Besides, Gatecrasher is the one mission you can just keep restarting till you get it right.
I've never had a problem with Gatecrasher, honestly. Except for that one time when I started a new campaign and pretty much my whole squad was wiped, but I kept going. My XCOM got wiped 2 missions later. :v:
Anyone knows any good tactics against andromedons? It seems like whenever they are deployed I always get really messed up
Anyone knows any good tactics against andromedons? The best way to deal with them is to just have enough plasma grenades to reliably murder an Andromedon in a turn with or without shooting from other members of your squad. Bluescreen rounds are a nice convenience for killing the second form.

The best way to kill an andromedon is to not kill the andromedon. Dominate it, and if it dies, hack it. Never let it escape.

If you don't have blue screen rounds, I would strongly encourage getting them. I put them on my ranger, cybernetics be my bitch.

Did anyone ever play the multiplayer mode of any of the 2.5 modern xcom games? I feel like giving it a shot once I'm done with the campaign but no one ever talks about the multiplayer mode of xcom so I dont know how bad is it

First was just a regular round of fighting. Lost because, evidently, Berserkers suck lol. Second round he brought out a Cyberdisk and drone entourage. I packed two assaults with combat drugs. Drugs OP is all I gotta say. It was fun, though, but kind of gimmicky.

You'll never find an opponent. IF you do get a game together though, it'll lag like crazy and probably crash a few times. If you get past all that, the game does not really lend itself to PvP gameplay all that well, it can be fun but honestly it's nothing you should go out of your way to play.
I played 2 online with a friend and despite the like minute long sync between us each turn it was fun. Honestly the only thing I didn't like was being constrained to only 6 units, I wanted to go nuts with a full 12 man advent squad
Well, thats a shame. For some reason I expected that there would be some kind of ultra-pro armchair general xcom multiplayer community like in other games with optional multiplayer :v: Honestly, I dont really get why. XCOM seems like it could make for a super awesome multiplayer game.

In XCOM 2 mind control isn't as strong, but it doesn't really matter when you get things like Null Lance which do a shit ton of guaranteed damage on a pretty cheap XCOM psi-soldier platform. XCOM 2 in particular is plagued by how anti-fun and bullshit the high tier Alien enemies like the Sectopod and Gatekeeper are. The Sectopod can shoot three times a turn with a high damage weapon or move and fire with a massive height advantage, while both the Sectopod and the Gatekeeper have a ton of health and armour meaning that if you don't optimise your squad for facing one, or just take one to begin with, you're pretty screwed Both EU and XCOM2 have general problems with connectivity and crashes as others have said
I feel like the multiplayer should have been more of a sandbox Instant Action mode. Let people play against the AI as well as players and give them an absurd amount of options to mess around with and set up their own scenarios. Sometimes I just want to get into the combat without dealing with micromanagement and the other things associated with the campaign.

Just beat XCOM 2. Guess my next play through will be once the expansion releases, with all the fun DLC's and whatnot. [sp]I think I liked EU's ending more[/sp] Also, [sp]is that part of the ending with the ocean floor glowing PSI purple a plug for Terror from the Deep - type style sequel? [/sp]
[sp]That's what we're hoping for.[/sp]
So did we ever find out what hapenned to [sp]dr Vaahl[/sp]? I think she got mentioned a couple of times but I was honestly expecting her to a part of the plot at some point. I mean, [sp]Shen being dead had more influence in this game[/sp]
Yeah it was really weird that you only find out what that person had been up to but no sign of them.
So did we ever find out what hapenned to [sp]dr Vaahl[/sp]? I think she got mentioned a couple of times but I was honestly expecting her to a part of the plot at some point. I mean, [sp]Shen being dead had more influence in this game[/sp]
She does have an influence on the game, if you buy the Alien Rulers DLC. So everyone be warned not to click this if you havent got that. [sp] Her fate is unknown, but presumed KIA. She went her seperate ways when Xcom / Earth fell, took Bigsky and a bunch of soldiers / scientists with her to carry on her research and hopefully find a way of beating Advent, only she took her experiements too far and ended up creating Alien rulers. Then a seemingly endless hoard of vipers began to descend upon her secret base, eventually surrounding it stopping her and her team from escaping in the Sky ranger (because it was outside). Her last known action is to create a distraction big enough to allow Big Sky and a few soldiers to reach the Sky Ranger and escape in the hopes of finding Bradford and the resistance. What that distraction was, is not known, but she was willing to sacrafice herself by self destructing the base if it came down to it. Whats important to note from the audio logs is that she expresses deep regret at what she was doing to the point she's willing to sacrafice herself in the end to stop her creations from escaping, wished you was still there to restrain her and stop her from taking things as far as she did. Thinks Bradford is capable / wants him to come destroy her creations and perhaps most important of all, still considers herself part of Xcom. All those factors combined indicates to me that she is either dead or captured by Advent, because she'd do everything in her power to find Bradford otherwise.[/sp] There's also a book, but since the DLC came out, it's kind abeen retconned, volcano base with lava and all tha evil mastermind jaz. That being said [sp] I honestly would not be surprised to find out she's the reason why there are alien defectors, she may even their leader. [/sp]
I thought Vahlen was supposed to show up in this new expansion or atleast have something to do with it EDIT: oops, I guess Fr3ddi3 just cleared that one up

Holy shit, so we finally get some real stealth (outside of some mods)
Man I love Firaxis.

[/sp]
XCOM 2's story was pretty shit to be honest. [sp]The main plot points are basically rehashed from EU, the ayys are abducting people, stop them and figure out why. We get more info about them, namely that they're dying, but despite what ADVENT brings to the table, the damn thing ends with the exact same cliffhanger as EU: There's something ahead that the ayys warn us about that we're not ready for. They even rehashed the final mission, with a shittier version of the Volunteer to boot, missing everything about what made it great the last time. There was so much opportunity with a dystopia setting and they wasted it.[/sp]

I haven't played any of the DLC's yet, I'll probably get them along with the expansion. As for the ending, [sp]honestly the idea with the volunteer in the original game was much better IMO, it was more fun to pick your own soldier to a part of the story as the chosen one rather then the commander mary sue character[/sp]
