I was just thinking about whether we'd hear anything LiS related ever, great to see its official! Would love another season with Max & Chloe but will be interesting to see how they handle it, whichever direction they choose to take.
Having beaten the game last night, I can easily say this is my favorite Telltale game The ending [sp](I chose the one where Chloe dies)[/sp] should have made more sense as to [sp]why the universe wants Chloe dead if the reason the universe gave Max time powers in the first place was in response to Chloe's death originally.[/sp] But this explanation as to why the ending works thematically almost makes up for it. That's a very good analysis of the ending and makes me appreciate it a hell of a lot more, especially since it's pretty meta [sp]since I feel really hollow after finishing the game lol[/sp]. Although the whole [sp]alternate universe "sub"plot(?)[/sp] didn't amount to much for the overall story (besides really driving it home that time shouldn't be messed with), I still think episode 3's ending was one of the best things I've ever seen. It's what finally forced me to play the game in the first place because I was just watching a let's play beforehand. How they presented the reveal was absolutely perfect, from the melancholy music playing (playing more ominous music would probably ruin the scene), the tension building up beforehand, the cutaway before any dialogue, etc. It's extremely shocking and disturbing, but really poignant at the same time. It somehow affected me more than any other part of the game. It's a really emotionally-confusing scene that I can't remember feeling in any other form of media (yes I'm serious). I don't even like Chloe that much but I think it works so well for me because it plays to several of my fears so strongly.
...I can easily say this is my favorite Telltale game
No, the game is developed by Dontnod Entertainment, and published by Square Enix.
No, the game is developed by Dontnod Entertainment, and published by Square Enix.
Yeah, but functionally it's a Telltale game. Not a Telltale Games developed Telltale game, but a Telltale game none the less.
It's better than everything Telltale has put out after TWD S1 and TWAU.
I [sp]saved Chloe because I had gotten it into my head that they wouldn't have that whole sequence of saving all those people and bringing them to the diner if they would be killed by the storm after you saved them anyway. Seems like a bit of a misleading sequence if you can just let everybody die and there's no consequences whatsoever, because they'll all get gibbed by the storm or reset back in time anyway.[/sp]
i wonder if they'll still go with the time travel theme despite of different characters. maybe a different power this time?
No, the game is developed by Dontnod Entertainment, and published by Square Enix.
That was the joke, I like it better than any Telltale game I've played
I really wanted to [sp]save Chloe[/sp] because it became apparent to me that, in the final episode, the developers wanted to enforce a rather heavy-handed, dumb aesop about not messing with time powers for your own benefit (an aesop, I must say, that destroys the whole point of the game. As in, that there are many times in life when you must make choices and live with their consequences, no matter how many times you may want to dodge them and not take responsability). In the end, however, I chose the alternative because, on a pure moral ground, [sp]the cost in human lives would had been just too high[/sp]
You know I've been thinking, I said before that I didn't think a LiS season 2 made sense because it wouldn't have the characters. But I just remembered the feeling I got listening to this music every time I launched the game and I take everything back. The tone this game goes for is really special and if they can recreate that with a new cast of likable characters and a compelling story, I'm 100% behind it.
Bumppp for prequel announcement
I cried, and then pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition. Actual PSA to anyone pre-ordering, the Deluxe has an entirely new chapter in it where you play as a young Max, so it's probably worth shelling out for if you can. I don't think that's in the regular pre-order.

So Ashly Burch isn't voicing Chloe this time. Hopefully the new voice actor sounds close enough.
.. wait what? Are they locking content to a pre-order version, or is the Deluxe version going to be available past release?
The latter, I'm just saying because I imagine a lot of people who are fans will want to pre-order it and the Deluxe has more story content.

yea where was it confirmed because it sounds like Ashly Burch in the trailer
Also... isn't she writing the fucking game or something?
They confirmed it's a different voice actor for Chloe this time. But yes, Ashly is still on the team as a writer, strangely enough.

Fans of Ashly will know she’s an Emmy nominated writer and it’s great to have her writing dialogue for a new younger, 16 year old Chloe, this time voiced by extremely talented actress Rhianna DeVries.
Fourth paragraph.
Aaand my expectations went even lower
why

Her voice in the barn scene was pretty good, but the junkyard scene was a little off. She sounds exactly like the OG Chloe when she yells, so maybe she should just scream the entire game. :v:

The reason Ashly Burch isn't re-voicing Chloe is due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. It was on her Twitter, IIRC.
The gameplay just took a huge nosedive because now you can't plan out your actions and have to go with your wits. Their advantage over your everyday Telltale game, gone. Just like that. And they didn't find a replacement mechanic. Not to mention the overworld activities too, like helping some random person before it is too late.
I'm slightly worried about the writing since it's being helmed by a new team. I mean say what you want about the cringey dialogue and embarrassing pop culture referential self-insertions in LiS 1 but I think the overarching storyline was really good and when the melodramatic scenes worked, they really hit. We don't know anything about the new developer (besides that their most popular game was Pain from 2007) and their writers, and their website has been broken for like a week now.
