Should there be a different thread for MAME, since there's more to it than just emulating?

MAME is an emulator.
What more is there to it than emulation?

Mostly cabinet-building for best experience, front-ends (HyperSpin is popular, as well as MaLa), and that kind of crap.
gameboid (gba emu for android) is helping me cope with my lack of gaming-capable computer
i had been replaying emerald and firered all week last week.
also are there any good emus for the iPad? preferably ones i don't have to jailbreak for
Speaking of MAME and other emulators, this is a cool little guide I've found earlier today that adds filters that make it look like you're playing on an old CRT tv at the cost of a pain in the ass to get it working properly.
Also, I'm not sure there are any emulators for the iPad. There are plenty that you can jailbreak for, though.

Has anybody ever been able to get Burnout 3 working well on a PS2 emulator? It runs like a piece of shit for me no matter what I try.
I've often come across little suffixes with some of my ROMs (h), (t1), (!), etc.
You should put what those mean in the OP along with the regions.

Unfortunately I think you'll have to Jailbreak for that one. But they have amazing game support once you do.

There is actually a crash fix version you need in order to work Burnout 3, and only using the latest version of PCSX2

I built a cabinet a few years ago. I used the Xarcade DIY kit for my controls, an old PC we had lying around and Mala.
Good Old Games should be put into op's post as a "If you don't want to go to all of the effort/this is in a grey area of legality so purchase if worried" option.
Also, THPS 2 on PS1 is still fun as hell all of these years later.
Yeah I don't condone the use of illegally downloaded roms... Just kidding, I have about every snes, nes, and n64 game ever made on my hard drive.
I still can't beat Frankenstein in Castlevania for the NES. I actually beat him once but I killed him right as igor fucking killed me.

Basically try reading the 'Video Settings in Detail' section http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=427321
It could come down to any number of things
- Your general config
- The plugins you are using
- The games you are using
- Your computer hardware
Among others.
Can anybody recommend some good Gamecube games besides Wind Waker? I enjoy just about all genres.

NO$GBA doesn't work well for me, but I managed to get every game I wanted to run on Desmume.

Twilight Princess (The Wii version has some issues man... but I haven't tested the GC version)
Luigi's Mansion
Neighbours from Hell (probably better getting the pc version though)
Simpsons hit and run
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Tony Hawk's Underground
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, one of my favourite RPGs ever.
Luigi's Mansion
Pikmin & Pikmin 2
Super Mario Sunshine
I have an OpenPandora but I still haven't found many good games that work :(
-Figured That shit out yo-
Extract the .rar file.
So I downloaded Wind Waker, and have no idea what to do. Inside the folder all i have is this:
If .rar files confuse you so much, I think you should stay away from emulation bro.
God damnit, anyone knows how to use cheats in Gameboid (android GBA emulator)? :v:

Not very familiar with Android and its emulators, so I can't directly help you... but I did a quick google search 'gameboid gameshark' and 'gameboid cheats'. Returned some promising results. You should take a peek.

Well I did this too, in theory all you should do is enter gameshark cheats (there is a menu for that in Gameboid). But cheats for fire/red just don't work.
I can't beat Gary, all I have is lvl75 blastoise :v:

Are you entering the Master code correctly?
I just want to say I fucking love this thread.
Does anyone here use emulators on anything else besides a smartphone/PC? I got an old xbox that's been modded, I love playing my NES games on it.

My friend bought a pre-owned Xbox without knowing it was hacked. I have fond memories playing Contra on that Xbox, until it broke.

I don't even know what it is, I'm completely new to console gaming

I can make a separate thread regarding Emulation on things other than PC's if you'd like. It might take a while though

Basically, no cheats will work unless you enter the master code. Yet again, here is an info extract from the droid forums.
To put gameshark codes in you have to put the whole code in, pressing enter after each line. heres and example-
12345678 1234(enter)
12345678 1234(enter)
12345678 1234(enter)
12345678 1234
after you complete and press ok it should look like this
[M] Must Be On
12345678 1234
[M] Must Be On
12345678 1234
[M] Must Be On
12345678 1234
[M] Must Be On
12345678 1234
For action replay codes its the same process as above enter the whole thing pressing enter after each line. it should look like this:
12345678 12345678(enter)
12345678 12345678(enter)
12345678 12345678(enter)
12345678 12345678
and after pressing ok it should like this on your screen:
(m)
12345678 12345678
(m)
12345678 12345678
and thats the way you enter the mastercode and any other codes
You need a Master Code (sometimes more) entered before entering any other codes. All Codes must be entered in the same format, as different articles. You can Google for the codes.
