Look at that man, there's nothing diet about his sausage :v:
Been thinking of getting another round of STALKERing started.
Is CoC the mod (well...) to play? Last thing I played was AMK and I really liked it.

AMK + Autumn Aurora is one of my favorite mods if you want to play SHOC

For ShoC - Amnesia
Golden Ball is pretty neat
NS2016 is best solyanka playable for sane people without much stress.
For CoCh there is Call of Misery and Last Day, latest if just a modpack for CoM with own addons and tweaks. I would recommend Legend's Return but f**k me these spawns are worst thing since soylent green diet sausage.
Bonus shots for Cordon and Pripyat. Shame it gets so glitchy the more you zoom out.

I'm not sure if it's nostalgia dimming my vision but I'm getting the distinct feeling CoP/CoC looks objectively worse graphically. The colors seem a bit washed and low in contrast out compared to CS/ShoC, it definitely looks less "gritty". The game doesn't seem overly bright overall, the nights are still pitch-dark.
Could it be some shader mod that I forgot about or are my image settings out of whack? Or am I just imagining things?

You're probably used to seeing SoC with mods.
CS is easily the best looking game out of the three but it's also the one with the worst gameplay and the shittest performance.
I have no proof but I always felt textures were lower res in CoP compared to the previous two. I'm pretty sure it was discussed here when everyone was playing the Google translated adjustable buttcheeks version.

It was the ground textures mostly, they stood out quite a lot with an ugly brownish/sandy looking texture where it doesn't really make sense.
yeah, the ground and especially mud/sand textures were the stuff I was thinking of.

That might be it, yeah. Shame, I really liked having the overly stark visuals (of the gritty flavor rather than over-saturated HDR kind).
Don't suppose there are any visual mods known to work with CoC? Readme says only texture mods are likely to work.

Try these:

You mean the best looking, and the best gameplay.
CS isnt that bad. When it was released it got really bad reviews regarding optimization, because it was horrible, but with 1.5.10 version and more recent hardware its playable just like CoP. But sadly today people repeat that opinion without even playing it.
Its still not perfect, and because swamp map even on good hardware you can get hiccups(cs base is so bad optimized that you could write book about it), but after you run away from it, game is pretty good with nice atmosphere and gameplay. It have lots of details regarding stalker story lots of characters and as far as you dont play in DX10 you will get less crashes than playing any stalker mod like Misery, Last Day or Soljanka.
Eh, Clear Sky 1.5.10 still has an awful lot of bugs and unintended behavior. The Faction Wars system in particular often leads to script crashes or just outright unintended behavior (like the infamous defense missions that never go away).
That's what SRP is for!
My biggest issue with CS is that it turns into a linear rush in the last quarter of the game, but you can say the same for SoC really.
Only part i really liked was the battle through Limansk, which is then thoroughly halted at the Construction Site as a storm of grenades come from everywhere

Thanks! I'll give the second one a spin first, I think you may have hit the nail on the head with the weather settings...

Well, try both. One is a texture pack and one is a weather mod.
In fact, Two-K is made by paranoiia!

Limansk was a really cool area that's just squandered, sadly. I love the bit with the spatial anomalies in the canal though, that's cool as fuck.
am I meant to go straight to the agroprom building to steal the docs after clearing Strelok's stash in SoC ?
This has been the most tedious part of the game thus far, I'm either getting overwhelmed by the military or I'm just camping some shitty staircase taking them out one by one
I did [sp]raid them past 22:00[/sp]

I think so, yeah. It's the best opportunity to do so anyway since you can pop up there from the tunnels. The contents of the stash should help. Entering the building without alerting everyone is next to impossible, but once you have the documents you can make a pretty sneaky exit [sp]using the fire ladder from the rooftop and the convenient hole in the wall nearby[/sp].

being the idiot I am [sp]I did not spot the fire ladder, but I did make a mad dash for the hole in the wall I spotted earlier[/sp]
Honestly I find it a less tedious and fun to get out of the Underground and sprint through the back entrance of the military base, go Rambo on the soldiers along the way, grab the case, and do the same thing on the exit out.

The gameplay is ass, I love the faction warfare idea but it's just so buggy and the gunplay is so terrible because for some reason Ai become invulnerable while doing their stupid combat animations
So Im planning on going to Eastern Europe around June 2018, and one of my destinations are Pripyat and the CNPP. Im going to save up for a decent DSLR with a wide angle lens so I can capture some of those sweet sweet pictures.

I know its super weird, but I would love to get some closeup architecture pics from there to use them as textures(walls, windows, concrete elements etc) :rollout:
That area have some one of the kind elements and its damn hard to get anything similar to it from other sources.
Hell, Im from Poland where you still can find small old soviet buildings and I visited few old military places, like for example, abandoned military garrison/city "Kłomino" that sadly was almost entirely demolished so you cant get from there anything interesting. :/
Of course there are lots of images ready to be used as textures, but in Stalker Two-K im using only free source images to not deal later with some copyrights crap, so I cant just pick what I want. :[
