Started playing XCOM 2 finally... this might be the most inconsistent performance I've ever seen in a PC release
about that berserker queen...
This is why I think repeaters need to be removed from base game.
This is why I think repeaters need to be removed from base game.
Hell no, they're great fun, if tactically unreliable.
This is why I think repeaters need to be removed from base game.
It doesn't have to be removed, just rebalanced. Maybe make it have a higher chance to instantly kill when concealed, but when detected, the ability is negated. Another idea would be to reduce the weapon's damage and range as a trade-off.
Okay, okay, okay, you're telling me, in a professionally made game, they didn't account for walls being between characters during melee specials? Seriously? No, this enemy cannot possibly shock me through the wall.
I've had an Advent soldier fire upwards through a roof and critically hit someone that they were 'flanking', despite, you know, there being a roof. Which has happened more than once.
Wow the tutorial missions for both of the DLC missions are just awful. Yes, nearly infinite spawning enemies every turn is a fun mechanic

Sometimes it may make sense if you think of the ammunition used able to penetrate certain materials. But then you have ballistics from a pistol tearing through a foot of concrete and it becomes confusing again. [editline]31st December 2016[/editline]
Wow the tutorial missions for both of the DLC missions are just awful. I don't find them that worth it.
I'm spending new years Eve watching a black screen after the penultimate mission, I need to save Earth before Advent can ruin 2017! Now that's how you ring in the new year, double Repeater procs on two of the Avatars. Fuck yeah xcom
tbh the narrative missions, especially for shens gift just gets in the way of giving you the content. I think shen's gift is way better when you don't have to shitblast your guys with a tough mission to get the content
Speaking of which, just finished an hour ago. I damn well nearly had an aneurysm at the last part.

How do you do, fellow XCOM agents?

IT'S A FUCKING THINMINT
*Finn Mann on a first date* "I can't let her know I'm an ayy" *backflips off the street and onto her penthouse balcony* *shoots the door off the taxi from half a mile away* *dislocates neck and swallows dinner like a snake* *goes on a drunk bender and his date holds his hair back while he spits up poison and melts the plumbing*
Whenever I get Finn in a campaign, I like to imagine him infiltrating the ranks of the resistance, as a spy for the ayys. However, as he lives among the humans, fights alongside XCOM, and faces hardships with his fellow soldiers, he learns that friendship was more important than obeying the dominating hivemind all along.
The real question is what happens when Finn had to encounter the Vipers
The real question is what happens when Finn had to encounter the Vipers
Romance subplot DLC.

Oh boy, I can't wait to get into arguments with my friend about long war 2's mechanics. Ah shit, and I'm already in the middle of my first "real" long war campaign. I hope beags will play it, Live and Impossible taught me almost everything I know about LW.
So with Long War 2's announcement, I'd like to remind everyone that it's still entirely possible we're going to get a full expansion by Firaxis still. Between the launch of Alien Rulers and Shen's Last Gift, they included a bunch of WIP references to new environment tiles. Some of these were for Shen's Last Gift, but some were not, and were promptly removed IIRC. [t]http://i.imgur.com/gGmjwWG.jpg[/t] Noticeably, these all have a suffix of XPACK. While you could make the argument that these are for the DLCs, the DLC environment stuff either had no suffix, or was DLC60 or DLC90 (DLC30 being for Anarchy's Children). This to me heavily indicates the possibility of a expansion pack for XCOM 2. Whether it's been scrapped since then, we don't know. However, it does atleast indicate it was being worked on at one point. (thanks to an old post on Reddit by u/tweevle for finding these 6 months ago.)
I think most people have expected and Enemy Within style expansion for Xcom2 since it came out. Xcom 3 will be about the end game cutscene. But that leaves room for, dealing with the Speaker and the Advent administraitions across the globe within the Xcom2 timeline and maybe [sp]rescue the spokesman[/sp]. What i'm interested to find out is, what can they add that's a big enough draw. I'd like them to re introduce Exalt only this time they fight both you and Advent in the same mission, you turn up at a supply raid and Exalt show up mid way through to fuck you're shit up kinda deal. Then re introduce Covert operations with actual mechanics that allows your operatives to walk incognitio in plain clothes till they break cover Like gatecrasher.
I really hope that my mods don't break with LW2. It'd be a real fucking pain in the ass to update all 35+ weapon mods, especially since I don't have good internet speeds. I'm certain that it won't, unless they add a new dedicated weapon tier (Lasers) or something.
Also kinda want to mention that Humble Monthly for February contains XCOM 2 as the first game for 12 USD
Man I don't know what the fuck mods I got installed, but I just got a MEC on my second mission that had 10 armor and 40 health. Not to mention seemingly every pod on the map noticing me all at once, so I got 9 small bastards shooting at me and this huge fucking MEC just destroying me.
Long War 2 preview
It got worse. I deemed that playthrough fucked and started anew. This time the same big, bulky motherfucker showed it's ugly rear in the first fucking mission, alongside ADVENT calling in goddamn 12 ADVENT Spotters. To make matters only that much better, I also got a random-event where the Skyranger is unable to be called for 8 turns.

The best part about being forced to wait to call the skyranger are the advent reinforcements being called in every turn :v:

It was sorta cool for a while with all of my guys stuck in a sub-urban house while seemingly all the ADVENT for miles was closing in, while one guy was trying to eliminate the ADVENT VIP. Too bad the MEC just sorta came in, shot all the cover my guys had and then the Spotters just fisted every XCom operative repeatedly.
Short interview with JL for LW2. Not much new info http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-01-10-xcom-2s-long-war-mod-will-be-more-accessible-to-casual-players
