Apparently Ray of Hope isn't actually a co-op stalker mod, instead it's a multiplayer game played on servers provided by the devs

Um... Uh... But it was never advertised as a coop mod. At least that's what was said on multiple russian forums and their site.
I really don't get why people thought it will be just a coop for vanilla Stalker games.

Because it was on english sites, at least in this FAQ. Granted they might be translation issues but at at least one point someone said there would be private servers.
Q: With this mod, can you play the singleplayer campaign with friends?
A: Yes, it's both coop and multiplayer. You have and open-world and other players.

Q: Servers?
A: Public and private servers.
What a total mess, I mean I know the core developers are mostly Russian but how do you fuck up this bad for two year straight that even other developers have no idea what is actually going on.

Seems more like people greatly misunderstood the concept of RoH's coop, which is about teaming up with other players/friends on a big freeplay maps rather than playing vanilla story on local server.
But i'm pretty sure having only devs servers at the start doesn't mean there won't be an option to make your own later.
God damn it.
I really wanted to avoid it being like DayZ/PUBG and the like.
I wanted to roam around the Zone with my friends, not get killed by some scumbag 2km away who got lucky and found an SVD in a building.
That's literally the one single thing I didn't want to happen
That is very disappointing.
As always many people are just acting like a bunch of disgusting crybabies.

Let them finish it and you'll get your precious friends-only servers.

was the snotty tone really necessary

Reactions here and on ModDB page make it look like Colonial Marines v2.
So yes, people need to get their shit together and stop calling it end of the world.

No offence but anyone's reaction which is them being upset or disappointed is entirely justified up until they announced the SDK since that then opens the door so quit being a cunt, peoples opinions will change now, although I still don't get why people are complaining it's not the story coop who cares about doing that coop, it's not tailored to coop.
i recommend not having hope for anything ever and you won't get disappointed
that's also the most thematically appropriate approach
As always many people are just acting like a bunch of disgusting crybabies.
Unless your audience voices opinion how else will change happen?
I'd rather be a part of crybabies if that's what it takes for them to understand the decision is bad.

Especially since you were essentially lied to/disinformed. Of course people are upset.
yeah I don't care at all for doing the story coop, main thing is playing whatever there is with friends and not with people I don't know. That's exactly why I don't want to play Stalker (or S-Zone) Online, Escape from Tarkov etc. If this is public servers only I'll just never touch it and move on

Exactly the same here.
I didn't want co-op with the vanilla story, I just wanted CoC with friends basically.

That's exactly what are they making - multiplayer CoC.
Judging from all the info we have at a moment there gonna be a bunch of strict rules to prevent average cowadooty/dayz kids from turning it into deathmatch.

People don't want to deal with pubs at all. Even if they're just an inconvenience it's an inconvenience we don't want to have to deal with at all.

That's pretty optimistic, but I guess we'll see what happens - if it comes out at all.

At least give it a try. Unlike other survival games you don't have to buy it.

Only if the devs have a system that prevents pubs from being unbearable shitheads. My friends and I just wanted co-op in a stalker setting without having to deal with other people, not having to worry about whether or not some pub has decided to camp a good looting spot with a sniper rifle because he thinks its funny.
Been playing Call of Chernobyl off and on for a week and a half on Ironman middle difficulty, and I cannot for the life of me seem to gain a reliable foothold. Can't survive long enough in any faction not to die. I've been doing mostly Loner and that's where I've gotten the furthest. Has anyone got any recommendations to help me survive the Zone?
Play as a bandit, it's how I got really far on ironman. You have a less likely chance of dying out of nowhere when practically every stalker you meet is an enemy.
Don't play as the Monolith though, every time I play as the Monolith I have an urge to throw myself at enemy factions for the Monolith's glory.
I want that true STALKER experience, which is part of why I've been going Loner.

hey guys heres this thing, you can do this and this in it when it's done
*1+ year later*
lol sorry guys its actually this
who cares you best be counting your lucky stars that the thing even releases
STALKER is a graveyard of unfinished projects far less ambitious than what these guys are doing.

middle difficulty like Stalker? I'd honestly switch to Master if I were you.
Money-wise hunting mutants can be fairly profitable - a double-barreled shotgun is cheap and its ammo is cheaper, but with some running around (or the high ground) you can finish off mutants pretty quickly. Use parts to complete missions where you can and sell the rest to Sakharov - there's lots of good money to be made in the Bar - Warehouses - Yantar area.
I'm more salty about Frozen Zone being outright canceled than having to play RoH on pubs for the first few months after release.
I'm salty about Stalker 2
I'm salty about Stalker 2
I still wonder if they'll ever come back to it now that they're done with Cossacks 3.
God I hope they do.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
Would be great with a Stalker 2 though.
