yeah, the setting in FH3 sounds good on paper but it just doesn't work for that reason. let's just hope they do a better job with japan (i'm hoping it's japan)
I mean, the setting is pretty and fun to drive around in, but there isn't like, any form of feeling to it. whatevs, for $30 I'm having a good time (also the hot wheels expansion still weirds me out)
I decided to get FH3 because I wanted a game to relax to, like I used to do with Burnout Paradise. It's filling that niche pretty well. Of course, I haven't had any performance issues outside of the Surfer's Paradise area, where I occasionally get dips to about 55 FPS (My computer is a little excessive). The core game is just fun to futz about in and the landscape is nice, though I do get the complaints about a lack of proper car culture being represented. Like sure, you get Utes and such, but that doesn't mean much when it's pretty much just the Horizon crew being HERE TAKE THIS AUSTRALIAN CAR, IT'S AUSTRALIAN. CRAZY HUH
I have a Ryzen 7 CPU and a GTX1080 with 16GB of 3200mhz DDR4, with the game and its expansions installed on an SSD.
The game chugs in the dense city areas, sometimes under 30FPS. And I have occasional stutter and slowdowns in general. Usually a slick 60FPS though.
The Blizzard Mountain expansion is fun, but I would complete the SP in the base game first. It's a fantasy area, but winter racing is always rad. I was turned off by Hotwheels too, but I bought it and it's been fun. Don't care for the hotwheels cars though.

It's installed on a 3TB Seagate HDD for me and it seems fine. Weird. Also, I like the Hot Wheels expansion because I am also a huge Trackmania nerd and it has some resemblances.

I played the shit out of TMN and TM2, I race S1/S2 pretty much exclusively in FH3:HW because of it. I prefer D-A in the regular game.

Yeah, I'm mostly a B-A class person, though the occasional rip around in the HE Challenger SRT at S2 spec is pretty fun.
I ran into a S\S driver in the middle of D\S. Thanks GT Sport.
Also wow i hate how ghost works. I got turned into ghost during a turn allowing the one right behind me to pass then losing a place. I haven't done anything wrong\dirty to the race and i got punished for that.
In an online race I went off track - to my own detriment as the mistake cost me several seconds, but the game still felt like punishing me by adding a 2.5 second time penalty on top of that.

I understand the argument of 'well most players are American and they need cars that they are familiar with', but that argument makes it sound like Americans have no sense of adventure at all. If their aim was to include Australian car culture, they failed miserably.
In the blue corner, one of the most popular cars made by Ford until they closed shop was the Falcon XR6 Turbo - a family sedan with a 4.0L turbocharged inline 6 at the front, and drive sent to the rear. It is also a common highway patrol car. Instead, the game has the slower American Crown Victoria Interceptor of all things, and the closest thing they had to an XR6 Turbo was the FG X XR8, which is dumb as it is mechanically identical to the FPV GT F. Oh yeah, do I need to mention how the game calls the FPV GT F the 'Ford Falcon GT F', despite the fact that it is neither a Ford nor a Falcon?
In the red corner, I like how despite the game being set in Australia, it has the Chevrolet SS, but not the car that it's based on; the Holden Commodore SS. There are other things too; eg JDM imports are a big thing here, but the Japanese car variety in the game is pretty much only cars you'd see in the Fast & Furious franchise. And one thing in particular that bothers me is that Morgan re-engineered the 3 Wheeler for the Australian market so that it could past ADR regulations, making Australian 3 Wheelers unique, but instead the game just has a US-spec 3 Wheeler.

I think I'm one of the very few racing game players who prefers slower cars. You get to take in the views and just have a relaxing drive, as opposed to constantly spinning out in a 1,000hp car.

See, I'd be fine with it if it weren't for the fact that I am an arcade racer fan at heart, so if the world isn't a blur it isn't fast enough. Not to say I don't appreciate taking it slow to take in the world, but always faster is something I can get behind. Though the lowest speed car in the game is pretty fun to mess around with. Trying to get an Ultimate Drift in it is a good challenge.
Anyone can throw all the parts at a car and bring it up to S1/S2, or build a cheesy all-motor no-chassis/tire/suspension car at the top of A or B that stupid fast in a straight line but can't turn or control a drift.
But driving slow cars fast is where it's at, because you gotta work for it, and work out how best to keep your momentum at any given time.
I often play in class-locked lobbies cause that's where all the people are testing their fine tuned builds and don't wanna get stuck with shitters playing S2 asphalt/playground games 24/7. I also pretty much always vote for mixed surface and cross country because rally is the shit.

