All I need to do now is finally meet Morko (although I don't want to) and do the "fuck everything" walkthrough.
[sp]Have you explored Turnip Hill?[/sp]
[sp]Have you explored Turnip Hill?[/sp]
Well, it seems that I didn't do that enough. Also please explain that pink Lada on the roof.
Hey so for all the "do all the X in part Y in one playthrough" achievements, will doing New Game -> Start from chapter 8 count as "one playthrough" of Part 3 or do I need to play the whole game from the start? [editline]30th September 2017[/editline] [t]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/909022648278627083/03E34DFC8A158D366401CC715108601B7A157580/[/t] Oh wow I completely missed this the first time around, guess it's not such a happy ending after all

finally got around to buying this, looking forwards to play it once I'm done with my current games.
If I start a new game from a later chapter, what is all the previous completion treated as?
Atleast if you load your latest save (which then restarts the latest map over), your stats are saved.
Don't have any valid saves remaining, decided I'd start anew and get everything right but forgot how obtuse and laborious it is. Just wondering what my supposed ending might be because I'm doing pretty well from where I started.
[sp]Melting down the reactor wasn't nearly as entertaining as I'd hope. I liked Mark's little Finnish vacation home though :v:[/sp]
muffled "I'm pretty sure that's not meant to be like that" in the distance Those big open city areas in Part 3 are gonna be a huge pain to complete tho, I even somehow missed one repairable spot in my first playthrough of it
If I start a new game at the last chapter, will I get the "One man not enough" ending?
So I bought this basically blind and went in without reading anything about the story or watching any gameplay and holy shit, I'm impressed at literally everything in this. The atmosphere, the map design, the soundtrack, the sound design, the humour. The amount of detail put into everything is amazing, it's been said before but the amount of research you did really shows, every map just feels incredibly real Probably going to have to go back and try finding the rest of the easter eggs, up to chapter 7 but I only managed to get [sp]the morko hallway in the water tunnel[/sp], I know I missed one in the [sp]bunker[/sp] and probably something in the [sp]mini-train tunnels[/sp] Is it possible to restart from certain chapters after you've finished?
Probably going to have to go back and try finding the rest of the easter eggs, up to chapter 7 but I only managed to get [sp]the morko hallway in the water tunnel[/sp]
Just so you know, if you did that on your first playthrough you also completely skipped a whole water plant puzzle + the achievement for fixing it, so if you want to take some more photos to get the best ending and stuff you might want to go back :v:
Just so you know, if you did that on your first playthrough you also completely skipped a whole water plant puzzle + the achievement for fixing it, so if you want to take some more photos to get the best ending and stuff you might want to go back :v:
I definitely fixed the first water plant, second one I tried but might have gotten the order slightly wrong since I didn't get the "Fix the plant without interruption" achievement, the only puzzle I've purposely skipped was the one with the massive clusterfuck box of wires you had to re-route to open two flood gates
I definitely fixed the first water plant, second one I tried but might have gotten the order slightly wrong since I didn't get the "Fix the plant without interruption" achievement, the only puzzle I've purposely skipped was the one with the massive clusterfuck box of wires you had to re-route to open two flood gates
Looked at your achievements, the Pitheath plant is the second one, not the first, and the achievement you didn't get is the one for fixing the first plant, since if you go through the B2 easter egg tunnel you literally end up in a level after the plant, you don't even get a chance to try fixing it :v: Now the third plant, that's a challenge I don't blame anyone for messing up on the first try
Huh, I did wonder where that "elevator to surface" went, I assumed it just dumped you in the same tunnel you ended up in
I've just tried to load my save and found that my camera and phone screens are totally black. I can't seem to take any pictures or use the escape menu, anyone know what's up with that? [editline]3[/editline] Loading an older save seems to have fixed it.
