Damn that look amazing, especially that room with window, It seriously can beat most of new games in terms of photo realistic look -_-
I would kill Chimera with my bare hands just to use that. But for most of time Im playing on laptop, and even if I can max out everything, every time when I use any shaders in Stalker I have 10fps and messed up main menu... weirdly in other games, like skyrim I dont have such drops
its the opposite for me :v i can play stalker at 4k w/max graphics, texture mods, and my own reshade preset but i can never play any of the newer bethesda games without stuttering.
Pardon my dumb question, but why are the Complete mods so hated?I like their graphics overhauls.
Pardon my dumb question, but why are the Complete mods so hated?I like their graphics overhauls.
they make the game much easier at the start, as well as changing some of the core progression mechanics of the game which generally detracts from the experience of the game, or at least that's what I've come to understand, I haven't touched them personally.
Ah,i see.I played it some time ago so i don't remember much,i played the COP and the CS mods one time each.
Speaking of MXAO, for some reason CoC doesn't like ReShade. I can't force SMAA or MXAO because the depth read and colour buffer is all fucky or something.
Does anyone know if Duty is supposed to be hostile in Killzone 2? I had to kill half the inhabitants of the Bar and things don't seem to be too broken otherwise.
It's lovely until the modder forgets to add no anomaly zones and you end up having a whirligig anomaly right in the middle of the Duty door which guards the access to Bar from Garbage
Asking you guys who know a lot about engines (Alundaio and his teammates must know a lot about this question):
Is the XRAY engine ahead of the rest in AI terms?
I've never seen a single player FPS with the type of AI found in STALKER. More so if we're talking about mods like CoC or OGSE. OGSE as I said a couple of months ago had some ARMA alike stuff, like the military being the only ones to move in the open in formation, keeping space between them and crouching as soon as they engaged you. While the bandits were cheeki breekin all over the place and just falling to F1 grenades.
Some other mods configured the AI in a very annoying way. Zone of Alienation for example for some reason included sprinting into their combat logic so the bandits at the car park almost behaved like quake players. I remember they sprinted up to me and blasted me in the face with their sawn off.
Most games just go with a simple navmesh and collision system. Xray's AI map has to be compiled and it calculates cover in all directions for each node based on the static geometry. So where they move in combat is actually strategic, they move from cover point to cover point depending on what direction their enemy is in. They duck and come around corners. It's amazing.
As for GOAP, which dictates which action the AI currently performs in a seemingly random order, only a handful games use it. The only other games I can think of that use it well are FEAR and Fallout 4. Fallout 4's AI is pretty good, it's just the animations are screwed up sometimes. Like they do the wrong animation looking around a corner or something. Xray defaut engine actions are definitely goap, but the scripted schemes are kind of a hybrid of GOAP/Finite State Machine, because it's hard to get goap to do exactly what you want when you want. Anyone interested in AI shouldn't look at the lua scripts as examples on how to do goap properly :cat:

It's a feature.

What Mod? I like the simple but neat idea of bullets replacing bolts
What Mod? I like the simple but neat idea of bullets replacing bolts
Seems wasteful, I dunno. :v:

Brutal Mod. Doppelganger also has that
Seems wasteful, I dunno. :v:
Probably a lot easier to come by empty casings than an infinite supply of rusty bolts tbqh
What Mod? I like the simple but neat idea of bullets replacing bolts
I once had an idea for a small minimod that'd replace bolts with a random assortment of small objects :v:
Bolts, nuts, screws, spent casings, small rocks, pieces of scrap metal, etc.
5.45x39mm casings are most likely littered around the zone in overabundance.
Seems wasteful, I dunno. :v:
Just throw some 9x18mm rounds, easy.
:cat:
Thanks for the comment. Extremely insightful.
TKGP where did you find that Brutal mod? I've been googling for it but to no avail. Moddb hasn't got it also.

