The long-rumored PS4 compilation of the previous HD releases has finally been confirmed They'll be all released on a single disc

So now we have an exact date, 24th January 2017 Also, while the intro is well-made to be sure, I was never able to take this over the top Final Fantasy-esque intros seriously
That's so cool. I need a ps4 so I can play it, love the remix as well.
Final trailer for KH HD: 2.8 Prologue (I hope I got the title right), with plenty of new interesting gameplay footage To be honest, the feature that allows you to customize Aqua screams of "JAPANESE RPG" to me like nothing in existence
Bump. Apparently I missed two important previews for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. The first one is a full gameplay video The second is the final trailer, which I added to the OP
So, at the very least in Europe, 2.8 is going out on next Tuesday, and I could use some advice. Should I play Birth By Sleep 2.0 and Kingdom Hearts 3D HD on Critical difficulty or set on a more manageable Normal? I'd play them on Critical to get the secret endings right off the bat and YouTube material and generally save time on a possible second playthrought, but I'd hate to end up like I did in Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, where Critical make the secret bosses so fucking hard I don't have any choice but to stop playing altogether

If the achievement list I found is to be believed Birth By Sleep 2.0 will have a Proud and Critical mode, because there's an achievement for clearing it on either Proud or Critical. Oddly enough, Kingdom Hearts 3D features a Beginner difficulty and then jumps straight to either Proud or Critical, but the HD remake doesn't seem to have a trophy to clear it on the advanced difficulties. I think I'll chose a middle ground and play both on Proud
So how much important story have I missed by not playing ANY of the portable games except Chain of Memories?
So how much important story have I missed by not playing ANY of the portable games except Chain of Memories?
358/2 Days is mostly skippable or watchable on HD Remix, it explains what Roxas did in Organization XIII and helps characterize him more while also being the origin of the character Xion. Re:Coded is mostly skippable as while it may have some form of relevance to the overarching plot eventually, it isn't that big of a deal yet. Birth By Sleep is a prequel that kicks off the entire series and the beginning of the main antagonist's plot that runs throughout the franchise along with setting up other crucial points, so it's a mandatory course. And Dream Drop Distance is, HD Remixes aside, the literal Kingdom Hearts 2.5 as the plot leads out of 2 and sets up the events for 3, making it mandatory as well.
I honestly can't even begin to imagine the confusion of a playe who'll jump from Kingdom Hearts II to Kingdom Hearts III without playing Kingdom Hearts 3D. The same of the people who jumped to Kingdom Hearts II from the original game without playing Chain of Memories, I suppose
In regards to 0.2 difficulties, you will have to play on Proud first anyway. Zero Exp and Critical are locked until you beat it once.
Ok, today I immediately started to dig in 2.8, since I had basically the whole morning free. As I said elsewhere, Birth By Sleep 2.0 - A Fragmentary Passage is to Kingdom Hearts III what Ground Zero was to MGS V: The Phantom Pain: it's basically a glorified demo that took me four hours to complete. I'm not even sure I'll replay it because the resident "bonus boss" is just [sp]a boss rush, with a mini-boss you already defeated buffed up as the final encounter[/sp]. Not exactly my thing. 2.0 gives a look at what to expect from Kingdom Hearts III in advance, and there are pros and cons PROs 1) The graphics are definitely several steps ahead and they make good use of the new console. The cutscenes are filled with details, the frame rate is consistent and remains at 60 fps most of the time (there are some hiccups during cutscenes too, though), the levels you visit are detaied and wide and there are sometimes some breathtaking effects (the final boss of the demo is literally [sp]a tide of hundreds and hundreds of shadows moving and taking damage as you'd expect such a thing would do, and it's glorious[/sp]) 2) They took back the puzzle and platforming elements from Kingdom Hearts which were missing since Kingdom Hearts II, and they are rather welcomed as they break the offer something else to do aside from battles 3) Abilities, magic and special attacks work just like they did in Kingdom Hearts II, but the command styles from Birth By Sleep return. Also, now magic gets more powerful the more you use it: for instance, instead of using firaga directly, if you use the fire magic enough you get to unleash a single, more powerful firaga spell 4) Enemies and bosses are challenging and interesting CONs 1) The new graphical engine makes the characters proper look, shall we say, off for some reason. Both the human and cartoon characters look like plastic Barbie dolls of something. They are kinda unnerving at times 2) I know that complaining about an optional feature is somehow useless, but the whole Wardrobe function seems to be a pure form of cathering towards the Japanese audience more than anything else. I'd had also been far more receptive if any of the unlockables would fit more or less naturally into the character's model. But they just don't. 3) If Mickey is anything to go by, they still have to fix the general AI of your companions. As to say, make it even remotely useful. As it stands, the AI: - Sits on its ass for the majority of the fight while you get mauled - If it can heal you, it will do so whenever it feels like it (sometimes it's overzealous and wastes its healing spell even if you are not that injured, some other times you have ran our of MP and are desperate for a cure but it won't give it to you) Not much else to say about 2.0 aside from the fact that Aqua's moping get a bit tiresome after a while and, in the epilogue, [sp]there's something definitely off about Sora (maybe it's the VA or the sudden postures he makes all the time, but I'll admit I don't like the character in the first place, so it may as well be me)[/sp]. Unchained X - Back Cover is just an hour long movie using the same engine of the game's cutscenes and does little else than summing up the general plot of the mobile game. I really don't know what to think of the Master of Masters, who at this point may as well be the most important character in the whole franchise, but acts in such a way that he's either genuinely funny or feels incredibly out of place in every scene he's in
new KH3 screenshot. That looks really good, and that new drive form i'm guessing!
Nomura himself said that is one of the many ways the keyblade can morph into something else now. Case in point, a shield
Hope there will be 2000 heartless gauntlets this time The last 1000 one made me feel like a war hero
Anyone else hyped up to play the remakes of 1 and 2 coming out on PS4 in a couple of days?

