Well decided to try Grid Autosport and racing online. Only done once with the Lancia Delta Cup.
I'm glad i found at least 2 clean drivers because you'll always find the dirty one that wants to constantly ram on someone.

Did a race in GT Sport last night, moved up from 12th to 6th, cleanly. On the third-to-last corner, some cockhead behind me tried to use me as a buffer, breaking late, cutting the corner and pushing me almost off of the track. I returned the favour on the last corner, taking us both off track. Although someone else overtook both of us, I finished 7th while the cockhead finished in 9th, as someone else overtook him too.
I hope they learnt their lesson. That if they had just raced clean and not be a fuckwit, they would have finished in 7th. But no, because of their dumb stunt, they finished in 9th.

The bastards sent it without any bubble wrap or any other kind of cushioning in the parcel, so it was probably shaking around like fucking mad while in transit. I've already put in a refund/replacement request because this is just inexcusable.
They've agreed to a refund/replacement. And they've refunded the shipping expense as well. Noice

Amazing EA, truly amazing. Yes this is real, he was just added in with this new update, yes it is him.

On the other hand, this will make a great collector's edition for BeamNG
The penalty system in GT Sport is such bullshit.
Someone behind you brakes late into the corner, goes onto the inside of the corner even though you're already riding the rumble strip, and shunts you off track? YOU get penalised.
Someone infront of you brakes well before the braking point of the corner, so you can't help but run up the back of them? YOU get penalised.
You accidentally go off track and lose a few positions? Oh don't worry, you'll get a 6 second time penalty added on top of that!

ea's influencers dicksucking went too far, literally giving the whole marketing to some shitty youtubers(except MCM) was the worst decision.

People wouldn't mind if it was actually car focused YT'ers like MCM, but they've thrown in literal trash that has nothing to do with anything other than the fact their personalities/personas match in with the douchebag squad of that "crew".
Its kinda pathetically hilarious, specially when you consider they paid these morons to use their names.

F1 2017 is 60% off on PS4. I'm downloading the demo now. But has anyone played the game yet? Worth it?

It was one of the first things I played on the PS4 after I got it. I was really surprised by how far they go with the racing career mode. From what I saw of the demo, they do an amazing job of exposing you to the stuff that happens outside of the race itself. In theory, it would have you forming long term strategies for how you're going to drive throughout the whole season. It looked like the most comprehensive singleplayer for a racing game I've ever seen. I don't have the full version though, so I can't say if it lives up to that, but I was very impressed by the demo.
Online Drift Runs in NFS Payback are... exactly as expected, actually.

People still can't drive, it's great.
Now maybe in the future they'll give us a reason to actually have the Drag and Runner cars (and now, of course, the Speedcross cars). Not sure what they'd set Runners up to do online but Online Drag would be some fun ass jank.
The music in GT Sport's new career mode is a cover of the menu music from Gran Turismo 2's arcade mode 👌👌👌

The new GT Sport update went live recently. It has the traditional GT career mode called GT Leagues (Beginnner, Amateur, Professional and Endurance events - didn't see rally though). There aren't awfully many events though, but the limited track selection probably doesn't help. It also has new cars like the F40, R32 and R34 GT-R, RX-7 Spirit R etc. and it's on sale for 40% off on the PS Store.
I might get it, it's a tempting sale

The biggest limitations at the moment are track variety, and online event variety. They are gradually adding in more tracks, but it probably won't be for another year until there's a semi-decent number of tracks. As for online events, I haven't seen a single online event use Gr.1 or Gr.B cars, or any Gr.N cars of performance greater than N300.

