What mod had this as its menu theme? Was it Redux?
Hehe yes, thanks for the memory!
I've not played Misery but I've had people tell me about it. I know I wouldn't like it so I just stay away from it. :P
As much as I dislike it I'd recommend you still at least try it to make up your own opinion on it.
As much as I dislike it I'd recommend you still at least try it to make up your own opinion on it.
No thanks, I think I'll pass. I'm not a fan of the super-hardcore-survival thing. It doesn't appeal to me. I'm sure there are other redeeming parts but I'm not interested.
I've been thinking of giving Misery 2.2 a go at some point. Though I sure hope they've tweaked some NPC resistance values.
Misery was good. But the aim bot ai. That can literally shoot you through concrete walls and foundations without being able to realistically know where you are under them. Merc plant in specific. And the fact that trench coat bandits can take a full mosin round to the face and shrug it off killed it for me. Etc etc ruins it. That and it looks like everything is covered in mud/manure...

I liked the new features and the extended gunplay, but some low life bandit scoundrel pulling off a 360 no scope from 1km away with a shotgun was completely off the "I can deal with this" chart. OGSE also kinda had it but you could use artifacts for more protection so that depended on the player.
My favorite thing about STALKER is the quick and dirty firefights on master and Misery takes those away. That's the core reason I disliked Misery. There were other reasons, but that was the main one.

Everything dying in 2 hits is not fun. Shooting bullet sponges isn't either.
I still find it weird that people had problems with bullet sponge in misery, I just load AP and not very many stalkers can resist more than a few rounds. Those that can are usually in exosuits, and even then once you get up to guns with level IV or V penetration they go down quickly. I have also found that the AI like to use AP rounds against you a lot so thats why their weapons seem to hurt you so much.
One reason CoM works well is CoC's greatly expanded maps allow for progression and better enemy distribution where for eg enemies in the southern maps usually don't have armor requiring AP or meme ammo so you don't get the bullet spongy feel unlike in CoP where 3 maps have every armor crammed into it. CoP has the least maps and it's tough to provide a sense of progression with that limited palette. CoM doesn't feel spongy because the balance is better across the CoC maps. Misery gameplay also suits CoC freeplay better than CoP's quest lines, I think. I bounced off Misery a couple times before CoM came out which I like even though it's mostly the same stuff I disliked in the context of CoP. The CoM guy has an eye for detail and that helps too. CoM is well more than just Misery scripts ported into CoC. It didn't slavishly copy spawns and all other details into CoC, he knew what he wanted out of that merge. The fork should be interesting with all of the new changes and ideas. It won't be called CoM, pretty sure.
I've wanted to try CoM for the exact reason v1ld said. Misery, visually and as a concept is great (excluding shitty 2000m range CIWS AI that eat bullets with their teeth), but CoP's map rotation of THREE means it's the least interesting of the series for mods, imo - and why I always run back to SoC mods instead.
Does anybody have some news from the Russian modding scene? Like, what happened to that AP ULTRA SECRET FOR YOUR EYES proyect or the Terra Incognita mod from the FOTOGRAF creators? It seems CoM is THE thing being brought into the western/anglo community right now but I guess there must something else out there besides it.
I find it infinitely amusing when tossing guns at stalkers and watching as the gun spaghettis onto the NPC's back a nanosecond later as he goes to equip it

Technically, whole CoM is almost your work Lanforse Lanforse 9:21 pm Misery gave it a content, ideas. But the instruments, the realisation is 90% depends on scripts
Yeah, he isn't a dummy though. He has to understand a lot about how stalker modding works to have pulled off the merge and from what I know he is relatively new to the scene. So it's impressive in that regard.
Maybe he went to a russian wizardry school and took selective STALKER Modding subjects.
STALKER modification classes are compulsory in all Russian wizardry-related institutions
Popped my CoP disk into my PC to get ready for another CoC playthrough, and... Shucks, fellas, looks like I can't play :(
GOG to the rescue https://www.gog.com/reclaim
You can actually proceed just fine with the install. I left the hardware survey option checked, maybe they're still getting those? :v:
In Call of Misery is there a way to disable the aggravating daylight radiation thing? I see how some can find it fun, but to me it's just annoying.
In Call of Misery is there a way to disable the aggravating daylight radiation thing? I see how some can find it fun, but to me it's just annoying.
It should be in game options; I thought it was off by default though.
It should be in game options; I thought it was off by default though.
Huh strange it is. For some reason in the Great Swamp I was irradiated and I wouldn't go away no matter how many anti-rad things I used.

Ive already forgotten what it was, but I feel like it was another SoC redo. Shoker 3.0 was supposed to be out late last year, so no idea where that is at. Probably the only interesting thing near release whatever the death defying guys were working on.
SGM3.0 when? First it was November last year. Then Februari this year. Now it's dead.

Long live the old stalker modding scene. Now we have to wait for more things made with CoC (like CoM)
Huh strange it is. That area in particular is a huge pain in the ass because if you so much as touch any of the water, even for a second, you get irradiated, and it takes forever to go away.
I'm looking forward to finally trying Lost Alpha at the end of April.

I don't remember that happening before is it a CoM only type thing?
I just realized the old woman zombie model used in some mods is actually the old woman used in metro 2033 (for example, fotograf mod has a old woman appearing next to the zombie who activates the dark energy machine and it's the same as those found in the VDNKH station)
STALKER Bundle is at 75% of discount on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/35983/ I think you can use the GameSpy key you get to reclaim it on GoG too.
