Heh. Legally, yes.
Of course you wouldn't do such illegal things, but you can play using just the game file.
So I can run down to gamestop buy Timsplitters and put the game in my DVD drive and it will run on the emulator?
So I can run down to gamestop buy Timsplitters and put the game in my DVD drive and it will run on the emulator?
Should do, yeah.
[editline]16th July 2012[/editline]
Depends on the emulator, though.
epsxe does for sure.
I think it may also depend on your DVD/CD Drive brand.
I have played Haunting Ground with one of PCSX2's svn releases (because the game looked like shit with the stable releases).
It works fine and fast (50-60 fps, though sometimes stuff slow down for a moment) on Hardware mode (minus some graphical glitches, like lack of proper shadows during gameplay and very ugly blur issues, which can be removed though with saving and reloading states) and Software mode, but only if you have a NASA computer.
If you mean the blur that you get without any extra settings, you can turn on the HW Hacks called WildArmsOffset (not check, but full square), and Agressive-CRC (check). Although, I dont think Agressive-CRC is needed.

Though, it still looks a tad blurry.
Emulation is great for when I'm too lazy to deal with NES carts. You never have to blow on a rom to get it working.
Also, I consider it okay to have roms for games I have or games that are super expensive/rare/Japanese only, like LSD Dream Emulator.
like LSD Dream Emulator.
Fuck that game.
So I can run down to gamestop buy Timsplitters and put the game in my DVD drive and it will run on the emulator?
You can use a program to rip an .iso file from the disc, and then run the emulator off of that.
Fuck that game.
Still scares the shit out of me.

Wait, how rare is that?

Usually in this room there isn't any blur (at least with my settings, but even in the other versions of PCSX2 there wasn't any significant blur in this area, and if there was, then there is blur and bloom everywhere).
However in some places like the Chaos forest (the one that Riccardo goes bat shit insane and drags Fiona's body to the water tower), Daniella and Fiona's "awkward" dinner cutscenes, etc. have blur. Unless this hack also removes/reduces it on these places.
Everyone should find some way to try Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2), Secret of Evermore, and Mother 3 (sequel to Earthbound) if you haven't already.
First two are for SNES, Mother 3 is for GBA.
EDIT:
Does anyone know how well PCSX2 handles importing saves? I was thinking about playing KH2 again, but then I remembered that the prologue is atrocious.

You need to use an external program (MyMC http://www.csclub.uwaterloo.ca:11068/mymc/) in order to be able to do it, but it can be done!

Another game, a spiritually related to Haunting Ground, Clock Tower 3 also works good on PCSX2.
Clock Tower actually runs better, better FPS, can actually run in Software mode (or the one that lags the hell out of your computer if it doesn't have high specs).
There are however 2 bugs. If one plays the game in Hardware mode, when the cutscenes (the ones that actors have acted and the movements were passed over the models), as well as the prerendered ones are very flicky (i.e. there are black tiny lines over the screen) and when Alyssa screams when the panic mode starts, instead of inverted colors everything is purple-greyish. I think this only happens with Hardware mode.
Just leaving this info if anybody is interested about these games

Thanks a bunch.
Apparently Tony Hawk's Underground (first one, U.S.) doesn't like my computer or the emulator well. And trying to play Mega Man Anniversary Collection with a low-budget, third-party 360 controller is a really bad idea. At least I can test which games work and which don't quickly via actual copies instead of corrupted or giant-ass .isos.
Wait, how rare is that?
Currently there are only 2 for sale on Ebay and both are over 300 dollars.

Ran on PSXe, used MotionInJoy DS3 tool to use my PS3 controller as a PS1 controller, and Recorded with Fraps.
Also, How could anyone forget about DOSBox where you can run the OLD MS DOS games!

Updated the thread with MS DOS, and earlier I added useful links :D
Nice video by the way!
Has any progress been made on emulating Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon for N64? There's been tons of issues in the past.
Has any progress been made on emulating Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon for N64? There's been tons of issues in the past.
Not really. Mupen64 was best with that if you could get the plugins right. It became semi - highly playable, but never really completely functional.
I'd give Project64 1.7 a go if it wasn't for the payment you had to make.

this game was such a pain due to the 4 disc needed, took about 30 mins for each one.
also me failing to get the PSX to work multiple times, but still was worth it in the end.
edit: video tags aren't working for me for some reason
edit: nvm got them to work
Now that we're talking about underrated games, i recommend Shatterhand for the NES, great 8bit soundtrack, gameplay is simple but good, controls are a little stiff but not bad, and for a NES game, the ending is actually rather nice.
Did you use the latest SVN releases instead of the recommended build?
yes

i'll post this in case people want to use a ps3 controller for the emulators.
NO%GBA or Desmume ?
Trying to emulate HeartSilver
Personally I prefer Desmume over No$GBA.
Personally I prefer Desmume over No$GBA.
Me too, usually. No%GBA emulates the games much faster here though, and I love the many options you can choose in it which you can't choose in Desmume.
Anyone here have a modded Wii? I downloaded the SNES, GBA and NES emulators for it and it's awesome. Dat Gamecube controller. Played through Mother 3 just to test things out, and it ran perfectly (except for the item screen, I believe.)
I'll be playing through Banjo Kazooie and Tooie on my Laptop, though. Wii64 is kind of wonky right now so I won't even bother.
I use Project64k, which is an offshoot of Project64, if I want to play online. It has the kaillera client installed. I can usually get a game going
Just remember to enable cheats and unlock everything before you try to start a game, or else you will desync. If you know who you'll be playing against, distribute the same save file amongst yourselves for netplay. And don't pick "random" characters.
There's also debate about if 64k is best, or mupen64k. Mupen64k is more reliable, but uses more resources. There's also the AQZ plugin, which supposedly works well with project64 1.7
I've often come across little suffixes with some of my ROMs (h), (t1), (!), etc.
You should put what those mean in the OP along with the regions.

So I recently finally beat SA-X and the Omega(or w/e) Metroid in Metroid Fusion on VBA,goddamn that was satisfying
Now I just have to manage to beat Mecha Ridley in Zero Mission
and yes I owned both games before
