Here I am just wallowing in the fact that Wormwood got shelved. When it came to realism, I liked Redux so much more than Misery even though it was so very much more simple and basic. Wormwood had so many neat concepts and its a shame to never see them realized.
Seemed like there would've been a fantastic soundtrack too. I still use this one for my ambient music playlist when I play STALKER.
[t]https://puu.sh/xNMia/5f0e8928e6.jpg[/t]
I used those flowers! Not a lot of people liked them, but I think it looks great ingame. [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/20/19369/XR_3DA_2015-11-16_11-15-22-31.png[/t] Not the best screenshot showing them off. But I love myself a lush and green zone.
I don't get this.. Ranger's sawn-off can kill anyone I've met at close range and a mosin-nagant at any range assuming you hit the head. I expect this to change when I run into exoskeleton mercs or something, but still the peasant bandit/loners are easily dispatched. [editline]1st October 2017[/editline] Like, SO FAR IN ZATON**, I feel like there's a good balance that anyone can kill anyone if they're caught flat-footed.
I don't know anything about this current version of Misery, but an older one I've played I shot a leather jacket bandit with several mags from an AKM and he didn't die
Hey guys, Warfare just got updated for 1.5r6: https://bitbucket.org/xarshi/warfare/commits/7265edf89d32b4af7e94afe1fd40e8279c2a42f3
Is there a mod that bumps up A-Life by a crazy amount? I'm talking large battles between humans and mutants happening almost constantly across the Zone at any given time, just to give it the most hectic feeling as possible. One of my best experiences in any of the games was when I was forced to hold out at the substation near Zaton against an emission, like 15 fleshes, 10 boars, a couple bloodsuckers, and roughly five or so controllers. Shit was too nuts not to want to have happen again.
For what game?
I'd prefer if it were for CS or CoP, only because those games have shit like weapon/armor upgrades. But I feel like SoC would be better suited engine-wise.
I have a short story about someone who told me they were a hardcore STALKER fan and was going to stream the game. They load up the game with the complete mod and start a new game. They don't play on master difficulty, they play on loner difficulty. He starts the game with an AKM and 120 rounds for it. He goes and clears out the bandits at the garage with ease, since he has an AKM already. Then he goes back to Sidorovich and turns in the mission stuff. What's the first thing he does after that? Well, it's complete, so you can just join a faction right at the start of the game by talking to the trader. Of course, he immediately joins Duty. Joining Duty gives him one of their suits, an AK-74, and opens the way to the bar immediately. So he goes to the bar, collecting artifacts along the way. Because he already belongs to duty, he can go straight to the Duty trader, who apparently sells Exoskeleton right away. The Artifacts were worth enough money to get an Exoskeleton. So 30 minutes into the game, he has an exoskeleton, 300 rounds of AP 5.45 ammo. The game now has zero difficulties. He claimed to be a master STALKER player, and the Complete was the best mod. When I asked what other mods he'd played, it was just Stalker soup, Autumn Aurora, and Misery. He said Stalker soup was bad and too hard, Autumn Aurora wasn't very good, and that Misery was too hard, but seemed like a good mod, because it had classes. I don't know why I watched his stream all the way through. he didn't seem to understand anything about STALKER, and basically just wanted the game to feel like call of duty. This is the same guy who claims that complete is the required STALKER experience. Other things of note. Duty is the best faction. Freedom is a bunch of Weed smoking terrorists. Loners are losers, and Monolith would have been better if they used more sci-fi guns. These are all things he claimed.
May the zone claim his life.
I'd prefer if it were for CS or CoP, only because those games have shit like weapon/armor upgrades. But I feel like SoC would be better suited engine-wise.
Have you tried CoC yet? It has built in controls for multiplying the amount of mutants and stalkers.
