Corocoro leaked. Necrozma has two new Z moves, for Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam, along with retaining Prism Armor. Solgaleo and Lunala can use their respected Z Moves as well. Not anything super exciting, however they made changes to Rotom-Dex.
In addition to this, it mentions Z Rotom Power, where if you have good compatibility with Rotom, it can power up Z-Moves by letting you use Z-Moves more than once in one battle. Rotom Dex also has various new features introduced in the game. The magazine lists it as becoming more like you the more you use it. Rotom will also help you to get items & powers using a feature called Rotopon which access items in a feautre listed as "Rotom Power" which do things such as boost experience. You can also interact with the Rotom Pokédex more, answering questions from it and getting reactions
So Game Freak wants everyone to be friends with this thing, so it makes the game even easier. I'm just gonna assume the Pokemon Company and Game Freak thinks everyone who plays Pokemon are morons and think we need all the help we can get and need our hand held at all times.
I really hope they give us an option to turn it off. I want to answer questions and pet my Pokemon or whatever without having it somehow affecting the game difficulty.
At this point I felt they should have a "level limiter" item which soft caps the party's level (e.g. battle maison but player sets the level) so players who wants a challenge can still enjoy the benefits of EXP Share (balanced team) and PokeAmie
I don't like that they're making the games easier, but it's not like they were ever that hard to begin with. There are plenty of difficulty increasing romhacks for every gen, which can provide an actual challenge if you want that. Combine that with the fact that you can play romhacks of every gen on the 3DS with like 30 minutes of setup if you follow basic instructions: 1-3 via custom VC injects, 4/5 via TWLoader/nds-bootstrap, 6/7 natively via a plethora of methods. There's also the slight matter that the old games aren't nearly as hard as people give them credit for being, you were just MUCH worse at Pokemon when you were a kid. We aren't the core demographic and haven't been since we passed age 10 or so. If you want the games to be hard then play a challenge mode romhack of some kind.
Sun and Moon felt like it was balanced around using the EXP share. I turned it off immediately and ended up being about 20 levels behind most of my opponents by the end.
The games are balanced with Exp Share on, but Refresh off, in mind. Except the Elite 4 and postgame bosses from SM on, where they have EV trained 'mons and are about the same level as you'd be, so they have an advantage.
. On the topic of pokemon, when I first played Yellow I was so bad I had no idea you had to press down on (what I now know are) doormats to exit your house
I turned off EXP Share in Moon and while I found it to be a little tough at times there was never a point where I was hopelessly behind in levels compared to my opponents.

Getting banned is a big one, since Nintendo's been doling out ban waves recently using detection criteria that the community still hasn't nailed down. I have a hacked system because it's a secondary 3DS separate from the one all my purchased games are on, but most people only have one system and don't want to risk it. Hacking isn't a solution for everyone. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with using mods, of course. It's great that the community has found ways to add what they want to the games. I've just gotten a little tired of you always telling people to just hack their systems instead of trying to do things legitimately or wanting to talk about things we want Nintendo/GF to add natively to the games. I know we aren't talking directly to GF, but it doesn't hurt to talk about it.
We aren't the core demographic and haven't been since we passed age 10 or so.
Also, this is just false. Difficult challenges have manifested themselves in different ways throughout the series, but they've always been present in the form of optional things like battle facilities, post-game areas, turning off EXP Share, etc. And of course, there's B2W2 that actually had a built-in hard mode you could select. A game series doesn't have to target a specific age range. It's possible for games to have a wide-reaching appeal. For Pokemon in particular, it's obvious that they want to include older players as well since they feature older people in ads and the last couple generations had older protagonists and more complex characters.
Getting banned is a big one, since Nintendo's been doling out ban waves recently using detection criteria that the community still hasn't nailed down.
The detection criteria have been known for ages now. It's launching illegal (read: homebrew) titleids, which are phoned home by the friends module and BOSS module. Launching 3dsx payloads via *hax/Rosalina HBL shouldn't be detectable. I can't present solutions I don't have. If someone can solve their problem with CFW then I will tell them that. I'm not telling anyone they have to do so, it's their system and their choice, but I feel like at least informing them of the option is potentially worthwhile.
