The GBA SP counts as older games to me, so I want to ask a question about it. I found my mom's old GBA SP upstairs, and it still works, and still holds a charge and everything. But it can't play GBA games because it starts in Game Boy Color mode. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? I can't find a thing about it online.
I'm still yet to do extensive searching in relation to Arcade machines/videogames... I have a little bit here, but not much
I'd recommend MAMEUI for a more user-friendly method of accessing MAME without the command line hassle. That crap's for frontends to handle. ROMLister is good to find what you need for your games. It also requires a few files, so read up on the tutorial. The links on the tutorial are way outdated, so watch out for these: controls.XML (Get *.XML!), catver.INI. Also link ROMLister to either the ListXML file or MAME.EXE. Boom. With that, you can plan out your arcade cabinet, should you choose to build one, more efficiently with the kind of games you plan to add to it. MAME Tip: Check for clones on http://mamedb.com/ because many ROMs won't work without certain ones first. MAME is really more of a hobby than regular gaming with the work that requires being put into it for things to work.
I found Road Rash for the PS1 in my attic, it was sitting on the floor on the read side. Still in PERFECT condition, what the hell. It's too bad my cheapo NYKO PS2 memcard doesn't work with PS1 games.
I had Road Rash: Jailbreak for the PS1, those games were awesome
I've been trying to get NFL Blitz on N64 look as close to the console version as possible, and yet the field still has this repeating texture that just looks...weird. I'm using Project64, does anyone know what I need to do?
I've been playing Donkey Kong Country 2 on my Wii SNES emulator. I forgot what a pain in the ass some of the later levels were.
Does anybody know anything about emulators for the original Xbox? I bought one at a flea market for $20. It turns out it's modded and the disc drive doesn't work, but I reckon I could use FTP to put some emulators and games on it. [editline]5th September 2012[/editline] why the fuck does automerge break? is there a time limit for it?

