Most of the times that I play Pokemon games I usually end up with similar teams more-or-less, since I usually go with favorites and just level them up high enough to power through the game. Anyone have any recommendations and challenges for how I could switch it up? I did try playing Sun/Moon, but I got too busy with other stuff that I haven't really touched my 3DS since the beginning of this year.
I just decided that I want to use the lvl 12 Salamence in my first Ultra run, wish me luck!
So I think I encountered a glitch in Ultra Sun. There's a scientist on route 8 you can battle that has an Amaura and an Omanyte. I was fighting the Amaura and it used Take Down on my Larvitar, which should've been not very effective, but instead it was super effective and it OHKO'd me. Last I checked, normal type moves aren't supposed to be super effective against anything.
Ok so, I got as far as the Elite 4 in Sun. Or rather, just after getting Solgaleo. Would it be worth it at all to trade it in for Ultra Sun?

It's really fucking stupid that [sp]They basically gave up on Alohan forms[/sp]
Whoever stuck Noibat in the first cave on Melemele is a monster.
Man, fuck furfrou. Every time I run into that motherfucker it’s like nigh impossible to kill it, what’s the defense on him? On a side note, I’m jumping on the bandwagon everyone else is on: I’m ditching my starter this time around (chose Poplio, in the original I chose rowlet), in favor of the mystery gift Rockruff.
It's really fucking stupid that [sp]They basically gave up on Alohan forms[/sp]
They always give up on new concepts and ideas so fast. With how they are apparently pressured for the Switch game being out in 2018, I don't have that many hopes on complete new features.

On the topic of Driftveil City [editline]19th November 2017[/editline] In all seriousness Gen V had probably the best pokemon tunes next to Gen II and IV, Gen VII comes close too

Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter have updated, BTW. Complete with VC Pokemon Crystal support.
usum story spoilers [sp]Holy fucking shit Ultra Necrozma OHKO'd my entire team like nothing. I couldn't even touch it. I thought I was suppose to lose because of how strong it is, but no, I have to kill something that outspeeds everything I have and one-shots everything I have. This is insane.[/sp]
Pick your MOST preferred team building style for first playthroughs. Just curious. I understand that nobody build teams solely based on a single factor, but rating is limited so only pick the one you deem most enjoyable for your adventures. Winner: Full composition considered (literally competitive) Zing: Type coverage takes priority Informative: Potential strength takes priority Friendly: Favorite pokemon (or aesthetics-based) takes priority Useful: Ability utility (in/out of combat) takes priority Optimistic: No plans. Catch and attach whatever found Artistic: New/untried pokemon takes priority Late: Relative power (Pokemon that excels in specific level range or gym) takes priority
See my thing is I'm a combination of those things When I make my team, I want good type coverage, so I avoid having any type repeats if possible. I also avoid boring Pokémon, so I don't plan on using Persian or Raticate. I also take into account if they're horrible or not. Some Pokémon are nice, but their stats just make it not too worth it. But if it's for the campaign, it shouldn't be that bad, at least. And if I used them before, I'm not using them now. Its finicky yet satisfying. :v:
I always go for a couple favorites then round it out with some type coverage to account for important weaknesses. Also trying to avoid duplicate types in general though that's not always possible due to dual-types.
Sometimes it works tho; Alolan Muk, Haunter and Zoroark have no overlapping weaknesses, for example, but plenty of type overlap.
I mostly do Nuzlockes by default these days, part of the reason being that I like how it often forces me to use new things where I would probably otherwise lean more towards previous favorites.
Mine's a mix of competitive and untried pokemon. Somehow, I can't stand having a powerhouse, I need my entire team to be diverse and useful. I don't mind weak pokemon if their exp curve can offset their poor BST or moveset, but they are more likely to be replaced on the fly if something better (and cooler) pops up.

My personal mix is partially favorite, partially new. I prefer to use favorites and new gen Pokémon that look cool, but also putting in some that I've never really used. It keeps the experience rather fresh.
I always tell myself the kind of team I want but wind up distracted and using whatever. By the end of story playthroughs I'm usually carrying 2 favorites I managed to find along the way, 2 strong pokemon (usually if not always my starter) and 2 weaklings that I'm just leveling to fill out my dex.
Hm I wonder if I can breed a specific Pokeball onto a Dusk Form Rockruff.
Hm I wonder if I can breed a specific Pokeball onto a Dusk Form Rockruff.
Entirely possible. I think it was the first thing confirmed by Scires when he dumped the new breeding method.
I still play Pokemon Go with my wife while we take the dog out for walks daily. Wish they'd actually add more stuff to the app.
Expect even less (if that is entirely possible) once they release their Harry Potter AR game.
There are still 550 or so 'mons still not in the game.
I've been told that two story mandated fights near the end are go-fuck-yourself hard for casual teams Can anyone confirm?