It's Жесть in Russian, I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention it in English. You can get it on AP-pro. It's not good.
what if their were tiers for throwable junk like rocks could do normal anomalies casings could do normal + electric and bolts could do normal + electric + magnetic anomolies
just a thought

Bottles of vodka, sausages, Snork feet..

That sounds like a lot of complicated systems to add for very little gain, mechanically or entertainingly. I expect to see it in the next edition of Misery.

I read his comment of "bullets replacing bolts" before watching the vid and assumed he really did mean bullets as opposed to empty casings. My fault.

That would be a nice flavor mod. How difficult would something like that be to implement?

Wether or not they're spent or live rounds, it'd be a neat little flavor enhancer for mods that need magazines added to the belt.
You throw out a single shell/casing that would drain one from your reserves and have it replace the bolt's purpose. Maybe live rounds would have a chance to go off, depending on the anomaly.
RADIUM weapons getting the love they deserve

Hearing those shots and thinking about BF1 sound effects...I wonder...
Do some STALKER Mods suffer from something alike to the "loudness war" from CD and song remasterings?

You seem to be a true zone STALKER
I always wondered what's the difference between all those STALKER russian mods. Like, I've heard this mod, Golden Sphere, has some new mechanics and cool new quests yet all the other zones like this one you mentioned or Lost World are usually deemed slav radioactive waste.

I don't really understand the question. Plenty of Russian mods are unrepentant garbage. So are plenty of Western mods. The main distinction is that Russian mods are often garbage in new and interesting ways while Western mods tend to be garbage in the same boring ways as each other.
Here's a webm of Chuck Norris punching me into the 4th dimension while I have a conversation with Santa Claus. I hope it clears things up.

oh my bad it wasn't a question. It's just that it amazes me that the Russians churn out so many mods all the time and I feel like we might be losing something amazing or new mechanis (Thus my Golden sphere comment) because it's buried along with all the other mods that are other minimods stitched together (and badly).

Not that i don't totally dig this and it's not specifically pointed at anyone, but i wish mods would start putting more unique guns into the game. I'm not talking like space guns or anything but like there are plenty of WW1/WW2 era guns that would totally make sense to be in the zone but are passed over for endless AK and AR15 variants. I loves me some glorious Soviet steel but still.
I love having billions of AKs but they should be in alongside other guns available in Europe
I love having billions of AKs but they should be in alongside other guns available in Europe
I loved how in vanilla you had a nice variety of guns from both sides of the Iron Curtain. Folks like the Mercenaries had western guns, while Military goons of course had their Slavic shooters.

Damn you make my day putting this music in this video... Shiro Sagisu maybe is not best composer but he made damn good job with EoE.

Its nice to have more guns, but sometimes too much is not good. Most of game treat guns like power-ups
that get better later in game(deal more damages), so they put lots of guns that most of people dont even look at, so all that hard work made by moders is wasted, because players aim to get most expensive one that make more damages.
Gun is a gun, difference should not be focused in damages, but in properties, so there would would be situations where you have two sniper rifles but one do more damages than other, because you get it later in game.
That why I always tell that there should be damage balance 1:1 where player and NPC are equal. After that you can have less guns but make them more unique, so even if two sniper rifles would deal the same damage, one, eg Dragunov would have slower movement, more recoil and aim swing, but better zoom better bullet trajectory, and other(eg VSS Vintorez) would not be anymore "ultimate weapon" of stalker, all of his advantages would be just suppressor, fire rate and nice look(because it just look cool)...
Instead of having 10000 guns it would be better to have less but with more customization options(even colors) and more realistic deterioration and cleaning process. After that player would focus to get just one gun that he would love and use all the time, cleaning it and keeping it safe like his best girlfriend in cold nights :]
But still if we talk about gun wish list, for me game is perfect if it have FN P90, Polish FB MSBS and Easter-Egg weapon: APS underwater rifle to nail the crap out of enemies :D
Im going to Chernobyl Exclusion Zone tomorrow! For 7 days.
Will post a lot of pictures once I come back, IF i come back.
Also, we are planning to climb DUGA 3
