After clearing the ninth chapter of the expansion I've entered into the grinding part of the expansion and must now unlock people for my Alliance, which pretty much sounds like Dragon Age: Inquisition, only in space One thing I can say for certain as of now: those classical conversations really stick out like a sore thumb and I'd really like for the developers to be honest and say they came up with them to save money on dubbing [editline]Today[/editline] This is arguably the only dark side option I've ever taken with my Sith assassin main the very moment I laid my eyes on it
I have like 200 dark points total, and they're all from force choking people that REALLY deserved it. cough quinn cough Is 6x XP enough to be able to skip planetary quests and just do story missions?

Yeah, do all the missions marked with purple icons.
Yeah, as others have said, you can't level purely by the class quests, but you have to do the planet story arcs, too. Or just do the heroics on the previous planet with your OP companion to fill the XP gap. Either way you do far less space bar mashing fetch side quests that interrupt the flow of the story and stick to two quests at any one time tops. Unless you choose to do more
Say, some guy on Fredon Nadd told me that as of now both the seeds of rage and the Shroud questlines had their final step turned down in a normal quest instead of a heroic Is that true? I'd like to complete both, given I'm a fan of Darth Mortis and Darth Acina [sp]is now the fucking Empress of the Sith[/sp]

You needed at least 2 players to keep interrupting the monster boss' healing move or the fight would never end.

Managing your Alliance is arguably the grinding part of the expansion, which is kinda justified since people have to wait months for the final chapters of Kotfe story While each opened supply always grants you an interesting piece of gear you can handle to any other character you have and a gift that will increase your companion influence a great deal, you are basically rearsing things you may have done in the past (like heroics, world bosses or the same Star Fortress) over and over again while you visit old planets you've grown a bit tired off Recruiting some former companions in your alliance is also REALLY TIRESOME. To name two cases, getting [sp]Lieutenant Pierce[/sp] requires you to win TWENTY WARZONES (victories are worth double, but it's little comfort), while [sp]Qyzen Fess[/sp] asks you to kill several world bosses on different planets All that considered, I think I'll play the game for a bit more, see what I'm willing to unlock and then drop my subscription till the new story chapters will be released I'm also interest in seeing how the levelling process changed, but I guess I can do that safely as a preferred player
If the companion is from the class you're currently playing as you don't need to do the silly side quest which is an upside.
If the companion is from the class you're currently playing as you don't need to do the silly side quest which is an upside.
Unfortunately, I'm a Sith inquisitor And even then, I did the whole quest for [sp]Talos Drellik[/sp] on Yavin IV, because it was kinda reasonable and I'm funny that way
[sp]I hope my inquisitor gets the chance to go back to DK, kill her, and take that spot.[/sp]
You can tell Valkorian that, and he's like "dude look at this shit, we're beyond all that"
while [sp]Qyzen Fess[/sp] asks you to kill several world bosses on different planets
This can be done in less than an hour on Hoth if you know the spots where you can find the enemies to kill. That being said I completed almost everything KOTFE offers for now. Got all companions, destroyed all Star Fortresses and got my alliance ranks above ten, I was hoping for a visual change that makes the area look like I actually did something but oh well.
Been playing a Smuggler for a while, but holy fuck, Bounty Hunter is WAY more fun than the stand still and cast shit. Re-rolling seems painful with all the shit I unlocked..
"stand still and cast shit" what class are you right now? And it depends on your class and spec, both PT and Merc have "stand still and cast shit" modes
"stand still and cast shit" what class are you right now? Bounty Hunter seems a lot more free-form, being able to move around a lot more.

