Several more hours until WotC releases! Meanwhile, look at this cool album I made explaining some of the changes I made to the weapons + some new weapons. http://imgur.com/a/Po1YP Edit: Media tag didn't work correctly :\
Holy shit I am hyped, you mad man!
God all of the new hero type characters look and feel badass to play. So far it's pretty great, Skirmishers are probably my favorite.
Bit annoyed that you can't pre-load DLCs on Steam. As War of the Chosen is a 30.1 GB download. Don't see why you would not be able to pre-load DLCs, seeing they allowed reviewers and other people early copies of the DLC.
fucking GMG
Pre-load would have been greatly appreciated. I'll be lucky to have the game finished before I leave for work tomorrow morning.
fucking GMG
Even after they actually get my key out seven hours later, they didn't get around to actually sending the email. I had to go into my purchases page over and over just to see if it was there. Excellent.
Great, woke up in the morning ready to play WotC by Steam suspended my install for no reason while I was sleeping :v:
Did the DLC improved the game performace?
Did the DLC improved the game performace?
Most players who had review copies have said that the game runs noticeably better.
Did the DLC improved the game performace?
yes
So the expansion breaks every single mod and i bet 80% of it is abandoned and won't be updated anymore. Kind of annoying, it's just not the same when my soldiers aren't cool as fuck.
Oh... great, guess I'll hold off until a timer mod comes back, wasn't there one that completely overhauled how infiltration worked? Like, nothing objective wise even occurred unless you were detected for a significant period of time?

But if you want to wait, I'm sure someone will pop out a compatible mod shortly.

Well I can, but that'd be for vanilla and I think it'd need some tweaking to work on WotC.
Did the DLC improved the game performace?
Not only that but it loads a lot faster as well. At least compared to what I remember. But I'm getting solid 60 FPS on max where before I'd get 20-50 on medium settings.

Does anybody know what mods are safe to use? I've seen some cosmetic mods seem fine, or at least less fucked than others in the new expansion.
Capnbubs updated his pack on the Nexus. That's a safe bet.
Yeah the DLC does improve performance. Out of the 6 hours I've played the DLC, I've not encountered a single FPS drop. And am able to run the game on reccomended graphics settings at a smooth 60 FPS, before in which it would stutter alot and run at 30 FPS. Even the Geoscape map runs smoothly.
So does it feel like it's worth the £35 price tag for you guys? On the fence atm on buying it.
So does it feel like it's worth the £35 price tag for you guys? On the fence atm on buying it.
Remember that you're not paying £35 for wotc, you're paying £35 to play wotc RIGHT NOW. If you can wait a year it'll be like half the price on sale.

If you can wait a year it'll be like half the price on sale.
That doesn't answer anything. I like Firaxis, and I would also like to support them if the expansion is worth $40. I wouldn't mind getting $40 worth of content for $20 a while from now, but I also wouldn't mind more XCOM stuff either. Money = development. If the content is worth $20, I'll get it when it's on sale then.

[editline]29th August 2017[/editline]
Right. So does it feel like it's worth the £35 price tag for you guys right now?
From what I've seen, you won't be disappointed. Some mods are going to be updated soon-ish, so expect the workshop to be updated as time goes on. But even without most mods it's still worth it, the amount of content included is way better in quality than other DLCs. any new customization options?
any new customization options?
Besides for the new Hero classes, no idea.
yooo you can now edit timers for all mission types individually in the ini
Been playing the expansion. Gotta admit the new way retaliation missions work is nice. They keep all the civilians bundled up in a few specific spots with some resistance who, while they only ever do 2-3 damage at most, seem to NEVER miss. EVER. Seriously this last mission my successful hits were god damn horrible but the Resistance didn't miss a single bullet. They killed more enemies than I did. [editline]29th August 2017[/editline] Also load times are so fast now, Bradford can't even explain to me for the 100th time what this mission is. Though sometimes he needs to because there's a ton of new mission types.
Honestly with my underpowered system, GTX 970, I never had a problem with performance, I wonder why.
Probably because you have GTX 970
Probably because you have GTX 970
yeah how is a 970 considered underpowered? Still, that's mine so it's good to hear it runs well.
