So I got up to 4.75% and then hit a session with no blue orbs. I pulled Ares. -HP/+RES. So not only did I get a superbane which drops his HP into 'garbage' territory, I also got the worst fucking boon. Candidates for Brazen ATK/DEF?

So question about new heroes. Do they end up in the summoning pool or can I only summon Ishtar during this one banner?

They stay in the summoning pool. One of them's getting moved down to 4-star, my bet is on Ares.

Thinking about Ares, and also the free Takumi: now that they've fixed the most glaring issue (enemy phase music), I wonder if they're ever going to get around to fixing Defiant skills and Retribution specials. Defiant is explicitly a worse version of Brazen. You could argue Defiant skills count double for blade tome users, but that only brings them up to Brazen for those very specific users. And even then, it's still worse than Brazen because of the health requirement difference. If there's a worry about Defiant Attack adding 14 attack for blade tomes, just make that one operate differently. And the Retribution specials only match the Glowing Ember and Chilling Wind specials on a few units with high hp, and only when they're at less than 10 health. And they already come at the cost of having low health.

Yes but it's not too common, some examples are Fallen heroes and Farfetched Heroes banners. I'm just saying don't expect there to always be a 4*. And in this banner I really think it would be Lene who gets demoted, because Ares is way too powerful. Lene is very similar to Olivia (even has less BST than her). But again both of her passives are very exclusive, which makes me doubt the possibility a demotion.

Somehow I managed to get Ares as my free summon. He's +atk/-spd but I'll take it.

100 orbies and I got a +atk -def Ares and a 4* Rein +atk - speed. I'm more happy about the rein than the Ares lol. For Ares I'm thinking of trying some AoE special shenanigans and see how that works.

Yeah, a lot of people noticed that too. Seems like they're juwsut trying to hint at her being Loki. Don't see how she would have escaped Surtr's forces anyways, unless she has some kind of broken magic.

Sniped blue for about 80 orbs. Got two Ishtar's (-HP, +DEF and -HP +ATK) and a Hardin (neutral) pitybreaker. I'll probably merge the +DEF Ishtar into the +ATK one but I'm not sure if I should merge Hardin (got a -SPD, +DEF one from his banner) or use him as bold fighter fodder for M!Grima or Black Knight.

consider if it's worth merging her though, she has 2 very exclusive skills.

9 orbs into my next attempt at Ishtar and I get an off banner 5 star with perfect IVs! Just a shame it's fucking Faye.

If you have a spare Setsuna, Faye makes for an amazing Guard Bow user. Otherwise enjoy your rare Firesweep Bow.

I DO have 20k feathers laying around but I'd rather spend them on an extra Soleil/Felicia/Kagero merge. Okay, I don't have any of them laying around but still.

firesweep is such a good bow, give it to blyn or bridelia. or any other good archer. faye is ok but not good enough to hog a fsweep bow for herself

The personal tome gives him Bracing Stance 3 for use against non-dragonslayers, at least.

tanky mages aren't fun to use though give me speedy mages please, or more burger kings. i don't think i've actually 5* a single GHB unit besides Camus or Xander

You kidding? I 5-starred Ursula and Valter. Keen Blárwolf+ with Dull Cavalry helps against Brave Lyn and Chrom.

At least Arvis had a strong niche and fun build. Mine hits 41 res with Fury and Fortress Res at+2, has 3 ploys and heals. No GHB has been comparable to the likes of Camus/Xander/Michalis/Zephiel in a while but after Arvis they all became skill fodder. Lyon, Oliver, Angry Taco, Kana, etc....

By the way, I got a little upset that Kana was included. Let's face it; these children have no role in the base game of Fates (including Revelation), but you probably know that already.
