Speaking of TM2, what the hell happened while I was away? I stopped playing about 2 months after Valley came out, and today I caught this video of TM2:

I go away for a bit and suddenly the game has gotten a fuckton of new features?

Valley came out in 2013. Your "a bit" was almost 4 years. :v:
Lagoon just came out, and they've added a ton of new features to the engine:

It's so weird though. You boot up Canyon or Valley and there's barely a trace of new features apart from the menu being even more user-unfriendly. Did they even add any races with the new blocks?

Also, I meant to say I stopped playing consistently. I still dipped in Canyon every once in a while.

They didn't add any new default tracks, no. Maniaplanet is still fucking stupid and confusing.

Before you used to be able to see some ManiaLink pages by default but now you have to go and google them? And then shove them in the in-game manialink browser? I don't get it. What's Nadeo thinking?

Manialink is fucking stupid anyway. Don't tell them they're doing anything wrong though, you'll get banned.
I love the game but the company clearly has no idea what they're doing. They've already killed the community by splitting the game into 4 fucking games.
Speaking of mania planet, whatever happened to Shootmania?
apparently forza 7 will take up 100 GB of HDD space
i'm already imagining the games i'll have to uninstall to fit it

They still release updates for it and fully support it, even though I'm pretty sure less than 20 people actually play it. Shame too, it's a pretty decent arena FPS.

Well it's not like it's going to be a small game, given the amount of content and the quality of that content. Games weren't going to be 1GB in size forever.

The big meme in game production lately is uncompressed audio. Also textures have gotten yuge since the consoles finally have a respectable amount of VRAM (7th gen had 512MB or less)

Don't forget 4K videos and copies of these videos in lower quality
So... how's Dirt 4 if anybody has played it?
So... how's Dirt 4 if anybody has played it?
I've played it in Simulation mode and people who complain it's not realistic enough are talking horseshit IMO, I was pretty good at Dirt Rally but now it's like learning to drive all over again. It's definitely a chore to stay on the road. Also proper FFB settings change the game so much, there's a steam guide for that, specifically this one: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=943998393
Also the cars seem to be very understeery on the default setup.
Some pros:
The cars are more grippy than in Dirt Rally but I feel like braking properly is more important now, also going off track seems to fuck up your time more than it used to.
I like the new repair system as well, it's a bit more in depth as now you an choose a standard or quick fix for your parts depending on the time you have available to you. Car parts also break more or less easily/often depending on their quality and this can happen mid race too. I had a stage recently where my electronics failed so I had no co-driver calls for some of the stage which was totally unexpected.
The same sort of multiplayer events that were in Dirt are still here but it now also has live multiplayer so you can do stages against people in real time.
Some cons:
I can't speak for 'realism' but RWD cars seem too easy to drive. They were a challenge in Dirt Rally but now you can floor it and not worry about spinning out much.
There is no workshop integration which would have been a great way to share the things you could in Dirt Rally such car setups, FFB settings etc and could also have been used to share generated stages.
The AI times can also be a bit weird - I have comfortably won all of the events in career mode so far on the highest difficulty available to me (and I have driven like shit in many of these), but in one event I was somehow miles off the top time despite driving relatively well. I have seen some other people complaining about the AI putting in times that can be impossible to beat.
Graphically the game is on par with Dirt Rally but seems to be more taxing for some reason.
I also still have some crash/freezing issues but these are a lot less often since the latest patch.
Despite these gripes I am still enjoying it overall, and I am confident that Codies will be fixing some of these issues soon.
Rear wheels in Dirt 4 are too grippy, or at least, every car understeers too much by default. I understand that the base tunes for cars are understeery on purpose, and I've gotten cars to be a lot better balanced, but it's still not as I'd like it to be.

i'm in japan right now and i'm trying out the local version of Maximum Tune, they have more shit here, including these mini stickers, and wangan-maxi.net (even arcade games have microtransactions)

Man the new(old) Wipeout game is awesome. Anyone else have it?
Anyone know a good way to challenge oneself in FlatOut 2? It's gotten incredibly easy for me as of late, to the point of beating Street Finals with an unupgraded Chili Pepper. Just a way to spice it up a bit.
I was half way through this month's monthly event in Dirt 4 and the game crashed while loading a stage and it disqualified me from the event :suicide:
Why does it DNF you for the event even if you were just loading into the stage/service area and hadn't started racing yet?

Play Flatout 1 :v:
Nice little detail about dirt 4, if there's a car broken down by the side sometimes people will wave at you to slow down when you're close enough.

I don't, but I know someone who does. You could also check the Redout discord and see if there's anyone there.

Regretfully. I'm not a big fan of the anti-grav genre, but even then, I find the tracks to be too claustrophobic. I was a much bigger fan of the speeds and tracks in Quantum Redshift.
Also, compared to other games where you have to shift gears, not lose traction, not lock the brakes, and have to take physics into account, Wipeout is just incredibly boring.
Wipeout is just incredibly boring.
Uh, I guess if you do nothing but play on Venom/C class...

play the old ones, they're far more exciting
or you can play zone mode where you can go so fast you break the game

I remember playing zone mode with custom soundtrack, shit's intense and chill inducing
Any Extreme-G fans in here?
Great little series, would love to see its genre make a comeback. It feels a lot more connected than Wipeout but it's so damn fast.