Other things of note. Duty is the best faction. Freedom is a bunch of Weed smoking terrorists. Loners are losers, and Monolith would have been better if they used more sci-fi guns. After all, most of them do try and kill military personnel, and other people, in the name of their faction ideology or big scary artifact or whatever.
any good mods to use with CoC? specifically looking for graphic overhauls and weapon mods including new weapons and increased damage
Couldn't Clear Sky, Monolith, and literally any faction be considered terrorists? He refused to play Clear Sky for some reason that I forget (it was something asinine and had to do with factions). And in CoP he'd immediately shoot freedom guys when he saw them. Dude's a bit crazy. He does nothing but play PUBG now.
Honestly I think that is part of most of our problems. Misery is so publicized that a lot of new players think it's an 'essential' mod. Unfortunately, this actually sours the reputation of STALKER among new players - I've actually seen it happen personally. Misery is not exactly fun if you don't know STALKER well, and the brutal difficulty (whether you consider it 'artificial' or whatever) is very off-putting to newbies. A lot of this, in my opinion, is the fanbase's fault. You guys have a very, very loud fanbase, and that's all well and good. But they practically evangelize the mod, and this can go from annoying to downright harmful for reasons I've listed above. Understand, I am (and others) are not hating on Misery because of what it is. Misery is a great project and one of the most cohesive mods for STALKER out there - right up there with the greats like AMK, CoC, LA, Priboi Story, etc. I just wish these other mods got more attention.
People need to just get over it. It's an SP game and if they want to play a certain mod, then whatever. Doom has this problem too where everyone is 200% concerned with what other people are doing with their games for some reason. If Misery gets someone to actually play STALKER instead of giving it a pass, then good. Maybe they'll stick around and try out other things, but at least they may get to try a game they would have otherwise ignored. While I mostly like the Doom and STALKER communities for how long lasting they've been, they can be too insular and treat themselves like an exclusive club sometimes where their word is dogma.

Just started my first playthrough of the series last night, I only got the ZRP mod to bug fix and change some settings, playing on master difficulty and the game is pretty awesome so far!
Other things of note. Duty is the best faction. Freedom is a bunch of Weed smoking terrorists. But most important: Its only faction in the zone that have clean toilets and beds :D I can ensure you that after few nights in wet, destroyed buildings on dirty beds you would kill for one night in proper bed and clean toilet :]
This is the same guy who claims that complete is the required STALKER experience
This is why I don't browse the Facebook STALKER group. Everybody there is shilling Complete mod.
I haven't even touched Complete yet. What is the appeal for that mod?
I haven't even touched Complete yet. What is the appeal for that mod?
I think it was designed to fix bugs, "improve" some stuff, and make the game look better. Problem is that it's outdated so it introduces more bugs than it fixes and a lot of changes make the game ridiculously easy. You'd be better off getting something like ZRP and picking your own texture mods to install instead. The main reason it's popular is because a bunch of uninformed people or dipshits keep saying that it's the proper way to play STALKER and should be installed on your first run of the game.
As a new player what kind of things do the mod introduce to make the game; as you put "ridiculously easy"?
It changes several gun and armor stats that tilt the game balance in the player's favor, mostly.
It changes several gun and armor stats that tilt the game balance in the player's favor, mostly.
As it seems now, the guns I am using seem inaccurate which I always felt was how the game was supposed to be played, if the pistol was as accurate as I aim (which might not be that good anyway) it would be kind of boring and a generic shooter game so I don't think I'd want that mod then.
As a new player what kind of things do the mod introduce to make the game; as you put "ridiculously easy"?
One of the big reasons, in my opinion, was stated above:
Well, it's complete, so you can just join a faction right at the start of the game by talking to the trader. Also, being able to gear up at Bar before Agroprom can potentially ruin the challenge of all the stuff that happens at Agroprom.
From the Steam forums:
It does seem like it makes the whole game a bit easier then, not just the combat. I've not gotten to a point where I need to use night vision yet, is there a way that I can change the colour from green? I am colourblind and the only time I have used night vision in another game was CoD:MW and I couldn't see anything.

I do believe there are mods though.
Have you tried CoC yet? It has built in controls for multiplying the amount of mutants and stalkers.
CoC is fun, but goddamn it gets boring fast. I'll screw around with the multipliers and see what happens though.
