Oh for fuck's sake, most people who played the console games disliked Go's capture because you didn't battle the wild Pokemon.
Seriously, Go has plenty of players because it is a free app for smartphones, which most people have. Not for having superior mechanics than the main series.
And fuck Kanto.

Honestly if they can make Kanto feel fresh and explorable with a new story and new areas rather than just remaking Gen 1 with new graphics, I can abide that.
But holy shit, "catching works like it does in Pokemon Go" makes me want to vomit in sheer horror.
Trying to appeal to core fans with mechanics only the most casual fans will be comfortable with, sounds like a terrible mixture.
And that's primarily why I think at least that part is bunk, if not the whole thing. It's not just a bad idea, but a terrible business decision.
They wouldn't dumb down the mechanics like that. They'd be alienating over half their playerbase.
Devil's Advocate here, but what if they don't mean the capturing part of it, but rather encountering?
Since pokemon following you on the overworld (allegedly) makes a return; what if you can actually see the wild pokemon on the route, and walk up to them to start combat?
I'm thinking it might be sort of like how Earthbound has visible enemies on the overworld, for lack of a better comparison.
Admittedly this is wishful thinking about a (still possibly fake) leak, but I'm just trying not to jump to the worst possible conclusion from limited info.

Because a mainline game that utilises mechanics from the barebones Pokemon GO sounds terrible.
What if the pokemon go elements are only for capturing? So there'd still be regular battles but now you gotta manually throw a pokeball, and maybe tall grass is replaced with pokemon you can see in the overworld?
Pokemon Go integration sounds like bullshit to me, especially since it wasn't developed by Game Freak.
I remember hearing about it back when SunMoon were first data mined, but wasn't there an icon in the game's files that represented Pokemon Go, and would have been assigned to a Pokemon transferred from Go?
If the leak is real, than it is probably a one-way transfer, the catching mechanic will probably utilize the shrinking circle and curving the ball to increase the chance of catching(With obvious battling the Mon still prevalent).
I think its just GF using some ideas from Go.
As for the new accessory, maybe it's like the Pokewalker. I miss that thing.
