This series introduced me to music that's not my preference and i never thought I'd like it but now I'm in love

I distinctly remember enjoying the music in this game way too much considering my normal music tastes
[sp]In every story where the protagonist has acess to time or reality warping powers, a contrived tragedy, catastrophe or undesirable event must always happen with no input from the protagonist whatsoever to teach him/her (and the audience) that manipulating things the easy way is BAAAAAAAAAAAAD[/sp]
Life is Strange follows in this suit too
Yeah, [sp]Time travel punishment makes no sense in LiS, considering she's getting punished for using her powers to directly influence the event in which she gained the powers for... by the arbitrary time force that GAVE her the abilities. It's so contrived and confusing that it's super clear that the ending was made up quickly, especially now that they've come out and said "Yeah shit guys we had -no- money for episode 5".[/sp]

[sp]It's hella unfortunate because the ending is what really detracts from the experience. Even with the cringy dialogue and poorly-explained time travel, it was an interesting story and the game had a lot of awkward charm. It felt genuine in a strange and unusual way. But, once the final choice is established, the entire plot just unravels and it all feels utterly pointless, especially because it's so obviously not the ending that was set up by the entire script up to that point. I feel like the Donnie Darko-esque ending could have worked if the game had built up to it from the first episode and gone with a radically different idea of player choice and consequence, but since Max had apocalyptic visions before she changed time, you can tell that the ending was crudely strapped on with Scotch tape.
Playing LiS is like... it's like reading the first five sixths of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and then turning the page to see that the rest of the book is literally just a blank sheaf of paper except for the words "and then Salander and Blomkvist went to Mordor and defeated the Dark Lord Sauron who was totally the person sending the flowers" scrawled on the first page in a childish hand. It doesn't fit and it just makes the experience retroactively less worth having had.[/sp]
literally like, 10 minutes after buying and starting the game up some random dude adds me and spoils the ending for me
how the fuck even??

That's why I don't add people

Had no idea this was a thing until now. [Sp] I actually would of liked it, as it would of shown that max's entire journey wasn't for naught, and maybe that the powers behind the time travel and chloe's fate aren't totally evil. plus it would have added a little hope in an otherwise pretty depressing ending. [/sp]
in others news, this just happened to me

the cheat engine screenshot tool is fun
I just finished the game after buying it on the holiday sale. I played most of the game in one shot.
[sp]I picked the the "sacrifice chloe" end. So goddamn heartbreaking, even after all Max went through to save Chloe, I just could not be a dick and sacrifice the entire town. AAAAA.[/sp]
I hadn't sat down and played a story-driven game in a long time, Life is Strange was a treat!
2015? Hot damn, time flies. Hope word of season 2 comes soon-ish, right now I barely have any interest in that whatever vampire game they are making.

first official confirmation that a new LiS game is in the works

first official confirmation that a new LiS game is in the works
Fucking HYPE
As much as it would kill me to never see more of Max & Chloe, I think the LiS universe has so much potential to explore other settings and situations.
YES... I absolutely loved life is strange ( except the ending ) it carried me trough some heavy times so it holds a special place in my heart
I really, really hope they get enough money to complete the series this time
I'm hoping the writing is as strong as the first game. It's going to be tough creating new characters as likable as the old ones.
At least this makes up for the Hitman franchise getting shafted.
Where can they go from here? I don't remember if Max still had her time travel powers by the very end of the first season, but even if she did she wouldn't use them after what happened, at least not for anything important. LiS is about two things: the characters and the magical realism, and I don't know if we can have both in a sequel. What I mean is, to get rid of Max to find a new protagonist with some different magical realism stuff going on would be to ditch the characters, and to stick with Max would presumably mean no more magic powers. Not to mention how [sp] her story branches off in completely different ways, though of course they'll probably go with the assumed canon dead Chloe ending[/sp]
they said they won't have max and chloe back in season 2 a long time ago from what i remember, it's just going to be new characters
they said they won't have max and chloe back in season 2 a long time ago from what i remember, it's just going to be new characters
Yeah, they said their stories are finished. I'll miss them, but I think it's better if they started fresh.
I agree that their story is finished, but the game WAS those characters. If their story is finished, LiS is finished imo. Making a game with a completely different cast and calling it Life is Strange 2 doesn't make any sense to me.
Bet it's going to be called Life is Stranger. And if there is no Chloe I will riot.
It's going to be hard if they switch characters and all. The biggest thing that made LiS so good is that it just felt like you were going through an adventure with friends. Max, Warren, Chloe and the rest just felt like people you knew and liked and wanted to spend time with.
I never thought a game where you play as a teenage girl with anxiety issues in highschool who suddenly gets magical powers would at all engage me but there you go, and now I get frisson every time I even think of it.
Hope they don't fuck it up, though I trust Dontnod to do the series right.
If they continue the characters, it should just force the save ending to be canon. That way, things still aren't 100% right in the universe.
The Sacrifice ending should be the canon ending
The Sacrifice ending should be the canon ending
It definitely felt like a proper ending. I'm glad I chose it first since it had way more emotional impact.
[sp]I really wanted to save Chloe, but that ending is just so lackluster.[/sp]
The Sacrifice ending should be the canon ending
I hope they will ignore the last game, and make new story, because I don't want to play the game where I'm forced into story, I didn't choose in previous game. It would ruin it for me. The choice was too big to just force it on the people.
I hope the new game gets a lot more funding and development time
I hope the animation is better, because that was one of the biggest flaws of the first one.
I'm looking forward to the OST