Right, so that's done, now when's the sequel? :v: Also idea, have a NG+ mode where you keep the good flashlight, maybe get a better camera and a journal that keeps track of photographable spots and collectibles, cause as fun as the game is, boy did replaying part 3 three times cause I missed a document get tedious
Okay, so what the fuck is up with [sp]a tunnel below the Turnip Hill? Is it related to S.N.W.? Is it their new bunker at the end?[/sp]

Corruption documentation wise I did 82/90, 85/90, and 63/90 on parts 1, 2, and 3 respectively. I didn't get to go into [SP]the underground section of Turnip Hill[/SP], and I think [SP]you need to have at least 90% corruption documented in part 2 to get into the secret SNW control room next to the nuclear reactor. (though I didn't even try to get into it, I was too busy panicking shutting down the glowing reactor the regular way to look for it during that playthrough.) The soundtrack + game bundle on steam appears to cost 1 more cent than buying them both separate.
http://store.steampowered.com/news/externalpost/steam_community_announcements/2140760316587423954 So there's just been an update, decent size. But the interesting bit is that all the game's VMFs are now free to download for everyone, including a lot of cut levels. So don't mind if I do. I won't take pictures because I'm lazy, this is a short report on the cut levels after taking a look in Hammer. artic_test: this tiny level looks like it could have been for a menu. It's just a desk with a PC and several monitors in a weird-looking corridor. c0_m1_prologue: possibly a tutorial level? The player gets out of his car in an alleyway near some train tracks and immediately goes underground. There's a pretty big amount of sewer corridors, most of them were reused in the game (Part 2 I believe). c1_m1_office_OLD: the old version of Mark's office building. It's a smaller building, but it's still pretty big. The map is clearly unfinished, but all the important locations in the building are more or less done. I'm gonna need to finish this map and release it, it's too good an opportunity to pass up. c4_m1_steelfactory: it seems originally, the player took a very long detour before going inside the steel factory/foundry after exiting the sewers. They would go over some train tracks, then walk all around the site on roads, near some apartment blocks and through some abandoned warehouses before heading back inside the factory. The map seems pretty finished in some places, but nowhere near it in some others. c6_m5_parking_cave: what it says on the tin. A large parking lot inside an underground, long tunnel. It doesn't look very detailed, so this must have been scrapped early. Understandable given how uneventful walking that tunnel seems. c7_m4b_bank: this one is pretty impressive. Most of the underground stuff was reused in the main game, but a large part of the map is a decently-sized downtown bank building and offices, with a huge underground server room and a meeting room suspended above it, and also some alleyways outside. The map is pretty much finished, even the corruption documents and infrastructure issues are there. Definitely a very interesting find. c8_m2_industrial: also pretty interesting. Originally, you got out of the sewers, into a city canal, then you climb your way out onto the downtown streets where you're more or less free to explore. Then the player was supposed to go through an old warehouse, and from there into some abandoned tunnels. Visually, the map is complete but all the game restrictions are missing, meaning it's mostly impractical to play. It's also completely unoptimized. c8_m4_isle2_OLD: looks like a portion of the final game map. Apart from a few details, it's mostly the same as the final result, but this one hasn't been finished and is completely unplayable. c8_m8_officeblackout: it looks unfinished, but not any different than in the game. c9_m1_alley: well, well, well, look at that! A level where the player drove their car around the streets of Stalhburg, avoiding obstacles. There's no doubt about it. The map is pretty unfinished though. c9_m1_residential: Probably the map following the previous one. The player keeps driving the car and finally stops in a residential district, before going inside an underground tunnel, with the car too evidently, before leaving it behind. This map is mostly unfinished. c9_m1_residential_old: this one is actually much more finished and detailed than the one above. The player drove their car in a pretty long tunnel before arriving on the surface. There, you could exit your vehicle and go inside Mark's vacation home, before using your car to go into another tunnel and keep going. c9_m1b_shipyard: another driving map! And I think this is the one that preceded c9_m1_alley in the game. First you drove around a shipyard, opening some gates in the way, then into the streets downtown. It's about just as finished. c9_m2_motorway: it seems that after reaching his vacation home, Mark would use his car again to go on the motorway and drive like a madman, and on the wrong side of the road no less. The map is very