I've been there like several times and still couldn't find it.
There should be 3 in the tunnels under the depot/southernmost garbage pile - 1 is on top of a pile of crates, the other two should be on the ground or close to it. There should be 1 in the hideout under the eastern garbage pile... I forget exactly where, but it's in there somewhere and I had to backtrack at least once before I found it. Good luck.
Now with: local view, safe zones
Whats the average FPS drop from all the UI elements?
Just this sort-of-decent resolution is enough to over halve my framerate. :^)
Of course you're not really doing anything else while you're looking at the map so it's not a huge deal, but it's probably going to have to look pretty blocky so I don't murder anyone's GPU.
Brothers, let me tell you of my fruitful haul from the center of the Zone! After taking shelter from a blowout in the CNPP, I made a great discovery in the depths of the old service tunnels: a rare artifact called Honeycomb! With my prize in tow, I returned outside to find that the surge had passed and night had fallen, but the power plant grounds were illuminated by the soft glow of freshly birthed artifacts! So I set to work... They were plentiful in Pripyat, too. All told, I managed to bag the Honeycomb, a Night Star, one Battery, three Mama's Beads, several Jellies, a school of Goldfish, and a whole bouquet of Stone Flowers... the Zone is good my friends, the Zone is good.

I had a similar experience while playing OGSE the other day. I walked out of shelter after a blowout in Agroprom and found a small platoon of dead soldiers and a bunch of mutants and zombie corpses clustered around a couple of Springboards and walked away with like 4 Stone Flowers, a handful of night stars, a bunch of jellyfish, etc.
Gave me a nice financial legup when I got to the Bar. Was able to buy myself some nice armor and ammo for my 5.45 Groza

5.45 Groza is beast, it's actually one of the weapons I can use without attaching scopes, and I think in the CoP You can attach scope and silencer on it.
Do you have any programs running in the background? I searched part of your error code and got a thread back about someone who fixed it by turning off a background-running video capture program or something like that

MSi Afterburner in the background but that's all. Like I said before, the normal installation works just fine, it starts crashing as soon as I apply the patches and launch it. I'll try it again in the future sometime, hopefully they'll fix it with another patch.
I haven't played any other stalker games other than CoP, been playing CoC for the past two weeks on and off.( For the first time)
I just went through the DarkScape for the first time, at nighttime while it was raining...
:worried: Now I'm not the kind of guy for spooky shit but holy fuck. I'm never going through there again. Finally got to X18 and this shit is fucking scary. Call me a pussy but fml this is freaky.
I collected a bunch of images of some of the real world locations that inspired those in the various games. These are mostly CoP areas but there's a few SoC ones and one from CS.

This is what always kinda annoyed me about Stalker; the maps are so hilly and "unnatural" while in real life the Zone is really flat.

if you make areas as flat as in real life you end up with even more draw distance issues than vanilla CoP
if you make areas as flat as in real life you end up with even more draw distance issues than vanilla CoP
True - having as much foliage as the real world would cut down on draw distances considerably, but of course that'd have its own issues.

Ehh I think it's an understandable sacrifice. CoP is overall much flatter and more open than CS and SoC, but as a result you get much more "AI pops you while you look for cover"
The reduced sightlines of SoC's maps actually help the AI be a little more unpredictable too, and I think as a result I have much more fun playing in them.

What you could do is make obstructions that aren't natural. Rubble, rocks, barbed wire, etc.
But instead you end up in these canyons and it gets really weird looking. The bar is possibly the worst for this.
I don't know why but it really cracked me up. It happens to me quite often in CoC.

Personally I prefer the hilly nature of STALKER's maps, they're not entirely realistic but it's a lot more interesting, imo. Alongside the beforementioned issues of AI popping you from a km away and various performance and draw distance issues with X-Ray, it's definitely a necessary sacrifice.
Also, quite a lot of SoC's maps are pretty flat anyway. Pripyat, Rostok/Wild territory, Stancia/Chnpp, the garbage besides the big fuck off piles of trash :v:
It's really only Cordon, Dark Valley, and Radar that are the big offenders

I can kinda buy it on Cordon and even Dark Valley but the Army Warehouses is ridiculously hilly...
The worst part for me isn't the hills, it is the random huge boulders and ugly cliffs that border some of the maps. Really bad on Radar in particular. Northern part of Cordon is kinda bad too. Don't even get me started on Darkscape...
hey
does call of misery work with the last release of CoC? And can I install arsenal overhaul on top of it

Oh right I forgot Army Warehouses
couldn't some modders or devs create zones with bushes/trees which block the drawing range of the game engine? Like instead of slapping a hill and not making the PC draw what's behind it, you slap in some trees with bushes in between (kinda like the bocage in Normandy) and then tell it "Hey, whatever is behind this trees which are inside the player POV, dont draw it"?
EDIT: Man, btw, fuck that part in OGSE where you have to make like 3-4 journeys into Darkscape without a fucking car. Even though, love the 3-4 long quests that you can do there (The one finding the bunker with some scientists, the one finding the bunker with a new group, the one where you have to grab the rolling artifact (Fuck that anomaly field though) and the Dark Stalker one).

That's called an occlusion plane, and yes, the game already does things like that. Use the demo cam to go places you shouldn't and you'll see parts of the map popping in and out all over the place.
Speaking of stalker cliffs, has anybody ever tried to remodel those cliffs to look nicer?
Or add individual rock models to them?
Back in the day I was so scared of the mutants that I didn't play single player past the first couple of missions in SoC, and I would just play multiplayer because I enjoyed the gameplay and atmosphere so much.
I'm glad that I'm past that now :v: the game is definitely something worth experiencing.

Is there a multiplayer mod for CoC yet? Playing with a friend or two in the sandbox would be pretty cool.
Is there any sort of mod for CoC that adds random misc. radio messages? I've always found those great in SoC mods.
And also the ones that announce a stalker's death, and what they died from is also cool, it probably doesn't make a ton of sense to have but I like them anyway.
The game is set in Chernobyl, but gets much of its visual style from the movie STALKER, which was filmed in other, actual ecological disaster zones around and created by the USSR. Several crew members died because of filming in them. There were hills, berms, etc, that the devs probably thought it would have been wrong to leave out. Kiev, 60 miles from Chernobyl, and where GSC was based is surprisingly hilly. The Arsenalna Metro station is one of the deepest in the world, and has two exceedingly long soviet escalators to traverse from the entrance to the tracks.
I really like SWTC and AN4

It's also in the base game along with the PDA. Except for the music part.

What about the part where you can turn your artifact into a land mine?
Figured you guys would like this if you haven't seen it already. Former Giant Bomb employee Drew Scanlon spent a couple days in Chernobyl.

There's no crowbar in SoC, but you can find Freeman's corpse in the same spot, and you get the same Found PDA entry.
The airboat makes an appearance in OGSE as well...