I've found the lower tiers to be worse sometimes, because of how low you can get a fast car by downgrading your suspension/tires.
The winner always seems to be someone in a crazy high horsepower AWD car that laps you despite sliding off the track at every turn.
While there might not be much science to making an S2 car, at least its usually fairly even.
I feel weird for enjoying GT Sport so far. I was shitting on it the whole time and asking 'why make this game and throw away everything behind once again', yet understood that it's just mostly focused on online racing, which isn't so different from other quick races that other games provide.
But I like GT Sport just for how straightforward it is, I'd say it's iRacing for consoles - with plenty of people online, safety rating stuff, races being balanced (?) in terms of car selection.
I really wonder how many people may get into more serious simracing later just by starting with GT Sport, despite all flaws it has.
also shoutout to BF for mentioning motion controls long time ago, I didn't try these in demo and thought game is not worth it unless I have wheel, but motion controls are bearable. I'm still gonna try hooking my DFGT to PS4 with GIMX adapter I ordered recently.
Motion sensor steering is outstanding in GT Sport, I probably wouldn't be able to play the game without it.
I'm really getting frustrated at the lack of variety in the online events in GT Sport. The game actually has a semi-decent variety of cars and a few nice tracks, but here's the problem:
There are only ever 3 different events on each day. Today, the daily events are: One-make at Brands Hatch Indy in the R32 GT-R, one-make at Kyoto Driving Park in the Peugeot RCZ, and 10 lap endurance at Nurburgring GP for Gr.3 (GT3) cars.
Only having three unique events each day makes the game really boring, really fast. But not just that. For the one-make events, the cars are generally always the same; Audi must have paid Polyphony a shit load of money, because most one-make races are in the Audi TTS. And the R32 GT-R was already in yesterday's daily events. Also, I have never seen Mount Panorama or Nordschleife in the daily events; it's mostly only ever Dragon Trail, or Kyoto Driving Park. Yawn.
And I've never seen an online event using Gr.1 or Gr.B cars, so that's like 40 cars in the game that you're never going to use online. Also I've never seen an online event for productions cars that wasn't one-make, so it's almost pointless to have a garage in the game. Oh and the game does have the Vision Gran Turismo cars in Gr.X, but they can never race against each other; even in arcade mode, you can only do one-make in Gr.X. Makes you wonder why they even bothered with the whole Vision Gran Turismo thing, if you can't compete against other VGT cars.
[editline]29th December 2017[/editline]
Like the game already has the content to be a good game, but Polyphony doesn't know what the fuck they are doing.
Been playing wreckfset online a bunch. That game's really shaping up and i'm so happy to see it come together.
I'm already tired of the r32 gt-r.
I hope they add more cars each month. It feels weird that Alfa Romeo only has 2 models with 3 variants of 4C. I like them but what about the popular Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 ? It was a beast in gt2.
I have no use of these rally cars either.
Also found my first cheater during the RCZ One Make event. One portoguese from the back managed to get a lap under 44 seconds, killing the enjoyment
Edit: I have to say Circuit Experience is a nice touch
I'm actually enjoying NFS Payback.
The performance tuning thing with the cards is still terrible (also hated it in the Crew) but the world is nice, there's some good idea's and I really, really like the customization.
Here's my fuck-ugly S2000 but hey i have a connection with it now goddamnit

so what's the point of making the game dualshock compatible but only supports the vibration
game is side by side btw
When i'll get more cars in GT Sport i'll be sure to mess more with the photos, for now have this

What's the trick to red corners in Wangan? Tightening yellow to red are easy just pump the has a bit but I usually fuck up if it's just red

Had a pleasant race in GT Sport yesterday. Started in 15th, but finished 10th. I had two lovely battles - with an RC F and a Cayman; took them both, cleanly. The other three overtakes were because I was on a lean fuel strategy which meant I didn't have to pit, whereas those three were on an aggressive strategy and had to stop for fuel.
Skip forward to 13:30 for one of the closest, cleanest finishes for a race that I've ever had. The only contact I had throughout the entire race was very slightly nudging the rear bumper of the Megane in one of the last corners. But as the replay shows, it was insignificant.

Noice but try taking the photo again with some film grain added in. I found that it helps 'blend' the cars into the shot.

I might of asked this is wheel support good in gt sport? When I get a 4k monitor I might get a pro and sport as well
My current monitor only has one input so it'd be a pain in the ass to play on that

No idea, but most people and myself play using tilt to steer with the DS4, and it's surprisingly good.
Finally gold the challenge missions and driver licenses.
It doesn't matter how much i try but i can't stand endurance, just the thought of re doing the whole race in case i do something wrong is irritating. I can take max 15 laps but not more than that.
Well left to do the circuit and GT League

The endurance events used to be a pain in the ass because of extreme rubber-banding AI, but they changed that. They aren't hard now; just tedious.

Yeah, 30 minutes was between tough and tedious.
I decided to do the Gr.3 Daily Race and it went downhill at the firsts laps already.
Someone passed and closed on me, barely making me go out of the track and worse my M6 spinned 4 times before stopping, leading me to 19th\last place :v:
Luckily, all those tedious endurance races sort of helped me out so i managed not pit once ending up 9th place. Better than nothing
Edit: oops it's Gr. 3, again

Also to add on to my mention of motion sensor steering, here is me using it to do an online event around Mount Panorama. Started 11th, finished 6th. Only contact I made was with the RC F at the top of the mountain on lap 1; they slammed on the brakes but it was a corner that you could take with only a bit of lift, or even flat out.
Yeah it's Gr.3 i'm not used with these categories honestly.
There's an easy way to differentiate them: a Gr.4 car is a production car with a rear wing on it, while a Gr.3 car has a widebody and goes faster. The lower the number, the faster it is.
My favourite menu song on GT Sport. The menu interface fades away when your controller is inactive. If the colours seem off, that's because they are: When it records HDR content, it has to approximately convert it to RGB
