S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: Maybe someday mods releasing edition

If anyone likes reading, I'm about to release a Fanfiction called STALKER: Expedition in the coming week or so. I wanted to capture something of the Zone that never gets really pursued in any of the media related to the game (not Roadside Picnic), of the darker more dangerous and disturbing Zone where the biggest threats are just as much of the environment as the people, and I wanted to break off from other writers tendencies to just drop things in from the game into their stories. (oh here is a loner, look its bandits, oh no blood suckers and snorks, hope i dont get sucked into an anomaly).
The entire theme and style that I'm going for is based off the ZONA art pieces by Alex Andreyev, which a lot of you probably recognize:
[t]http://orig06.deviantart.net/68ed/f/2014/198/b/b/zona__08__by_alexandreev-d7r1iy5.jpg[/t]
The story itself is based around a group of Stalkers discovering knowledge of a strange artifact somewhere in the center of the Zone, and they embark on an expedition to Pripyat to find it as Strelok stops the mind controller and the rush to the center begins (where you fight through every faction in the game pushing into Pripyat). Through it, the group faces other stalkers, the military, the factions and their morals, strange mutants, stranger anomalies, each other, and the Zone itself as they go into the most dangerous part of the Zone.
Matheus Graef was kind enough to paint the cover for me, which depicts some of the characters, and is also meant to convey the style of the story:

Anyway figured I'd try and drum up some hype. Hope some of you end up reading and enjoying it. It's going to pretty much be my farewell to Fanfiction writing, as I think it's time to move on to more mature and profitable things with my skills, but I always wanted to write an actual concise STALKER novel like the ones I always wish they made.
For Alun or anyone else who could possibly answer this question;
Is it possible to have different classes of ammo with different hit_explosion particles and if yes, how, if no, how could I make a new class that would allow for such a change?
The reason is: I am getting finally back into my particle work after a 6 month block. I want to try out loads of stuff, but I am finding myself constantly changing the explosion particles to test them out ingame (I could spawn the particle, but I want to try them in real-world gunfights and see how much of a performance hit they are).
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

This is cool Alun:

It's nice to see a bigger bunker. I always thought it was weird how small the Yantar bunker was.
So is there a way out of the jupiter underground in COC? I came in through the outskirts and now i can't find the way out. Any help?

That's a good call. A lot of STALKER media ends up feeling way too gamey by constantly namedropping from the games. With the weird nature of the Zone you could make up pretty much any kind of mutant/anomaly you want, why not have fun with it? It could be a whole lot creepier than a bunch of mutated pigs or the now over-hyped bloodsucker.

I've only ever seen one single decent Stalker fic in my life so you've got a very steep hill to climb. Good luck.
Might I suggest posting it over on the creative writing section of Spacebattles? A lot of scifi fanfic there.
What was that 'official' stalker fanfic that (I think) had the ugly as fuck drawings and the double zone thing going on?
The only STALKER fanfictions I accept were Green's fanfics
They really helped me get immersed

Exactly, everyone just wants to write out their cool scenarios from the games, which is fine, but it honestly gets dry.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've only ever posted on Fanfiction.net which is like drops into the ocean. Even if it was the best thing ever written it'd still be overshadowed by weird My Little Pony / Star Wars crossover fanfiction or whatever. If anyone else knows any good sites then please let me know.
Has anyone made a CS/CoP-style outfit-based artifact slots mod for SoC yet?
not as far as I know, although I think a few of the more Russian mods (secret trails?) have implemented a sort of tactical vest slot functionality
Wouldn't it rather be the other way around? Long time stalkers would probably be the dirtiest people in the zone, while all the newcomers probably picked up mostly clean, and often new gear & stuff before entering the zone?
Yeap, but they're mercenaries. I guess he must have thought "ok, so the master guys have a lot of cash in their accounts and can manage to buy the last stuff and have it brought to them while the newcomers must stick around with their equipment for a while"

If those are the guys who made FOTOGRAF then it wasn't that mod. I think Joint Pak or Solyanka had it. Like, you double clicked on a "vest" icon on the inventory and a vest would come up and allow you to place mags and stuff on it.
Does the lootmoney mod work with Call of Misery?
I'm getting some sort of stack trace error about level graphs.

At first I thought it was Warfare, but I got newest download and it still gives me issues.
I'm still messing around with my mod set but if anyone has an idea?

Are you trying to load an old save? Did you accidentally replace the all.spawn with something else?

Only doing new game. From what I know all.spawn hasn't been corrupted or deleted

Just installed it. It looks like it's working as intended as far as the bodies giving money, but I don't think I'm actually receiving the money and having it added to my total. So I'll see "Found 500 rubles" or whatever, but my total money in my inventory won't go up. What would cause this?
EDIT: Found a pack that fixed it. Installed something else on top and it all broke anyway. Modding STALKER is a pain in the ass sometimes.

There's a version of the lootmoney script for CoM in this mini mod that makes weapon and ammo drops a function of npc rank: http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-com/addons/any-useful-thing-is-mine

Yeah, I just saw that one and it seemed interesting. I wonder how balanced it is. It does get annoying to only find almost broken guns and 2 bullets on each guy sometimes.
There's another pack in the /vg/ STALKER thread one guy made that just makes the gun drop conditions random, so you might find an almost perfect condition gun or a broken one or in between.

Vanilla CoM drops the odd weapon with upgrades already present and addons equipped. I tend to hang onto these for later repair. STCoM is more stingy and doesn't drop weapons with upgrades that I have seen.

Stalkers develop an electromagnetic field around their clothes as they become more and more experienced in the Zone. Hard for dirt, mud and blood to cling to your duds with that going on.
Offline A-Life? Oh nevermind. I read the notes underneath.

Yay!
When CoC was first developed by Bangalore he came to me to help him with a serious problem. All these maps with all this alife in vanilla game were running at nearly 4-10 FPS. This was unplayable. I had to redesign several scripts. It was playable again but wasn't perfect and FPS was not stable, so I decided to limit the amount of actions offline objects do. Offline alife by default was only able to move around only in the current level and neighboring levels.
But now I can barely see a difference in performance in limiting offline alife after this recent change.

Along with the Yantar bunker upgrade, 2C.LiryC added "secret" rooms to Pripyat Outskirts. One of them makes a nice new comfy place to call home.
Toward the end of the video, I reveal that I have all offline alife active at a time, when previously only alife on neighboring levels was active due to performance reasons. I have reasonable FPS and I do not own a super computer or even a SSD.

Any way to make it behave like vanilla CoM?

All we can do is hope. That last thing I can recall from the team was that they were doing a pseudo internal beta with Russian players or something like that? ( Not to mention the map and model update)
didnt they release some multiplayer footage just recently?
