I don't think i'll race Bathurst anymore in GT Sport, the amount of punting i did just made me way too sad.
I don't think i'll race Bathurst anymore in GT Sport, the amount of punting i did just made me way too sad.
It's a narrow track, it happens all of the time in real life. Even in the fastest lap ever in a V8 Supercar, McLaughlin actually went off-track but still managed to post the record time.
Anyways I finally got my replacement Project Cars 2. I'd like to say that I've been enjoying it so far, but it's been a bit of a pain. The game has the option of motion sensor steering with the DS4 on the PS4, but the problem is that there are no preset configurations for the motion sensor steering. You have to set it up yourself, without any guide. So I spent literal hours just driving around in quick play, making small adjustments to deadzones here, sensitivities there, etc. And the worst thing is that you have to exit to the main menu and make the changes there, as opposed to pausing during the game to change them (won't let you do that). I finally got it down well. But there's still a 0.1 second input lag between tilting the controller and that movement actually being registered. That might not seem like much, but it makes it virtually impossible to 'catch' the steering when your car starts oversteering. I've had some success with Formula Rookie, but I've spun out many times too. The input lag is inexcusable, especially as Driveclub and GT Sport didn't have any lag at all for motion sensor steering. [editline]13th January 2018[/editline] I mean, it's so bad that I can't even take the first corner of Brands Hatch in a Renault Clio Cup (doesn't help that the anti-roll bars aren't adjustable in that car).

My GIMX adapter has arrived and I'm here to say that it works good so far to allow me play GT Sport with Driving Force GT. It doesn't seem much different from when I played GT5 and GT6. Got pole position on Suzuka with no effort straight away, didn't have much luck later though.
Good game, but man I still prefer the first game.
It was a special kind of moment when as a 10 year old, I booted my brand new PS3 up for the first time to a beautiful orchestral warmup with the moving wave in the background, stuck Motorstorm in, watched the intro with sweeping aerial shots of a wide desert mesa, which transitioned to the title screen as Pendulum's Slam came roaring in through my speakers
Good game, but man I still prefer the first game.
might just be because i started out with it, but i prefer pacific rift over the first game. physics feel a bit better and i like the water/fire system, adds a little bit more strategy to using boost though i will admit the first game has a certain charm to it and i do play it from time to time. tracks seem to be a bit easier to navigate as well due to the lack of foliage muddying up your visibility

The alternate routes for each car class feel properly balanced, the visuals are great, environments are really varied and pretty and the changes to the boost system are great. Then Apocalypse came out and sorta just trashed all of that, made the tracks a visual muddy mess and added about 300 new vehicle classes that don't really do anything differently. The tracks don't really have any alternate paths so classes like the mudplugger and the buggy don't really have any role , and they also added a sort of cartoon shader to the game that was just sorta ugly and drowned out all of the colour. It's a shame Evolution Studios got shut down, Motorstorm was a great series and it deserved a better finale than Apocalypse Edit : Apocalypse did have a remix of the Bullitt theme as it's theme song though, so props to that
Never had the pleasure of really playing the MotorStorm games, but it was a proper shame that Evolution shut down. Driveclub is one of the very few games I've played in recent years which I've already started feeling nostalgic about. Wasn't that great at launch, but after a few updates and all of the additional content, it was something special.

I can now very easily take that first corner at Brands Hatch in the Clio without oversteering off the track. Only problem now is I need to get fully used to the simulation model since I played PCars1 last. I feel sorry for anyone who has it on XB1 because tilt to steer is a godsend for racing games on the PS4.

I yell at myself so much playing Forza it's unbelievable. 1/10 races I seem to misjudge braking and not only that, I have no ABS whatsoever so I panic and smash the brakes, which obv doesn't work and I keep sliding, so I try pumping the brakes but no matter what I do I go just as fast as I was without braking and I can't steer either due to speed. I just end up smashing into the car in front and I just straight up log out, think about what I've done. It always seems intentional to a third person perspective but I've never wanted to avoid a crash more.
Man, i'm having a fun with Dirt Rally, is such a fun game

Everyone used to be like that, but eg I can now race Formula A in PCars 2 without locking up the wheels under heavy braking. Best things you can do to minimise wheel lock up are a) reducing brake pressure for finer control, but don't reduce brake pressure to the point where the wheels can't lock up at all otherwise you won't be getting maximum braking performance, b) adjusting front-rear brake bias where necessary. If front wheels lock up first, then adjust the bias to the rear. If rears lock up first, adjust bias to the front. Be wary of turn-in oversteer/understeer though, respectively. Or c) reduce tyre pressure to increase traction. [editline]24th January 2018[/editline] And just try not to panic if wheels lock up. Consciously choose to get completely off of the brakes for a split second until the wheels start spinning again, then get back on the brakes.
It's more that I just brake way later than I intended to because I lose complete focus and zone out. I come back moments before I'm about to hit someone and I just mash the brakes, but that only worsens the situation because I can't steer away from them.
It's literally fucking impossible to do the Indianapolis 500 in Project Cars 2. I honestly can't remember the last time I have been so fucking stressed out. I can't even do 9 bloody laps. For some fucking reason, despite the top half of the grid going flat out at 360km/h constantly, the back half of the grid waddles along at fucking 280km/h. 41 second laps versus 50 second laps. And even worse, they absolutely refuse to get off of the racing line in order to allow the race leader to lap them. If this were real life, in almost every single racing category, they would be immediately disqualified for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The problem with them not getting off of the racing line is it forces me to do it, where there's absolutely no grip because there's obviously no rubber laid down anywhere off of the racing line. And it completely fucks up the aerodynamics and balance of the car, because the IndyCars are obviously intended for travelling flat out in sixth gear, not fucking moderating the throttle through corners in fourth gear while trying to get around the slow shits. So I can't help but spin out every single fucking time. Oh and here's a hilarious thing. Your spotter will tell you when you're about to lap someone, like no fucking shit. But they won't tell you when there's debris on the track, where a single bit of debris will absolutely fuck up your car, and you don't notice it until the last split second because you're obviously travelling at 360km/h. Point is, it's bloody 2018. Why are racing games still being made with fucking shit AI? I swear that AI intelligence in racing games probably hasn't improved in more than 15 years.
As someone who just completed the nascar series from gran turismo 6, i can conclude car AI sucks Also, I have this now [t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/306803262231937025/405279661610893312/20180123_163425.jpg[/t]
It's like the opposite of my rig. You've got a nice tube steel frame with a racing seat, mine's made of wood with a Civic seat. But I've got a 29" ultrawide that sits right over the wheel housing.
