No it wouldn't, because Mario Kart is not turn based.
They already have been changing up some of the basic gameplay of Pokemon, though. Gyms and HM's were a staple since Gen I and were removed entirely in favor of Boss Pokemon and Poke-Rides. Not going around collecting badges anymore is huge, and having to rely on some other trainer's Pokemon to help you out seems to go against the idea of raising your own Pokemon to help you along your journey.
I think they probably could change up the gameplay and still make something fun, but maybe for a spin-off instead so people don't get upset that "this is what my new Pokemon is?" Other longer running series have changed up their battle systems and basic mechanics, some even multiple times (Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda to name a few), becoming the new standard for their series, and are still going strong today. People even still ask for another Zelda II-styled game, which was a one-off over 30yrs old.
But I do agree a spin-off might be the best way to do it at this point considering how far they are into the main series. They do have Pokemon Mystery Dungeon which is a huge departure from the mainline games and is well-loved, I don't think it'd hurt to have another spin-off series going with a different battle style.
I appreciated the attempt to shake things up by leaving gyms in favor of trials, but the trials are just much less interesting. They're either very short puzzles, or feel padded out. Basically the equivalent of a puzzle gym versus a gym where you just face trainers.
I did like, though, the departure of HM's because I didn't like feeling compelled to have a Pokemon know Rock Smash and waste a move slot, but it definitely gave a better sense of "connection" with my own Pokemon and party. Now giving me a little remote and saying "push this to summon a Tauros to ride" takes that feeling away, and replaces it with a really ugly, bulky, unnecessary saddle.
ORAS did it better by having you catch that Lati@s before you summoned it.
What's the point of trade-only evolutions?

This plush is life size, and it's equivalent of 800 USD. Bandai has already made a post they are flooded with orders, so it will likely be sold out.

To make children trade with their friends is something I remember one of the designers saying.
Aw shit, they're here everyone.

Would you?
nu-punch has butchered the OP. you can no longer put tiny images next to sentences. I am displeased
Hey! Nice to see some of you survived the move. Just coming in here to sub.
Did anybody get this month's legendaries yet? I know the question sounds dumb, but I ask because I haven't gotten a newsletter mentioning them yet; somebody told me that the codes for them would come from the newsletter.
So, my store has a massive dusty pile of unsold Ultra Sun/Moon in our cabinet due to nearly no demand for them. I've been out of the scene since they came out so I'll ask now, what's the consensus on it? Are they just not worth playing?
Better than Sun/Moon imo. Third versions or sequels in the same generation have never fared well sales-wise.
If you already played sun/moon then there's no point really. From what I've seen it's barely different, other than the rainbow rocket stuff.

Just remember everyone, we have a Pokemon left to go before Windeon/Breezeon or whatever the fuck people are calling it.
the official japanese name is Hurricane Death Megatreon 300
We've extraofficially known about Zeraora since November tho. However, after its reveal, expect gen VIII stuff to start bubbling up.
US/UM has all the Mega Stones that were missing in S/M, Ultra Warp Ride lets you get all the legendaries (except for some depending on version), Mina actually has a trial, Festival Plaza gives out way more coins, O-Powers are in it despite being randomized, Mantine Surfing allows you to get BP without grinding a shitton, the Battle Tree allows you to use Legendaries, Chanseys/Blisseys can be grinded for EXP, the one-a-day limit on the Battle Buffet is removed, and there is a postgame.
There are a lot of improvements in US/UM that make it worth playing.
I want this to be something for a new gen, but i'm pretty sure they're just gonna reveal Zeraora first.
It's pretty obviously going to be Zeraora.

Those fuckin legs
woohoo can't wait to recognize a few tekken moves from this fella
One week to go till Detective Pikachu. Been missing a good detective game since LA Noire.
hey nerds, it seems I hold the reigns to the old FP 'official' pokemon discord (did I make it? Did someone hand it off???). It's a relic of the super early adoption days of discord and it's all but unused right now.
I'm not sure if there's a different official FP disc by now, but if someone wants to take up the reigns and revitalize the bugger, lemme know and we can sort it out again
