I am all for texture packs, but please make the comparison images .png :( Anyway, I have to agree with the rest here. I download the pack only to see it's an installer and I haven't touched it since, even if it's a great texture pack. There's no real reason to keep someone from downloading an archive. I for example want to compare textures side by side to see whether your pack or another has better quality textures / which are more fitting. It's personal preference and an installer kind of diminishes this. Just my 2c.
Technically there's nothing stopping you from just installing it into an empty folder, but that's kind of obnoxious. Even Cromm's packs (Absolute Nature, Atmosfear, etc) usually had most of the files sitting outside the main installer which made it easy to pick out what you want or need if you didn't/couldn't use the installer
Well no one force anyone to install it or check it. But its funny that people here complain about something that have nothing to do with actual content of mod... its like complaining that food in restaurant was served on rectangular plates not on round ones, no one care about food... 10 post about complaining about something that you will use one time, and just two small mentions about actual content. I hope you understand that from my perspective its fricking hilarious. Half year of work, hundreds of hours spend on something that I want to give community for free.... and you complain about installer that you can just use once, extract all to empty folder, and use it as you like... Im still working on remaking as many textures as possible(just finished zaton ship textures) and Im still gonna use installer. zip will be provided only for other devs that want to use those textures in their mods, because later I will put there original 4096px res images for some of textures. You will always have people who talk down on your work, regardless of how many hours you've put into the mod. You will need to learn how to deal with that if you want to continue your work in the long run. This tip is applicable to almost every daily task / job you do, as well. You will never get 100% praise. In regards to the installer: You might think it's hilarious, well, so do I. It's hilarious how something as simple as an installer + core folders are this big of an obstacle. It almost feels like you want to keep some sort of particularity to your mod so noone steals your work. If this might be true, let me tell you: HD Models for CoC wasn't even released fully and the models were already in use by STALKER-CLAN.SU and serbian modssites that hotlinked to their own, with ads-infested download pages. You can't battle the thieves, just be sure to profile yourself so your name and quality in its own is a watermark (look at cromm). Lastly, I'm sure your textures reign supreme over many of the other texture packs. I have my thoughts about some textures, for example in this texture, I would remove the "wiring" as it looks very fake and serves no true purpose (also breaks through the seem of the interior model), the upper left corner and center of this naked stucco wall would've looked good with the brick accents as well, I gotta agree with this texture being awful, dislike the barn door here where a replacement of the original door in better quality would've been better, feel like the old texture has a LOT more visual fidelity due to the stretchy nature of the texture here and I would diversify the colours in this texture more to make it look less bland. Lastly, imho the bumps are too strong and this saturated ground texture has a huge impact on overall feel, so I'd tone down the saturation a slight notch. I've taken a look at all of your screenshots and I've only had my thoughts about these textures. And even then, you could say: "That's a nice opinion, Loner. But, I don't agree" and I would be totally fine with it, since the rest of the textures look outstanding and I can change the above-mentioned ones myself. Your texture pack is nice. It really is. The only person who makes quality textures like yourself I know of is DonKnotts who does the work for RADIUM. I hope you continue to do what you do best and although I really, really dislike people who ask for donations, I would love to buy you a coffee and some cookies. Just don't mind the negativity too much, you will always have those pain-in-the-ass people (like me) who always have something to say. If you agree; change it. If you don't; disregard them. Waste of your time. More than 2c, but I just wanted to share. I have since this post downloaded your textures and merged them with my CoC build. Thanks and keep it up. I hope team RADIUM can someday have a taste of your 4K textures, since Don and I would very much appreciate your patronage (English is not my first language, so if this word is wrong, please correct me. I think contribution would look better...) In other texture news [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/21/20712/HDhudRemakeWIP.png[/t] Twisted is making a new HUD that's suited to 1920x1080 displays.

I wish there was more weird shit in stalker, especially weird characters that kind of stick to themselves. Forester is great and so is the monolith, and I love the story about "bread". I guess anomalies and mutants sort of fit the bill, especially controllers and psy dogs but I still want that weird hermit you come across who may or may not be a cannibal and that sort of thing.