I'll have to sift through that information soon and see what I can do with it. [editline]7th September 2012[/editline]
I've been playing Donkey Kong Country 2 on my Wii SNES emulator. I forgot what a pain in the ass some of the later levels were.
Should I play it? I loved number one... but number two and three looked like some pieces of shit. Like, Dr. Dolittle 3, 4 and 5 made me feel sick watching... because of what happened to the series.
I decided to put a N64 emulator (I recommend Project 64) on my netbook, which could never run any 3D video game, even ones from the 1990's. I downloaded it while I knew it couldn't handle it along with Starfox 64, and my god, I was shocked when it was actually running smooth. So I am happy I can play games on my Netbook, now to find more emulators. [editline]6th September 2012[/editline] Also how come I can not play Gamecube games and Wii games emulated on my PC? It seems to be fine with everyone in this thread.
Gamecube games have always run worse than most PS2 games for me. I only tried one or two Wii games. Silent Hill Shattered Memories was fairly slow outside and I can't remember the other thing I played. You still need a fairly good gaming PC to run them, but nowhere near top of the line. I haven't tried Dolphin in ages so it might have been vastly upgraded performance wise since then. Donkey Kong 2 is my favorite one. It's one of those series that have higher production values and better gameplay in each sequel, but it doesn't quite feel the same. I love playing as Dixie Kong just because she hovers and it makes a lot of puzzles slightly easier. They're all worth playing, though. Even Donkey Kong Country Returns is pretty good. It doesn't have the same feel, but the gameplay is still pretty unforgiving.
why the fuck does automerge break? is there a time limit for it?
After a hour a post doesn't merge. Which is good because if you want to bump a thread for a good reason and you're the last poster, no-one will see it if the posts merges because it won't bump the thread.
So I think I made a mistake. I changed PCSX2 versions from 0.98 to 1.10 and it seems that it can't read the older memory cards. What do?
Trying to get Gecko codes to work with Dolphin emulator, damn thing refuses to work right; even despite downloading the codes, checking the respective boxes and then trying to open the config in wordpad and save it, they still don't activate for Mega Man 9 & 10. Anyone have any tips on how to work 'em?
Man, setting up Controllers on Emulators is so hard. I was hoping to play some Super Mario World right now, but I guess not.
Anybody have experience with Destroy All Humans 2 on PSCX2? I set skipdraw hack to 5 and disabled speedhacks, and I'm running at native res... with the latest PSCX2 SVN of course. I got rid of that annoying shadow thing all over the screen, but distant textures are fucked and the game is slow as hell. edit: Software mode seems to fix all my graphical issues... but the game begins to run like pure shit in FPS
Does anyone know of a way to mod an original Xbox without a copy of Splinter Cell?
Man, setting up Controllers on Emulators is so hard. I was hoping to play some Super Mario World right now, but I guess not.
Setting up a N64 controller on a PS2-type gamepad is a challenge if you've ever seen one. I think I ended up binding the C buttons to one of the analog sticks. It worked in the end, but it was fairly awkward. I would have bought an adapter for the N64 controller to USB if I didn't already have a fairly large N64 cartridge collection I can play on my original N64. And also because I've had issues emulating a couple of games. Graphics issues on Banjo Kazooie, I think I had some in Super Mario 64 too. What's the problem with setting it up for Super Mario World? There's only about 3 buttons you'll ever need, and there's often plugins for your controllers somewhere if they don't show up.
Does anyone know of a way to mod an original Xbox without a copy of Splinter Cell?
You can also use MechAssault and 007: Agent Under Fire. You'll also need Action Replay or alternatively, a USB-to-Xbox adapter. As far as I know, you're going to be spending a few bucks no matter what. The good news is that everything you need is relatively cheap now. I can't seem to find a link to any Xbox emulators. It's difficult to find a good guide on modding, too.
Does anyone know how to auto mount stuff for the android dosbox? I want to put fallout on an external SD card but I can't remount and I don't know how to unmount. So instead of mounting C:/sdcard/ it mounts C:/Removable/MicroSD/
I was just browsing on Deal Extreme, and I saw they have USB adapters for N64, SNES, and PSX/PS2 controllers. The SNES and N64 ones aren't much of a deal, but if you're into heavy emulation it might be a good idea than trying to awkwardly map the buttons to a gamepad or keyboard. They don't come with the controllers, obviously, and I believe all three ship worldwide. You know what would be really awesome, if somebody here could speak up if they have had any experience with these. It all seems good judging by the comments (I only looked at SNES comments :zoid:), but it'd be a shame if somebody purchased them and it turns out to be shit.
Deal Extreme's a safe site to order from, albeit with long shipping times; expect up to 5 weeks or so. The back of the packaging lists which emulators it was tested with, and the comments also say it works with the PS3 but not the Wii. It might be worth the investment if you own a SNES/N64 but don't want to spend a lot buying all the great SNES/N64 games.
playing through the master quest version of oot, and warping textures keep fucking up all over the screen and i can't see shit [editline]28th September 2012[/editline] im trying to get through this dangerous ass maze and half my screen is covered in green fuck

I don't know exactly how well it worked for her, but she told me other people said that they were quite good, albeit a bit expensive. I could ask if she still has a link to those, if you'd like.
I have an adapter for my PS2 controllers, it's great.
I have a USB 360 controller, I use that for all my emulation. Unfortunately it doesn't really work with Visual Boy Advance though, it won't take diagonal inputs with the control stick.

I use my PS3 controller with ePSX. Shit's so cash.
I use my PS3 controller with ePSX. Shit's so cash.
I use a Speedlink controller based on the Dualshocks. Pretty good, but the D pad tents to be irky at times.
I feel this is relevant to the thread. I found a ROM hack of Perfect Dark that makes it look like GoldenEye. It's actually incredibly impressive. New maps based off GoldenEye, bots, new outfits etc. I'm about to try it. http://www.moddb.com/mods/goldeneye-x
An enhanced version of the original GoldenEye 007 on the N64, modding Rare's First-Person follow-up Perfect Dark. Relive the magic of GoldenEye, now with brand new features and upgrades. Hear the sounds of the surface beneath you as you walk, watch the snow fall in Severnaya, battle enemies over and through railings, splatter blood on nearly everything in sight, attach mines and knives to an opponent, play mutiplayer with up to eight computer controlled Simulants, have a second player participate in the mission campaign (either as a friend or a foe), listen to characters speak with voice-overs, tackle new scenarios in multi (including Capture the Flag and King of the Hill), have greater control over your options and character choice in multiplayer, and so much more! Plus, through the advancements in emulation, play online against your friends with Mupen64! This is GoldenEye...
What? is perfectly fine.
In games like Mother 3 I can't run diagonally. It might work for you but it doesn't for me.
