There is an unused mystery gift message in Gen VII that thanks the player for playing Go and to pick up a gift from the delivery guy in the Poke Centers. I imagine it will be a one way transfer, yeah.
I'm not taking the 4chan leak seriously until we get an official reveal, since a GO integration can be a lot of things as said above. I am hoping we get a new eeveelution out of this, but that may be expecting too much.
The real question is why anybody would take 4Chan seriously. It's just some dude trying to be the Next Hit Memer™ and looking like a tool in the process.
I wouldn't put it past Gamefreak to remake Kanto again. Especially after the close ties it has with Alola and its status as nostalgia bait. And a reason for a Lillie cameo. Ugh.
Also I fear for the game(s) potential scale and visual appeal. Gamefreak has already been shown to bite off more than they could chew given Gen 6 - 7's performance issues, so now I worry that they'll bite off too little.
Well games usually take a while to plan and develop

Some old designs from the 40 that didn't make the cut.
for DS, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum may be a better starting place
or even HeartGold/SoulSilver
Black/White Black2/White2 are good, but I personally feel it's best to have played at least one other pokemon game before playing it.
Honestly I'd say either Black and White or Sun and Moon.
Gen 5 is a personal favorite of the pixel-era, but Gen 7 is super forgiving to newer players and has a lot of story elements to it.
I honestly wouldn't mind a brand fancy new Kanto game but the Go integration sounds like bullshit to me
I wouldn't be shocked if they had something to where you could transfer your guys from GO to this new game, but anything more sounds like BS.
the best gen is the indeed a fine place to start
uh no if you start with gen 5 you won't be able to appreciate its uniqueness that makes all other gens look inferior
I love Cobalion, Proto-Sharpedo and suddendly Nightmare Fuel Duck
And how Spearow is just scratched out like"DELET THIS, FUCK THIS UGLY BIRD", imagine instead of it we got nightmare duck
The bug eyed thing above Venonat I believe says "Kurokki" a combination of the words for crocodile and tree. And the deer is "Dair"
I finally picked up HeartGold again.
I had it years ago and beat the 4 champions, then I got to Misty and stopped playing, then got rid of the game.
I have had the urge to replay it and beat it fully, so I finally picked it up.
Gonna try Nuzlocke on Pokemon X and then HeartGold.
Bad performance on 3DS comes from downscaling everything as 3D models were future proofed and developed for better hardware than the 3DSW.
That's why they didn't have to recreate the 3D models and animations of trainers and pokemon for Pokemon Switch. Which is also why X and Y took such a long time to develop.
And you're defending that?
XY, ORAS, SM, and USUM all have to run like shit just because they wanted to do less work when the Switch game rolls around? Eugh. That makes me worry even more for the quality of the Switch games. They at least better completely revamp the quality of the models themselves. If the models go mostly untouched in detail, polish, and animations that's gonna be hella disappointing.
I'm not defending it. And they don't run like shit. They reach 30 FPS most of the time. And if you want an example of how good the 3D models can look, just look at Pokemon GO. And that's just adjusting the models for a smartphone game.
While it is Game Freak's fault for deciding to make hundreds of new Pokemon, you really can't fault them to not wanting to create new 3D models every time a new game comes out. It also speeds up development a lot. It required them 3 1/2 years for X and Y to come out due to recreating everything from scratch. Imagine these development times every time they made a new game. We wouldn't see a Pokemon Switch game until 2020/2021. And you should lower your expectations of the Switch game as one of the devs already stated that expecting something like BOTW-styled Pokemon game in world design, etc. is too much.
But it also means that they can speed up development of the Switch title, by using the models. And they can look good, as shown with Pokemon GO. They can concentrate on other things additionally (like gameplay mechanics) and only need to tweak models and animations to make them fit. It's a good choice in the end that they made back then.
The 3D models are nice, but I do miss the animated sprites from gen 5. They had a lot of personality I feel the new models don't have. Take Krokorok for example. His 5th gen sprite had sass whereas he just kind of stands there with his new model.
My least favourite thing about the 3D models is the perpetual floating that a lot of the flying pokemon have, especially ones like Tropius where they've always previously been shown on the ground and look a little goofy in flight.
Serebii listed a second page from that manga.

That's not the model's fault. That's just an animation (and an idiotic decision making them the default idle ones).
the worst thing the animators ever did was make purrloin stand
I wish all these documents were freely available, reading about beta Pokemon stuff is super fascinating and I would kill to have a huge-ass book similar to Hyrule Historia but with pokemon development stuff.
Welp, a Kanto game would be acceptable, IMO, if Johto was the postgame. Missed opportunity in FRLG to have a GSC prequel adventure, so here is hoping we get something other than Saffron and outskirts.
A lot of models have the same idle animation. I like the 3D models too but the idling looks a bit... empty.

Nothing wrong with that, but it is a shame since there could be at least a secondary animation to break the loop like gen5 sprites did. It added more variety to the sprite work.

And regarding the personality lacking for some 3D models...

What I loved about Gen 5 was when the Gym leader or rival was on their last Pokemon.
id always get goosebumps
Meh, getting the music outright replaced by generic themes wasn't really my cup of tea. Specially when those games introduced variable themes for the overworld; having variable versions of the same music for battles would have worked better...
Idk man

This was pretty dope in important battles
I like the idea behind the music changing when your opponent's down to their last Pokemon, I just feel like the song they used was a terrible choice. It's just so generic and triumphant and saps all the tension from the fight. Something like the Pinch themes from the Sonic series where the whole thing turns into an intense high-tempo mess would've worked way better IMO. Heck, they did it right in the same game with the low HP theme.