I encounter many comments like that and Im not sad/mad about it, I just stated my opinion about those comments. I dont expect 100% praise, I never thought about it, I expect nothing more than comments about actual content not installer that is noting more than zip file with gui that you use only once... I dont even care about sticking my name to this mod, not to mention that my nick in moddb is not nick that I normally use. Whole point of installer is to give people nice way to choose what they want to install. End of story. There is no hidden meaning behind it. I found out that most of people like it and Im not gonna stop using it because small percentage of people dont like it.
My textures will be used in RADIUM and few other mods, actually I told MSwartz that he can use them if he want long time ago, when those textures where separated as addons for CoC.
Just wait till people start cussing you out and telling you to commit suicide, thats when you know you're doing a good job.
Few years back when I was making mods for Skyrim, someone send me few emails accusing me of stealing images to make textures and threaten me with lawyers xD Funny thing was that those texture where default Skyrim textures and I just made new bumpmaps for them... :D :D That was seriously amazing... Now I hope everything is clear and we can hug each other :]
i dont think they meant replacing the installer, just providing an archive option for people who prefer it i havent checked out your texture ingame but i enjoy graphical upgrades which dont compromise the style of the game so I imagine I'd like it, keep up the work.

Very few have a high chance of survival on their own, it's be the same in real life.
You know what, not matter how many times i play SHOC, i cannot help but do this. It just feels, 'right'. Forgive the Potato PC graphics.
Could anyone help me with an Autumn Aurora 2.1 crash as soon as it starts? Vanilla game works fine, installed AA 2.1 and now it's instantly crashing upon start-up. I've never had this issue before with the 1.0006 Steam version with the overlay enabled. I even have my old AA 2.1 screenshots in my Steam folder from the last time I played it. I've already tried various things like turning Steam overlay off, verifying cache, static lighting and so on, i'm also not getting an error log after the crash (even tried CTRL+V in notepad afterwards). Any help would be appreciated.
if you installed the enb ive had that be pretty tempermental, probably doesnt explain the static lighting crash but still.
Yeah i've always used the ENB before and it's been fine, would love to know what's causing the crash. Edit: GoG version with AA 2.1 works fine, i'm confused.

I could understand doing it in 2007 having done it myself but these days even a shitty computer can run it pretty decently.

I'd go out and get a 1060 6gb Yesterday if It wasnt at such a bullshit price at the moment. Valid reason or not you decide.

And then Crysis came out...
seeing STALKER so lowspec feels really fucking surreal, considering what you can make it look like today.
seeing STALKER so lowspec feels really fucking surreal, considering what you can make it look like today.
Whenever I see really good screenshots of STALKER, like the ones of environments that look almost photorealistic, I always remind myself that the game started development in 2001 and can still very much look like a game from 2001.

For 2004-era code the FDL renderer is really goddamn impressive.
In other news ... Frozen Zone has warmed up since and seems to be called Summer Zone now?
I'm still bitter about Frozen Zone being terminated. STALKER in the winter would be fucking excellent. They had a really good thing going and I wish they had released the assets for another team to pick up.
I'm still bitter about Frozen Zone being terminated. STALKER in the winter would be fucking excellent. That little demo where the player was inside a shack searching stuff was too damn cool to be true.
Don't forget that most of the models in STALKER were made between 2002 and 2004, which is why they're so funky. Clown shoes for one.
STALKER models are well designed. They aren't the most high poly or high resolution but they still look good. You can drop them in high detail environments with high detail weapons and most of them still look fine. I have always been impressed by how simple and low-detail the STALKER models really are while still looking good.

Just for fun I made few graphic and configs, literally in one day, for Desert Stalker, but I ditched that idea after few hours, because game would need new models and huge map editing to actually look good, retexturing is not enough its look fake as hell. Its loot of work, and probably that why most of big mods that change game completely never see the day light or are dull, boring and filled with bugs, its just need massive amount of work :/ PS. for lolz here is this one-day-work desert mod -_-

Some of them are also...reworked models of former GSC games or recycled assets from earlier builds. Which makes it even more impressive. And yes, 800x600 minimum configuration with static lighting STALKER has its....special magic.
With some more development it would be an interesting twist, but I think the bright environment would conflict with a lot of STALKER's mutants.
Hey guys,i have been thinking of re-installing my Stalker:Call of Pripyat and i wanted to play Call of Chernobyl to try out my new laptop. What other mods do you recommend to enhance COC and also other mods besides COC?Please DO NOT recommend me Misery,i'm sorry but fuck that shit.
Is there a way to disable/decrease the ridiculous NPC/Player collision? Its like there is a massive barrier around NPCs in Call of Chernobyl that you get caught on all the time.