unfinished. c11_ending_3_christmas: small map where the player is inside a chalet near a frozen lake, with snow and pinetrees all around. There's a Christmas tree inside too, but it looks like the player wasn't supposed to have a lot of free movement since some parts of the small chalet are empty. Menu screen perhaps? Or unfinished? Apart from that, the map looks pretty finished. drawbridge_OLD: seems like a very early rendition of the "isle", very unfinished and incomplete, but vastly different from the end result. gearbox: a small storage room. Looks like it might have been a testing map. menttiprojekti: looks like just a couple apartment blocks, with no interior and not much detail. Very unfinished. office_test: another different iteration of Mark's office building. Though the main hall is bigger than in the cut office map, it's not as big as in the final version. Here however, most of the rest of the building is missing. teaser: a night-time map containing a tramway station downtown and some underground tunnels. Very unfinished, kinda weird. tunnel3_old: various abandoned tunnels. It's hard to tell if they were eventually used in the game or not. Well, that's it. Very interesting stuff indeed. tl;dr: the game originally had a driving segment, where you drive your pick-up truck through some abandoned tunnels, through a shipyard, onto the streets downtown and onto the motorway, also stopping by your vacation home. Also there are two smaller iterations of Mark's office building, and there are several cut levels. Also Jesus Christ the NPC's following the camera around with their eyes almost gave me a heart attack :v:
I think the driving part got cut as it might not have been fun or source map size limitation couldn't justify having driving sections.
I think the driving part got cut as it might not have been fun or source map size limitation couldn't justify having driving sections.
The maps in Infra are pretty big, even bigger than most of what you've seen in Source. I think it got cut simply because going fast in a car broke with the slow, contemplative tone of the whole game.

With driving you'd have to make pretty large areas to allow driving and that would mean more detailing and worse performance. For example INFRA didn't always perform well like that map with drawbridge and the city centre. Though the map looks like it was cut rather early so you might definitely be right about it being scrapped for going against the slow gameplay it has. I'd love to see the devs commenting on these type of unfinished maps and give some insight what they were planning and why the scrapped them.

I picked up Infra over the Christmas sales and just "finished" it after 27 hours. I am extremely impressed with how well done it was! I was pretty into mapping on the Source engine about 9 years ago and it's great to see that engine still isn't holding back the insane amount of talent that the devs put into this. I feel like I missed out on a lot of stuff since I only got 45% of the achievements, despite feeling like I combed over everything. I missed basically all the geocaches and didn't normally get 50% of the photos. I also had to pull out the walkthrough at a few places after pacing around for a long time, completely lost, then I'd find out I just missed a single doorway or a key in an obvious spot... [sp]Tunip Hill was probably one of my favourite parts of the game, it was so densely packed full of fun stuff, I must have spent at least a couple hours wandering around there. Exploring the S.N.W bunker was also another highlight, it was so eerie and strange gradually finding out through documents/notes what happened, then uncovering that room with all the covered bodies I felt an instant, deep sinking feeling. [/sp] If I'm not wrong, this must be the longest single player title on the Source engine? With how well done it was, I wasn't expecting it to last more than a few hours, I was blown away that each time I sat down with it for an hour or two that it just kept going and wasn't losing any of the beautiful level design. I was a huge fan of Oskutin's maps back when I was still playing lots of GMod and I quickly recognised the style as I was playing thought the first couple hours. The story was so good and the delivery was great, though my memory is kind of crap and after 27 hours of reading scraps of paper and listening to tapes, I don't recall all the details. I'd love to see something like a short ebook spinoff of the story that was built in Infra. There were so many fun details that all connected together, I'd love to see them all connected. I'm super excited to see what Loiste does in the future!
I'm super excited to see what Loiste does in the future!
Not directly related to INFRA, but we're working on smaller "Open Sewer" (like Turnip Hill) themed project set in INFRA universe, before fully starting with VALTA. Some early VALTA concept art: [T]https://i.imgur.com/8pDZ0iF.jpg[/T][T]https://i.imgur.com/NkF3oXS.jpg[/T][T]https://i.imgur.com/lkh5hfr.jpg[/T] Due to it's sheer size, that game is going require some development help, as in crowdsourcing assets and sidestories, from community.
