INI tweaks in the following tutorial helped my performance. It may help you too.

Unfortunately it's not a performance issue. The game runs fine until it crashes. But when it does it takes the entire OS with it.
But thanks.

I actually have this problem with other games as well. It used to affect XCOM2 but after patches it doesn't seem to happen anymore. Black screen, sound continues, can't save anything and need to reboot. Haven't figured out but I've read it could be a hardware issue, but don't quote me. PM me if you want to talk more.
Is there a time constraint on how long I take before I do the [sp] tower mission[/sp] or do I just have to outrun the avatar project like normal?
Both DLC missions can be postponed indefinitely. When you do the tower is up to how confident you are going up against hoards of low health mechanical units. However, if you push it out too far, the reward becomes next to useless.

I was talking about the radio tower thing in the main game.
Just beat the game Ironman Veteran though and holy FUCK, that [sp]tftd sequel tie-in[/sp], did not expect to see that.
If it's the [sp]Advent Radio Tower[/sp] mission, so long as you can keep the doom counter at bay you can delay till you're hearts content, you can't delay the next mission though.

I am convinced my copy of XCOM 2 is cursed.
I did that, disabled the Alien Hunters thing at the start of a campaign, the Viper King still shows up.
What the fuck am I doing wrong?

Enable it but resist the urge to do the mission when it's given to you. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I remember that disabling it makes them show up for no reason.

I thought the first mission had a specific name, though? Or is a generic name resource raid mission?

It gives you a specific site to scan. If you scan the site, then it'll give you the Alien Rulers mission. Same goes for Lost Tower.