I'm currently using a bare-fisted [sp]SCORPIO[/sp] as my Outlander trusty bodyguard (assuming you can remove a weapon from a companion and don't hinder his/her/its abilities)
Basically I loved the KOTORs, I paid attention to the development of the game at the very, very beginning and then when I saw stuff like this I lost all interest [t]https://uselesswarrior.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/star-wars-the-old-republic-screenshot-jedi-force-choke.jpg[/t] I basically have no desire to get sucked into an MMO (as in care about metagame or leveling like runescape or something), and nor do I have the time as an engineering student, but the story and lore is pretty much one of my favorite things in the Star Wars EU, and I feel like I'm missing out on a lot by not experiencing it, and reading can only do so much. Don't care much for clans or groups or anything as well at this point Is it worth getting into this game? And how can I get into it the way to best experience what the story/stories have to offer?
Each class has a unique story and some are better than others. Personally I liked Sith Inquisitor, Imperial Agent, and Jedi Knight the best. You can level to max by doing your class's story, the main story from each planet, and the expansion stories alone, no need to do sidequests and group content. So if you want you can play solo and still get all the main story beats. Also that screenshot's suuuuper old, one of the first the be shown for the game. The proportions and such (especially the goofy lightsaber handles) are a lot more sensible looking now. It's still stylized, but not in such an awkward way as that. The main downside is that playing F2P really sucks. I'd recommend subbing if you can.

About how many hours of gameplay can I expect?
So suggest subbing for a month or something and knocking it out? About how many hours of gameplay can I expect?
I don't really know on average. I may not be the best person to answer that, I'm a pretty slow player v:v:v
Is there recommended story stuff I should try to read/watch/experience that helps set things up, or is it more of a "just jump into it" kinda thing
Is there recommended story stuff I should try to read/watch/experience that helps set things up, or is it more of a "just jump into it" kinda thing
Basically, the Sith Empire reformed under the Emperor return after being defeated in the Great Hyperspace War. They invade the republic with a number of surprise attacks led by Darth Malgus for 28 years, leading to the point where the Sith Empire sacks the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Afterwards, the Republic and Empire form a loose treaty to keep the war at bay. The game pretty much starts a few years later when tensions are coming to a boil.
here's a referral link that'll basically give you 7 days of free play time with all the subscriber shit unlocked, that should help you out a bit
And how can I get into it the way to best experience what the story/stories have to offer?
Just look at my screenshot at the top of the last page. That's where the new content for SWTOR is at in terms of visuals. And even the content from launch is better looking than your screenshot. Your screenshot is from Alpha. Even the first lightsaber you get, which is goofy looking, isn't anything like that Agent is agreed to be the best story in the game, and you can play through the game like KotOR now, rather than do chores for every god damn NPC you see. Main story for your class, and doing each planet's own story arc (Which are short) And that'll level you to where you need to be. Even if you over level stuff, your level will be brought down to the area you're in, and you'll still get rewarded XP wise as if it was your actual level. Even the quest XP rewards, no matter how trivial and easy, scale to your actual level. Side quests were just about mandatory to level. Now they're completely optional, and even disabled by default for the most part. You'll have to click to display the quest markers on your map screen If you're worried about not putting enough time into it, no big deal. Every time you load into the game you get a brief recap of what you've done/you're doing as the game loads. Just play at your pace, no rush. As for the goofy graphics..
Is there recommended story stuff I should try to read/watch/experience that helps set things up, or is it more of a "just jump into it" kinda thing
This video explains everything you need to know going into TOR (it's a long video, but interesting if you like Star Wars lore)
Personally, the post-Knights of the Fallen Empire era of SW: TOR may be the best way to "just try out" the game, given the developers realized that people don't care much about MMORPG content and their main focus is to waltz through the class stories (as well as the game's main storyline through the various planets) as quickly as possible and with the least amount of help from other players The result is that now you get an obscene amount of experience by doing class story and planetary/main storyline quests alone while you unlock companions conversations automatically as your story goes on, making most MMORPG features like crafting or ops/flashpoints (raids and dungeons respectively) largely skippable That said, I haven't tested yet if preferred and F2P players can level up at a nice pace by doing the purple (main) quests alone or if they are forced to do exploration (side) quests too in order to keep up. Can anyone give me some infos on this?

It seems to be almost as fast. It's reported that you can get 1-50 as a F2P by just doing Story/Planet arcs, also. So I don't actually know if the XP is reduced or not anymore, but it isn't an issue either way
Huh yeah, all this stuff looks good I'll do it probably after the semester finishes