I've update the OP a bit. Also, this may as well be a personal bias of mine, althought I don't have anything against either Toy Story, Tangled or Big Hero 6, but the increased focus on DIsney-Pixar movies as the base of the game's worlds is starting to concern me
I've update the OP a bit. As far as world go I would love for them to include Shibuya and Zootopia, it's a lot of urban setting but I don't mind, they're vastly different styles. Treasure Planet and Atlantis would be cool too.
https://www.destructoid.com/kingdom-hearts-3-will-have-less-disney-worlds-than-kh2-449656.phtml It seems they will include less Disney Worlds in KH3. However this maybe also means We will see worlds from different SquareEnix games.
Looking at the original interview synopsis:
The Toy Story world is set after Toy Story 2. It isn’t a parallel world. Rather, the events of Kingdom Hearts III are part of the Toy Story time axis. (In other words, it is canon.) While it is not shown in the trailer, at the start Sora is mistaken for a character in the latest game to be released in this world.
huh, getting rather meta there nomura
By the way, it's my understanding that Big Hero 6 takes place in our own reality, so to speak, only in the future. At the same time, the series of Toy Story most definitely takes place in our world. So, does this means that every different world from the Kingdom Hearts universe is basically a different alternative reality or something? Do we simply get to visit the same "location", only in a different guise and call each "a world"? Wow, that's some deep phlosophical shit right here
A [sp]Monsters Inc[/sp] World might have been leaked:
I'm a bit sceptical because in Birth By Sleep it was clearly enstablished that [sp]the Unversed existence was closely tied to Vanitas', and since the latter is gone for good, so much that no amount of retcon could save him[/sp], the Unversed returning in Kingdom Hearts III would be an excessive narrative stunt, even by Nomura's standards. That and maybe I don't think [sp]Monsters Inc.[/sp] would make a nice world premise and am still concerned about the lack of Disney Classics worlds revealed this far

I hope they plan to bring back the Cum Guardian for KHIII. It was a formidable foe.
So when can we expect Arlen, Texas to be a new world? I'm expecting Hank Hill to be a worthy party member.
