I'm really looking forward to the expansion
I've seen that you can get modded content to work if you copy over your workshop content into the photobooth folder, and then I looked at the size of my X2 workshop folder

I think I may have a voice mod & cosmetics problem.
Actually this reminds me of an important question I have about xcom 2 and lots of mods.
For better performance, is it better to have more ram or faster HDD speeds? I currently run it off of 5400rpm HDD and 8gb of ddr3 ram, the end result is long initial load times, significant pauses when loading voice customizations the first time on game start up, and other interruptions.

Game is slow in loading in its nature, which apparently WotC is going to fix. As far as I know having more RAM is more benefitial, because you'll have more capacity for mods to be loaded at once. I have 8GB and have more than 60 mods running and it works acceptable for me. Faster HDD will help with loading but that's about it, really. But then again, WotC will imporve the performance(apparently), so we should expect some great stuff from that.

I've upgraded both at seperate intervals, (well I went from HDD+HDD to SSD+HDD)
8gb to 16gb ram, while overal performance was slightly better, it did not really impact load times much, i was kind of expecting the sime kind of impact I got a few years ago when i went from 4 to 8 but i was left a little dissapointed as not much can leverage the extra memory, at least not much that I play (arma 3 exception).
HDD to SSD however, shaved quiet a bit off load times. I can certainly say I noticed and felt the upgrade with this one.
It is an incredibly nice feeling when someone makes a mod for Payday 2 masks and mentions my Jacket voicepack in 'Recommended mods' tab. :excited:
So I know that Phoenix Point has been kinda of alright in it's appearance at this point, being more like weird XCOM clone than anything else for now. But man, the Short Stories that they have on the site are great. Then again, I'm biased towards any and all Lovecraft-styled stories, so I find some, such as Tomb of Phoenix to be most delightful.
The Challnge Mode trailer got me thinking about playable aliens and wanted to see which is everyone's favorites! I personally really like Codexes and their crazy ninja run and teleportation shenanigans. Plus, who doesn't like glitchy, hologram girls??

Yeah, I'm pretty excited for Phoenix Point, myself. It doesn't bother me if it looks like an XCOM clone - I could always use more XCOM in my life!
I don't really have a favorite but there are 3 that i hate to run into more than anything else.
Stunlancers, Vipers and Archons.
Granted the first 2 are mostly dead before they every ever get a chance to do anything but if they do live they get flashbanged for a turn to keep em docile. However Archons when they start showing up are just a collosal pain in the arse and it's not uncommon they'll be alive for 3 turns.
All because of dodge. Make no mistake i would not change them at all, but they are really fucking annoying.
Firaxis confirmed that you won't be fighting XCOM in Challenge mode, nor you will be able to play as the Chosen on their Challenge mode stream.

Aw, I'd love to have had a challenge map where you control all 3 Chosen versus a ton of XCOM soldiers.
I wonder if [sp]Avatars[/sp] would be available to play as for the maps? Maybe just as the [sp]Nerfed Commander Avatar[/sp]?
So something I wanted to share with you guys that I've been working on in the last few days, which is Limb targeting (Apologies for the shitty frame rate):

Once you click fire on the weapon, it will bring up the list of limbs you can target, first one always defaulting to center mass.
How this works right now is that when you scroll through the available list, it will give you a passive perk, depending on your choice. The reason it gives Shadowstrike instead of something more appropriate like a custom Headshot perk, is because it seems I'm just really bad at making custom abilities, so it kept messing up and I'll have to figure out what I'm doing wrong later.
I plan on making this as mod friendly as possible, letting you setup custom perks for targeted characters and even support for custom enemies. Since this literally works with passive perks, you can do a lot more beyond just changing aim/crit/damage. One of the other default "limbs" I plan on adding is the ability to target the grenade of an enemy, making it detonate. Pretty much Fuse but without psi and harder to hit.
Uh update I guess, took me 5 hours to figure out how this works, but I think it was worth it (Ignore the lack of arms):

Several more hours until WotC releases!
Meanwhile, look at this cool album I made explaining some of the changes I made to the weapons + some new weapons.

Hopefully the mods that fix the timer will work on launch, I need em for a new playthrough

I believe there is a second wave option to double the timers, as well as a policy(?) card that prevents timers from decreasing when in concealment .
Because seriously fuck the timers
Because seriously fuck the timers
Timed missions were a good idea. Making almost every mission timed was a terrible idea. The time limits essentially forcing you to move constantly was the worst idea.
Like I don't mind if like, very specific mission types have them, but why in the fuck do ones where I'm going through an Advent free facility have them??????
Ugh $40 for WotC? With all the content and gameplay changes It's probably worth it, but isn't it usually a lot less? I've bought 9 out of every 10 Firaxis DLCs from the past 8 years or so and I don't remember them being that high.
Enemy Within was $40 IIRC.

Nvm, $30.

Go buy it on places like CDkeys, it's £29.99 there.
I finally buckled down and finished a campaign of XCOM2 in preparation for the DLC. I usually get real frustrated near the early game and quit because I would always play on harder difficulties, and for whatever reason I couldn't bother to try lower difficulties. Did a Normal normal-mode campaign. Had lots of fun, and I hope WotC changes stuff up enough to feel like a totally new experience.
Also hopefully its not a long download because I want to play it tonight, pleeeease.
So uh... do we need DLC to actually have the game not run like dog shit, or will they patch the base game as well?
Honestly with my underpowered system, GTX 970, I never had a problem with performance, I wonder why.
Only performance issue I ever had was DREADFUL load times.
But I keep hearing the DLC fixes that, soooo

Remember EW? WotC is exactly the same situation (except that FXS rebuilt the codebase from scratch so the fixes are tied to WotC only).
It's gonna have its own build under XCom 2 (Like EU/EW). Theoretically, you could run WotC without XCom 2.
I wish EU got patched more. Just had a run ended because suddenly I can't move my soldiers, can't end the turn, reloading the game didn't even help.

To be honest, I haven't played much because my load times are between 5 to 20 real time minutes and it works at a wonderful 6 to 12 FPS. Like, it's playable, because it is a turn-based game, but the enjoyment is a wee bit gimped.

Yeah, loading was murder. I just played a few maps of Fire Emblem: Heroes between load screens lol
Playing a TBS while playing a TBS.
