Groudon but not Kyogre? The fuck is that?
It's just a trailer, calm down. Groudon probably won't even be part of the initial wave, and even if it is I'm sure Kyogre will follow soon after. Origin Pulse (along with Precipice Blades) was added in the update that just dropped, so it's coming. Don't worry. Ho-Oh showed up in the original Legendary trailer we got at the beginning of the summer, and look how long it took for us to actually get it. [editline]6th December 2017[/editline]
No Castform either, pretty weird to not see it as they're adding the weather.
The weather effects won't be added until later this month. It makes sense to wait on Castform until weather is actually in the game.
Oh well, here is hoping we get Psystrike, Aeroblast and Sacred Fire, then. And I'm speaking before checking the update...
Oh well, here is hoping we get Psystrike, Aeroblast and Sacred Fire, then. And I'm speaking before checking the update...
Here are all the new moves added in the update:
Fast Moves: Take Down Waterfall Yawn (Likely for Slaking, probably has no function other than to simulate Truant and balance Slaking's immense stats.) Present (The Santa bird is coming to town!) Charge Moves: Surf Draco Meteor Doom Desire (Jirachi signature move) Psycho Boost (Deoxys signature move) Origin Pulse (Kyogre signature move) Precipice Blades (Groudon signature move)
Waterfall Gyarados is all I wanted for Christmas...
It's in the trailer though.
oh I couldn't watch cuz I was at work earlier and just went off that picture I'll allow you all to bother with it now
Looks like these assumptions about which Pokemon are going to be included in the first 50 might be off-base. Probably safer to just wait and see before we get hyped/unhyped over which Pokemon are in the first wave.
I'm dreading Feebas and hyped for it at the same time... Oh well, what a good moment to remember Milotic should learn more attacks. Dazzling Gleam, Psychic, Thunderbolt...
i'm pretty unhappy with ultra moon as far as i've gotten - i've just cleared the 3rd island - there are very few changes and some of them make the game worse than it was before (the new stupidly chatty and demeaning rotom dex being a primary example.) not to mention gen 7 is eminently less replayable than previous games in the series due to their huge focus on gameplay-interrupting cutscenes, which ultra sm only makes worse through the bolted-on addition of the ultra dimension people subplot. many problems that bogged down the first game weren't fixed; double battles still lag horribly and some z crystals are just lying around with practically no pomp or circumstance. and from what i've heard, there isn't even a battle frontier! i could forgive sun and moon's flaws the first time around since in a lot of ways they were really well made and a breath of fresh air, but now it's just going through the motions. i wasn't expecting a completely new game or anything, as it had only a year's worth of development time, but this really goes beyond the pale! it doesn't feel like these sequels were made to provide a comprehensive, updated experience based in the same region, like crystal, emerald, or platinum, but instead to cash in on the existing game and exploit collectors/people who need move tutors. does anyone else share my disappointment?
What really disappointed me about USUM is the realization that they're straight upgrades to S/M. There's no longer any reason to play S/M when USUM is here. I get that some USUM features are a undesirable, but in terms of overall content, USUM is objectively better. At least when Emerald was better, but it was still a different experience than Ruby. Ruby was different in ways. (but still, imo, you're better off getting Emerald over Ruby/Sapphire). B2/W2 nailed it, giving a reason to play Black/White as well. I feel like I bought the same game, again. It's not US/UM, it's S/M 2.0. And not even in a tongue and cheek way.
3rd versions were always better.
3rd versions were always better.
Third versions still had a case of "the other two are now obsolete." US/UM just have it worse. I was hoping for B2W2 again.
Can anyone else not seem to get a good variety of pokemon to show up in the Battle Agency? When I go to recruit other trainers, I rarely get more than 2 or 3, and they're almost always at base rank. I don't know how to go about getting better/more trainers to show up.
Third versions still had a case of "the other two are now obsolete." US/UM just have it worse. I was hoping for B2W2 again.
B2W2 were good, but lacked something 3rd versions tend to have: Closure. We didn't see the original dragon, we didn't learn anything more about Genesect, we didn't see the PC of the originals (something that they did right the first time they did sequels)... As this was a new plot rather than an improved one, they left some threads hanging, but, all in all, things were a bit half-assed. Hell, Kyurem has to know Scary Face of all things so it can have a Fusion move when it changes forme. Emerald and Platinum felt like improved upon versions of the previous games. A director's cut, a way to get a new experience by means of a changed story where both version mascots appear, and with a quite different selection of wild Pokemon (although that's the point where Yellow and specially Crystal shine; Phanpy AND Teddiursa before the first gym is something completely different from GS). Unova did a good move making sequels, as they were placing heavy emphasis on there being 2 versions of Unova with small differences (hell, they released 2 identical movies save for the details at that time), so a third version wouldn't really flow. With Alola, there are canonically 2 parallel Alolas you can go from one to another, but I personally think a single third version with Ultra Necrozma as a mascot, and with good usage of the parallel world, could have worked better. Either that, or sequels, but paired third versions are meh. And I'm not fond of the concept of paired versions anyway, hence why I'll always rally behind a single release.

