Wait...you need to have a certain type advantage before even being allowed to challenge a Gym Leader? What?!
miss me with this casualized shit

I'm glad this isn't gen8. This looks like a stroll through Kanto with the game holding your hand.
safari zone has been cut
I hope they won't charge us 60 for this..
Nah, it's been turned into Kanto. And these are games for casual players. Not sure about how that may work, but oh well.
I'm praying that this is the containment game. Game Freak has committed to making things easier for newcomers (which I can understand) and longtime fans have been complaining that things are too hand-holdy for a while now. Hopefully Let's Go becomes a sub-series; this is the Pokemon game you get for your toddler who has never played Pokemon before. There's very little strategy, your rival isn't a meanie, you need a type advantage before you can even ATTEMPT a Gym Battle, etc. Meanwhile, the core RPG titles can grow alongside the audience that's been supporting them the past two decades, ditching the elements that made parts of the last few games feel so goddamn tedious. I hope this is Game Freak's plan, long-term. But I also wouldn't be shocked if they didn't take this golden opportunity to actually please everyone.
When was the last time that was true in the main series?
I meant moreso how in these new games (which are remakes of Yellow), they took the OG punk-ass piece of shit Rival and turned him into a guy who's "helpful, and a bit timid". I feel like B/W/B2/W2 were the last games to have a Rival who was actually a RIVAL and not just a bland friend (unless you count Gladion). But Blue would outright call the player a loser, which is too stressful for the target audience they're courting with Let's GO. Same reason they made Resetti an optional feature in Animal Crossing.
you know what would be cool a rival whose pokemon level scales with yours so they are never a pushover but of course game freak would never do that the player should never fail that's too stressful for the kids instead they shift the true rival role to the villian group second-in-command character.
I might be the only one who wants Gen8 to abandon the top down stuff and go full true 3D RPG.
Antagonist groups, rival and group leaders lacks complexity rather than difficulty. I always expected for a plus that makes them distinctive over everything else, not just a higher number next to their teams. it doesn't feel you are facing THE guy that has enough power to be at one step from influencing the world, cause a flood of biblical proportions or rewrite the whole Universe. This may sound a little cliché for someone and wouldn't fit for every situation, but I want to see a more pressuring retaliation from that villainous leader at the verge of defeat and impose a battle altering rule like a "screw it all" reaction or an unique terrain condition.
Apparently 360 ° views/camera controls already worked in Sun/Moon but is locked.
If I had a switch I'm get Let's Go. I don't made how casual it is, it still looks like a fun little time waster.
I hope that Pokeball thing get's brought over to the actual Pokemon game, because that's the only interesting feature I think I like, I love me little gadgets like that. It's the same with the Pokewalker, I wish I could use it with other generations.
Just more proof for the 3DS being a test bed. That and all the futureproofed high-poly models.
I like it, its a good way for Nintendo to introduce new players to Pokemon games using simple mechanics with Pokemon Yellow as scaffolding. It will be a game that I would skip just because I personally feel like I am not the target demographic, but I would recommend it to Switch owners with younger kids in their home for sure. I know my nephew would love to play Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee. That being said I would love to see some changes to the mainline games because of these games, Pokemon being visible in grass is super nice. I wonder how shiny Pokemon will be treated with that feature.
I like overworld wild Pokemon appearing in grass. I don't like overworld wild Pokemon appearing outside of grass.
garry's changing more shit again. RIP