The detection criteria have been known for ages now. I tried looking into what the consensus was on ban reasons just last month and didn't find anything conclusive.
Could you provide a source for that? I tried looking into what the consensus was on ban reasons just last month and didn't find anything conclusive.
Friends module is known to phone home all titles that are launched so that they can be displayed to your friends. You can verify that easily enough by monitoring the traffic from your 3DS. The BOSS module stuff is documented on 3DBrew somewhere, and I think it also phones home the last title that was launched when you turn on your wifi. Honestly considering the huge amount of telemetry the 3DS is sending out they probably have a 99%+ detection rate of CFW. As for why they aren't banning everyone we can only speculate, most likely they're being incredibly cautious so as to avoid potential false positives.
I still haven't gotten banned yet. This is gonna jinx me I know.
I still haven't gotten banned yet. This is gonna jinx me I know.
It's unlikely you will be at this point unless they do another proper banwave. Even if they do you can unban yourself in 30 seconds with a public seed, though it's advisable to back up your seed somewhere and switch to a public one anyway.
TBH, they are probably aware that 3DS hacking got popular, and that handing bans to people who fucked around for half an hour or so would probably be detrimental to the userbase.
Got the Shiny Gyarados with mimic in gen 1 trick to work! [t]https://scontent.fsnc1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/22382491_1537662782939401_7209610789566961516_o.jpg?oh=e8f363e48ee12a8d4b4dce63cec1ce51&oe=5A43D81C[/t]
The Rotom Dex being expanded upon I think is more of an improvement because, let's be honest, Rotom Dex was almost entirely useless in SM midway through the game. The only thing it had was the Town Map, PokeDex and PokeFinder. Also this:
Rotom will also help you to get items & powers using a feature called Rotopon which access items in a feautre listed as "Rotom Power" which do things such as boost experience.
It sounds like Rotopon will be similar to O-Powers. Would make raising teams much less of a grind and less time spent at the Battle Buffet if the Battle Buffet appears in USUM.
Sweet merciful that Mimikyu and Gigalith.
The Z-Moves have gotten so ridiculous they might need to slap in a huge K.O. on knockouts to match the spectacle.

Rotom dex was useless in S/M but I'm actually looking foward to these new features. I also think the z-move refill is pretty cool. It's for single player, so why not go nuts with it? [editline]12th October 2017[/editline]
:wideeye:
Honestly? The only option, what with Lunala and Solgaleo having inverse Attack/Sp.Attack stats, unless they went a Kyurem route and had a different move depending on which it fused with.
Am I the only one completely uninterested in Sun/Moon 2. I think I'm gonna skip it for the next game (hopefully on the switch)
I’m not COMPLETELY uninterested but I’m certainly not thrilled about it
Am I the only one completely uninterested in Sun/Moon 2. I think I'm gonna skip it for the next game (hopefully on the switch)
Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, and BW2 all sold about half of what the other two did. You're far from alone.
I won't get it either this time. I'm about to finish Moon and don't really need it a second time. Some stuff looks cool though. I'll wait for Pokemon Switch which will hopefully introduce revolutionary changes like a freely rotating camera and the likes.
Anyone else who can't get a hold of Marshadow, I got a spare code. EU only I assume.
Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, and BW2 all sold about half of what the other two did. You're far from alone.
Which is a shame, because Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and I can only assume Platinum were all objectively better than their counterparts. I mean, it's obvious why, though. With Red/Blue, it was two games you had a choice of, right there. Then Yellow came out, and... It's the same game. Who's the target audience? People who already bought Red/Blue. So only enthusiasts would likely buy it again, or the very few who bought it without having played the others (I actually played got Yellow and Crystal, but not Red/Blue or Gold Silver). Being the enthusiast, I always looked forward to the "third" game, to see what they came up with. Instead, they seem to be going a bit of a different route and making sequels, which seems to be like a whole game's worth of an expansion that yes you're playing through essentially the same game again, but a lot is different.
Does anyone have an EU spare code for marshadow? I would really appreciate it, if someone had one to give.
I hope they actually add a national dex to USUM.
