Save the game after the prologue is over. I usually keep one right before the Axel fight
One thing I really, really don't like about KH2 is most of the worlds are now like corridors to the objective, unlike KH1 in which it felt like each world had a hub you kept coming back to that acted as a base.

A refined focus also resulted in a narrower path, though it's not as bad as, say, Birth By Sleep. Meanwhile Dream Drop Distance pretends to have larger areas for a more hub-like feel, but they're so devoid of anything other than fights and the occasional treasure chest that it comes off as too large and pointless for its own good.
I will say that oh my god the Mulan World continues to be the blandest thing ever. It should be so cool but with the exception of one area, legit every single room is a completely empty box. Even as a kid it was disappointing.

To be honest to me it's more of a mixed bag.
Kingdom Hearts had an heavier emphasis on exploration and platforming, true, but more often than not that emphasis meant having to backtrack through a world's different zones constantly hoping to bump into the next cutscenes and giving a distant glare to collectables you knew you couldn't access right off the bat.
By the way the Final Mix of Kingdom Hearts II tried to allievate this by introducing new collectables requiring some platforming skills to get and an entire optional dungeon where using your growth mobility ability to near perfection is pretty much mandatory to advance
I really, really wish that the worlds were more focused on their own individual stories like the first game, it feels like, despite the fact that they're in the worlds, the game really, really tries hard to push the main plot over the importance of each world's own story.
I miss some Kingdom Hearts 1 Heartless in terms of design. I think the late heartless should have still appeared in 2.
Invisible, Angel, Wizard or Defender.

I'll never understand why each world in Kingdom Hearts II needed a second visit at all, especially since in the game proper the deal plays out like this:
1) During your first visit you are given a very brief summary of the related Disney movie's story.
2) During your second visit you are basically partaking into filler as the resident Organization XIII member fucks around.
I have a very troubled relationship with Kingdom Hearts 2, all things considered
I had apparently forgotten how much is fucking filler, I think one world, one, gets more content on the return, and it’s an inner world to the one in which they put the most effort into anyways. I remember being able to explore KH1 worlds, in KH2? Almost nothing is worth investigating.
Man China, Pride Lands, Port Royal and Halloween Town are so nothing, though at least Halloween Town is interesting to look at. I hardly even distinguish the location unlike the first game which I actually played through recently. I think there’s a total of one hidden area in all of KH2.
I've beaten the original KH 5 times and the second one once if that tells you anything. Combat is still pretty fun and I like the extra forms they give you but the world design is so blah and linear. And fuck the worlds with the "missions" system especially in the Mulan level. Felt so forced and unfun.
"Let's reuse the literally empty Palace section of Mulan"
Seriously even as a kid that looked fucking terrible.
Oh wow i forgot how silly the Roxas part is.
Daily reminder of FUCK the person who designed the nobodies that can grab you out of every single fucking movement and does a dickload of damage when they throw you.

Just bought the 1.5+2.5 collection on PS4. Now I have 1 and 2 on PS2, PS3 and PS4 lol

Seriously, I'm not joking, fuck the person who okay'd it being able to HARD CANCEL YOU OUT OF ANY MOVEMENT and then do most of your health in damage. Just. Fuck you. That's bad. That's beyond bad
Not as worse as those heartless cars that have a mini desperate move that negates all damage for a moment and just rams you
I'm so fucking confused by how Keyblade users in modern day are so fucking powerful even though they were originally dime a dozen. Like, Riku and Sora can do so many universe changing things, and Sora wasn't even supposed to even have one

I'd say it is akin to the Jedi. Individually the Keyblade Wielders just swung and followed their Union teachings as they tossed magic around, with some expanding on that depending on the Heart of the wielder. The different Union leaders were powerful, but [sp]the protagonist of X can fend four of them off in a row solo in the midst of the Keyblade War anyway.[/sp] When given the freedom to experiment and discover things on their own, the modern Keyblade Wielders basically had no teachings to tie them down and the sky as the proverbial limit, and even the BBS trio got teachings directly from a Keyblade Master who properly trained and geared them up as disciples directly. In Ventus' case, two different masters.
Plus, Sora and Riku wield Keyblades tied to the very realms of Light and Dark in the first place; while this hasn't yet implied specific powers exclusive to them, they're practically the Chosen Ones of chosen ones to the point that Sora made himself the Keyblade Wielder of the Kingdom Key of Light. And Riku effectively harnessed his potential, refined his heart and gained his own Keyblade the hard way rather than being easily picked. This inclines that both of their hearts are retardedly powerful by the series' standards, enough so that [sp]Xehanort picked Sora as a potential vessel in 3D for a reason after previously either only focusing on Roxas as Xemnas or brushing him off as Ansem; something that KH3 seems to be picking up on somewhat.[/sp] Plus BBS already demonstrated that Sora's got a seemingly one-of-a-kind existence to boot.
So it's a mix of better circumstances for more efficient teaching, and metric tons of plot power out the ass, albeit power they had to earn painfully. Like the Jedi, they were powerful in numbers but dropped like flies: once the story starts focusing on set characters, the power and competence has to rise to make them survive for plausible amounts of time, and their growth and power accelerated exponentially for the writing because they stand out or are special in some way.
Seeing Sora using keyblade guns, shield etc in 3 really makes me wish they're gonna add the whip transformation and other stuff that was seen in final mix 2.
Having other weapons would be great, or at least, weapon transformations

Truth be told both the Dancer Nobodies and Hot Rod Heartless are a fucking menace the first times you get to fight them but become increasingly easier to deal with once you achieve enough MPs and magical power to spam Magnega and stunlock them indefinitely.
Personally my unfavorite enemies from Kingdom Hearts II are the Devastator Heartless from Space Paranoids and the Berserker Nobodies, because each have this sudden, long as shit attack chain they can pull off at a moment's notice which stunlocks you for several second and can nearly one-hit kill you at higher difficulties
Beating KH2 again finally, after doing like every side thing I could before the finale. I thought it was just me not paying attention as a kid but nope, that whole city dragon thing and knight armour and stuff comes out of fucking nowhere.
...Why the FUCK are the controls in BBS so weird?
I remember originally wanting a PS4 so I definitely had something to play KH3 on when it came out. I think I could have waited haha.
Every couple of years I get dragged into a replay and all social life I knew disappears, no regrets.
Predictable I guess but KH1 will forever be my favourite, I hope Utada does the KH3 opening now she's active again.
Oh my fucking god every time I've touched BBS I have to remember all over again that Terra is retarded.
Like
Genuinely mentally handicapped. Objectively evil people tell him, from the FIRST LEVEL to go murder people. Yeah. Murder. Kill. Maim. Destroy. And his response is "You seem like a good person, I'll go kill SNOW WHITE"

To be honest they really needed an idiot equal or worse than Riku Kingodm Hearts 1 to give the "Hey it's basically Riku, Sora and... Kairi(?)" trio style.
Still doesn't help that Aqua and Ven are not smart either. Aqua having no clue on how friends work and Ven being Ven.
[sp] Aqua saving Terranort also bothers me so much[/sp]
Aqua isn't a human. Nothing she says makes sense.
