I haven't played any of the DLC's yet, I'll probably get them along with the expansion.
As for the ending, [sp]honestly the idea with the volunteer in the original game was much better IMO, it was more fun to pick your own soldier to a part of the story as the chosen one rather then the commander mary sue character[/sp]
A part of me thinks that if they wanted the commander to be this [sp] active Mary sue character, that actually had a presence in a mission [/sp] then they should have just let us customise our own silly little self insert character to appear in cut-scenes and sit around spinning on their chair in the commander's room until that time came.
Without the neat little touch of choosing [sp] your own favourite character to be the volunteer/avatar, the final mission just wasn't anywhere near as interesting imo[/sp]
Aliens and the lost aren't allies, they'll fight each other if they run into each other
Multiple enemy factions that would fight both with each other and the player in missions is something that I've always wanted to see in XCOM. That was actually what I expected from EXALT back when enemy within came out, that there would be missions where you would sometimes have three factions taking turns each competing for their own goals. I guess that was too complex from technical or design standpoint. I'm glad they've got something like this now
this means exalt mods in the future maybe?
Exalt mod being just one guy who shows up in an incredibly dirty white dress shirt, blasting a static boombox because no one told him the war was over.

Well I made an EXALT guy way back just using the base game's outfits and colors (found an actual voice for him though) so I don't think it would take that much effort to try and reskin enemies.

I don't know why but I always think of Eggsalt as a German operation.
The computer voice in the eggsalt base had a Russian accent tho

The new faction classes look neat but what I'm really looking forward to is the photo booth feature.

Possibly a subconscious connection you made because they arm themselves with G36C rifles and UMP submachine guns (not actually used, but are seen on the ground in their introductory mission).

Oh also, being high-class professional criminals which invokes reminders of movie villains like Hans Gruber.

That and their orange black and red colour scheme

Their little vests always gave me more of a valet vibe than 'high-class criminal'.
Their outfits always made me think they were office workers or something that and had just come straight from their day jobs at some secret EXULT signal.

That's pretty much the case, no? What with their idea being that they're a bunch of 1%ers intending to use the aliens technology to catapult themselves to world dominance once the aliens go away.
ADVENT must've been a real shock to them.

I was under the impression that they became ADVENT as a reward when alien dominance set in to add a "human element" to the transition. The ADVENT Spokesman looks like an EXALT member, for example.
I actually though that Enemy Within wasn't even considered cannon anymore considering XCom never even reach to the point of finding or even using Gene. And if it is considered cannon, most likely EXALT are working within ADVENT but most likely buying time to strike back and take Earth for their own.
EXALT fought the aliens just as much as XCOM, however they just wanted to piggyback off of the chaos to rule the world for themselves. I see no way how they would suddenly accept being a puppet for the Elders, because they would get no say in anything.

The ADVENT spokesman is supposed to be an advanced thin man.
The only two things I can think about the Skirmisher.
1) This dude seems incredibly, incredibly OP. Time will tell if the heroes are remotely balanced but hey.
2) GET OVER HERE!!

[sp]And there's probably multiple of him, since we see him get brutally attacked by a huge crowd at the start of a revolution, so he probably didn't survive that attack. Yet he's talking to us without so much as a bruise or cough not long after.[/sp]

i genuinily am, this and the squad buddy thing where they make friends with each other
it's proper fire emblem now and i can't wait
Obviously, despite the spokesman being pummeled in a crowd, they all missed their attacks, because it's Xcom.

Jake said in his big E3 interview that enemies are getting rebalanced, so T2 and T3 enemies are going to be a lot tougher. Plus, they earn ability points slowly and the pool is universal so you will most likely only have one OP motherfucker. Earning new heroes other than the starting one (assumed to be a Reaper due to the trailer showing one finding the Commander) is also going to be difficult, requiring lots of favour with a resistance faction which requires covert ops.
Also, Will is now a fatigue system, so you can't take them on every mission, you'll need to rotate them out when their will starts dropping.
Basically, the game appears to be getting a lot done to it to balance them, and that's not mentioning the Chosen who appear to be basically the Advent's version of these guys. (Only without the Ruler reactions... as far as we know, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Chosen gets that on their level ups, just like the Skirmisher can)

And he is a Thin Man, the bullshit masters whom RNGesus favours above all others.
I am really liking the new environments.
If they are rebalancing the game they had better nerf advent aim earlygame so you no longer need to kill everything on the first contact.
My fantasy re-balance would be to make T1 Advent use the "Reserve" prefix (Reserve Trooper, Reserve Officer) so it makes more sense as to why they're so easily dealt with, T2 use ADVENT (ADVENT Trooper) to show they're the real deal, and T3 be a special forces variant using the Terror prefix (Terror Trooper, Terror Officer)(Because The Saboteur was fun and I liked the idea of the Terror Squad Nazis, and it fits the alien's Terror Attacks). T1 would be the bulk of what you fight early on, T2 becomes the standard later on around when you are mid-way through your own T2 equipment, and T3 become a rare showstopper later on considered on-par with a Sectopod spawn (they spawn as a squad, so one officer, one lancer, one shieldbearer, and one trooper).