We didn't need a Pokemon Grey to see the "original dragon." Or find out more about Genesect. They could have implimented that if they wanted to, but they didn't (imo the "original dragon" was never really a thing to see, more of like an origin story, so we'd never see it no matter what option). Emerald/Platinum did feel like the difinivite version, but the more I think about it, the more I think "they should stick to B2W2's forumua." Why play Diamond when you can play Platinum? The Disorted World for Platinum could have been treated similar to the Delta Episode from ORAS, instead of forcing it to be part of the main game. It could be blended in. Rayquaza was included into the story fine in ORAS instead of having to be the main star like Emerald. The bottom line for me is, they raised the bar high with B2W2, and then crawled under it with USUM.
I dislike the paired versions deal. Third versions didn't come in pairs. I also want to catch Reshiram and Zekrom, or Xerneas and Yveltal, or Solgaleo and Lunala in the same game. Or be able to evolve Rockruff without being limited by which game I have. Sequels being good things and better than improved versions? Of course a sequel brings more to the table than a third version. But first, stop making games that require a third version to be complete. I'm looking at you, DP and XY. If there is something I can praise about the Gamecube games, it is that.

Lugia's theme from 'The Power of One' can be heard in that teaser.

So for Celebi are they just gonna do the mystery gift receipt code thing again, or will we finally be able to do the Ilex Forest event? I really hope they let us do the event, not only because it'd be cool to finally do it legitimately after all these years, but because shiny celebi will finally become legal

"the next adventure after silver/gold" Honestly I really wish they said "yes, we're coming out with Crystal" because I already bought Pokemon Gold.
"the next adventure after silver/gold" Honestly I really wish they said "yes, we're coming out with Crystal" because I already bought Pokemon Gold.
If they had said that, you wouldn't have bought Gold though, would you?
Maybe because of the mobile adapter thing? That or they're waiting for people to give in to the hype, jump on the train early and then sell them Crystal later to get even more profit
Fucking lmao But hey, if they find a way to make the ingame Celebi encounter real that'd be pretty cool

I don't think that the shiny lock on the ageto one works, but I'm not 100% since I've never actually tried to RNG it.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/8Phj4qg.png[/t] Naganadel, codenamed UB:Stinger, and U-Necrozma's official artwork.
The Ultra Beast known as UB Adhesive or Poipole evolves into the Ultra Beast Naganadel. A number of different Ultra Beasts have been discovered to date, but this is the first time any UB has been found to evolve! Naganadel gains the Dragon type when it evolves from Poipole and can battle with powerful Dragon-type moves, including Dragon Pulse. Naganadel has stingers on its lower body and each shoulder. The powerful poison it fires from the largest stinger, on the end of its abdomen, can travel over a staggering six miles! It may look like a huge stomach, but Naganadel’s abdomen contains its brain and hundreds of liters of poisonous liquid. This poisonous liquid is peculiar, being both highly adhesive and luminescent. The stingers that attach to its abdomen are directly connected to its brain. As a result, it hates to have these stingers touched. It will furiously attack anyone who touches them. Dragon types are normally not suitable for taking on Fairy types, but using its Poison type to its advantage, this Ultra Beast will be able to effectively attack them due to its powerful combination of types. It also has a high Speed stat, so you can look forward to it putting its speedy moves to work in battle!
We knew Crystal was going to be a thing since Sun/Moon came out, pretty much. The blatant spaces in coding (down to the eShop) and the compatibility updates in Transporter and the like were screaming at us it was going to happen. Also, damn if Light That Burns The Sky doesn't feel good with Ultra Necrozma's theme as background music. Should had been part of that battle, getting literally nuked.
Fucking lmao But hey, if they find a way to make the ingame Celebi encounter real that'd be pretty cool
We got the E-Reader SMB3 levels, so maybe they'll give us the GS Ball too?
Okay real talk with all the streamlining of mechanics the game does, why is it that the herbs and Focus Sash still permanently disappear after a non-battle facility battle despite being such rare items? I get berries being consumed since they're generally available at a sustainable rate, but to give me an item and to explain the value of it and why it's so powerful just to lose it in a single battle is such an asinine decision. I equipped a Focus Sash on my Ribombee just to get past Totem Kommo-o and now I have to wait until I amass 48 bp or whatever in postgame in order to do that again.
If they had said that, you wouldn't have bought Gold though, would you?
Yet why did they not do this with Blue/Red?

Kinda strange thing to leave in there to be honest, especially when you know that people are going to find it nearly instantly.