Early thoughts on the new career mode in GT Sport:
1) The car restrictions are just... bizarre. Eg the FF series in the Beginner League allows for any FWD car with up to 345hp, and has no restriction on minimum weight. Why is the maximum power allowed so bloody high? Forget driving a 145hp MiTo; you're gonna have to go straight for a tuned Civic Type R or Focus ST.
2) AI are dumb as dogshit. A great test of this in any racing game is to see if the AI will ride the brakes mid corner, and GT Sport most definitely fails this test.
3) There really was so much missed potential for events in the career mode. Eg in the Professional League there are literally only two categories - Midship Challenge and Premium Sports Lounge (the latter for any car over a certain Cr value). Considering that it's the 'Professional League' shouldn't there be, you know.. categories for Gr.4 cars, Gr.3 cars, and Gr.1 cars? Also, way to go in excluding the majority of Gr.X cars (mostly Vision Gran Turismo cars - which are already restricted from most gameplay) from being used in this career mode. They could have had a Dream Car Championship, or Like The Wind, for those Gr.X cars; the latter would be especially fun for the Tomahawk X or Chaparral 2X. But do they have those events? Nope.
4) No events for Gr.B cars, despite the game having a huge roster of them, as well as rally tracks. Why.

Career modes were never good in any Gran Turismo game. I don't know why people were begging for it in this.

Most people were begging for a better career mode, not just to simply keep it.

The one thing GT Sport needs is more tracks. A proper career mode would be worthless if there are only the same 10 tracks to play on. This was one of the bigger problems with GT3's career mode (except GT3 actually had more tracks than GT Sport).

Drifting in NFS games always looks so terrible. It was especially awful in NFS 2015. It's ironic, but I always found drifting to be much easier and more-rewarding in simcade games. Eg I'm used to taking advantage of body roll like lift-off oversteer in controlling drifts, but games like NFS don't simulate those things really well and so it's just heaps awkward.
Save 20 bucks on each version of Forza 7... Gee, thanks Microsoft.
Any cheap racing game that is worth getting on this sales? And if possible some that aren't so big, like 40 gb of download :v:
This week, on 'bullshit penalties in GT Sport'

Look at how much room I gave them on the inside of the corner, only for them to brake late and intersect me on the outside of the corner. But guess who got the penalty?

I unironically still have enough extra clips to make a fourth of these right now, but I'm gonna keep playing and seeing what kind of nutty shit people pull off instead because I'm sure there's something yet to hit me that will truly be grand...
Will never understand games that require you to be 24\7 online and have your progress tied to it.
I also can't refund GT Sport because i had to download way before the issue and that takes almost 8 hours for me. Great.

NFS Hot Pursuit, NFS Shift and Shift 2 (i don't know if they're actually on steam or if they launch through Origin), GRID series (first one is generally seen as the best one, 2 is more arcadey than the first one and autorsport tries a more sim-arcade approach), Absolute Drift, Flatout series, Split/Second (more of an action game rather than racing, a forgotten gem imo). That's about all I can think of.

Also BTW has anyone here play Mashed? It's my childhood game and it still holds up today if you want a fun local 4 player game to play with your mates.

Looks like they gave you the "Multiplayer Lobby Turn 1" Edition on accident
GT Sport firsts online matches:
First was mostly a test which was 12 SWIFT cars running in the beginner track, barely any action but alright.
Last was stupid which had everyone but the lead being dirty.
I finished 11th but i didn't lose SR, majority with their grade marked red, wow.
Blasting around in the ChampCar mod, heck of a lot of fun.

I ran into a S\S driver in the middle of D\S. Thanks GT Sport.
Also wow i hate how ghost works. I got turned into ghost during a turn allowing the one right behind me to pass then losing a place. I haven't done anything wrong\dirty to the race and i got punished for that.
I decided to get FH3 because I wanted a game to relax to, like I used to do with Burnout Paradise. It's filling that niche pretty well. Of course, I haven't had any performance issues outside of the Surfer's Paradise area, where I occasionally get dips to about 55 FPS (My computer is a little excessive). The core game is just fun to futz about in and the landscape is nice, though I do get the complaints about a lack of proper car culture being represented. Like sure, you get Utes and such, but that doesn't mean much when it's pretty much just the Horizon crew being HERE TAKE THIS AUSTRALIAN CAR, IT'S AUSTRALIAN. CRAZY HUH

yeah, the setting in FH3 sounds good on paper but it just doesn't work for that reason. let's just hope they do a better job with japan (i'm hoping it's japan)
