Is anyone not picking Templars?
Sectoids are the most annoying fucking thing I've ever encountered with the second wave option that gives everyone HP. Very hard to shut down a double HP sectoid by simply killing it really quick, so it can let its zombies run amok and successfully mind control willy-nilly. The whole double HP thing also seems to blunt melee a bit, too. On your side, atleast-- a lot harder to go for a quick kill when all you'll do is just a bit of damage now. But it might also give Faceless and Chrysalids a lot more time to do damage.
These second wave options are awesome. I love not having to be weight down so heavily by mission timers. The hero classes are awesome. Haven't tried templars yet though. Propaganda is the mechanic I never knew that I needed. Research breakthroughs are very cool, I love the risk/reward. I'm having a really good time with this xpac so far, and it's a HUGE improvement on the base game.
Hey guys, just a heads up: the Commander's Choice mod works perfectly without being updated.
I'm gonna wait until the dust clears on customization mods until I pick up WotC. Do patterns work still, or will those need patches too?
yeah how is a 970 considered underpowered? Still, that's mine so it's good to hear it runs well.
but like, I hear people with more powerful graphics cards having problems and it confuses me.
but like, I hear people with more powerful graphics cards having problems and it confuses me.
every system is different.

Though most of them work just fine.
Do you get to customize your hero units at all?
Do you get to customize your hero units at all?
Yes, they have customization options too.
Do you get to customize your hero units at all?
Ayy? Lmao.
i'll never understand why some publishers release their shit right when we're all paying rent
i'll never understand why some publishers release their shit right when we're all paying rent
On the other hand, it was probably just payday for everyone who gets paid monthly (at least it was for me). Staying on-topic though, having a lot of fun with WotC but boy do I miss some mods. Lot of nice little improvements amongst the bigger things though, when modders catch up it's going to be near impossible to put XCOM down.
i'll never understand why some publishers release their shit right when we're all paying rent
you have to choose
Right. So does it feel like it's worth the £35 price tag for you guys right now?
So far imo its worth it. My only complaint is that the first month has way too many audio clips playing. I hear 'commander' 10 times a minute.
I actually completed my first WOTC Gatecrasher without anyone dying. Good start!
So for Templars, [sp]do you get force-introduced to them (like the other 2 you automatically get a mission for them right away), or do I need to do something in particular?[/sp]

I haven't done it yet so I'm just guessing here.[/sp]

Nearly there! The weapon megapack is almost ready for WotC! Just gotta figure out how to give the weapons to the different factions. I wasn't too sure if I needed the expansion pack right away; but hearing everyone's positive impressions and hearing that performance seems to have heavily optimized, I decided to jump in. Is it true that vanilla Xcom2 won't recieve any performance improving patches? I don't know how I feel about that, but it seems kind of bullshit to me, especially hearing how significantly better the game runs on some systems. Clean download of Xcom2 and the expansion pack is 60gb now. I might get to play in an hour or so.
You know, maybe slapping that permanent dark event second wave option wasn't my best choice: [t]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/857228716246521739/3380027B21CBEA3DF94EB74F15BCAD02127EF076/[/t] "Regular mission". Literally the first Dark Event I got was the "Lost have a chance to spawn on missions" one. Combine that with the Double HP second wave option where it takes awhile to kill enemies, they're more than likely gonna use their grenades by that point and attract the fuckers.

Wow, WotC feels so much more tense now. Only just completed 'Lost and Abandoned' and had one heck of an emotional roller coaster, so I thought I'd share (not gonna tag because the mission has already been featured heavily in promotional material) First part was pretty easy, packed a Rookie and Ranger cause Dragunov would easily help cover distant targets. First off, the Reaper felt GREAT to control! Massive maneuverability and flexibility, plus the rifle sounds orgasmic. But yeah, few close scrapes, but we made it untouched. Second went a liiiitle off the rails. Packed a Specialist and Sharpshooter for this one, help round out the group with long and medium range to cover Mox's short range. So we bump into the double Purifier pod and I think "oh, they're just melee range flamed dudes" and zip Mox up some stacked cargo containers, out of cover cause "they'll never reach me lol" and lob some pot shots at them. Come Purifier turn and they both bolt over to the two-story cargo stack and spray fire up at poor, exposed Mox! Both missed. I couldn't believe it! I don't know the numbers they were rolling, but frankly, I don't wanna think about how close he was to being Skirmisher BBQ. Through clever use of ambulance doors, we flanked and blew them up. The lost were easy enough to knock down with some creative accounting and some swearing/religious evocation. Lastly, we face off against Kublai Khan (or whatever her name was), the Voidmaiden. So she skiddles and we group up to get ready for her assault. Suddenly, she zips up to my (semi-)lone sharpshooter and crits her into bleeding out! We manage to flank her, pump her full of buckshot and stabilize our sharpshooter after they flee. Of course, the rookie has the honor of hoisting our poor, unconscious sharpshooter through a gauntlet of lost talons and teeth. It was exciting, exhilarating and nerve wracking and I loved it! Can't wait to play more tonight!
Firaxis implied that they had to rewrite so much of the origional code it was incredibly difficult to apply it to vanilla.
I'm very forgiving of Xcom 2's performance due to it being a TBS game, but i gotta be honest. If you can turn off the WOTC content, and just play a more refined version of the vannila game, then that version should replace the current Xcom2. I cannot just let Xcom 2 off the hook on this when other games such as Arma 3 follow that practice.
Bought the game this summer and still can't fuckin beat the main campaign on iron man. Tips? What do I build, what is the best course of action, anything I just wanna beat it once so I can get WotC
Bought the game this summer and still can't fuckin beat the main campaign on iron man. Tips? What do I build, what is the best course of action, anything I just wanna beat it once so I can get WotC
Biggest suggestion is early investment into comms and mag weapons. I find myself starving for supplies most of the time, and damage is MUCH more important than protection - if you can kill the pod before they can act, why bother in defense? Also, GTS is best to first build. Getting that first extra squadmate is huge. AWC would probably be next, up to you. Also, important gear investments are: Scanners, Flashbangs, Medkits (seriously, massive headache saver on Specialists). Try to get a workshop in the center of your base so you can easily benefit from the 2:1 Gremlin/Engineer ratio, but do NOT over build early; most of your money should go to equipping your soldiers. Research on story related things (skulljack, etc.) can be put off a LONG time (1-0 pips before project countdown), even before doing the blacksite. Like I said, try to expand your comms regularly so you always have to option to take down sites when you need to push avatar progress back. That's pretty much all I can think of now. Play safe and smart and you should be ok. Just be wary: it is XCOM, baby!
This first mission with the chosen jesus christ I have no idea what to do
This first mission with the chosen jesus christ I have no idea what to do
My first not-scripted mission had me and the assassin chasing eachother while 30 lost ran over the place and Advent was stealing my supplies. Jesus christ it was awful
This first mission with the chosen jesus christ I have no idea what to do
Evenly spread your guys out and just blast 'em with everything ya' got! If they're immune to explosives, remember, their cover isn't. Try having your ranger get a flank on them and pray for the 50/50 crit. They pussy out before they even hit a quarter health left. After that, well... let's just say you gotta be a little more thorough.
