Was amused by how [sp]you can cheat the bandit ambush at the garbage in Clear Sky by dropping all your gear beforehand[/sp] - didn't think it would work
Also, shout out to the anon posting about this thread
They [sp]still take all your money without a possibility to return it[/sp] so it's kinda sad
Not enough meme videos.[sp]How can Araknid even compete[/sp]

What a memeish masterpiece.

it does really make you wonder what the devs were thinking(/drinking) at times with CS

Questionable design decisions is just part of the magic of stalker :v:

You do get some fat stacks right after. I didn't have too much on me thankfully

new LA DC patch, and apparently STCoP is coming for LADC shortly as well.
I wonder if i should finally actually play the thing, seeing as how I'm stalker starved right now and it's gonna be getting a decent weapon set. I hear the story is still unchanged from its 8yo fanfic trash but if the maps are actually populated as they say I can deal with it.

Fuckin' finally!
I still haven't finished a playthrough of LA since the initial release..when I was on a laptop. I got the true beta experience! Static lighting, low settings, and never went above 24 FPS.

...Huh. they reorganized the gamedata layout entirely.

That's in the actual gamedata folder. Weird.

It's funny, I have 20-something medkits, hundreds of bullets for each of my guns, and I'm still running out of bandages

the sole reason i got a couple of goldfish artifacts was so I could just dump my inventory full of bandages and forget about the weight it gives, because any time I'd go out in the zone, I'd easily eat 30 bandages and find 35 after a simple raid
in cop and soc i always took 10, nothing more nothing less, and here is cs where you'll need all the bandages in the world and then some

I forgot what it was you could buy, but there was some stupid item that had good resell value that you could basically invest in beforehand, dump it with your gear, then resell after the fact for a small net loss. Better than losing all of the money.

Oh god is it me or is the default FoV much lower in CoP?
Oh god is it me or is the default FoV much lower in CoP?
It is. SoC is 67.5, CoP is like 55 or something asinine like that.

I think CoP FOV matches up with pre-patch ShoC FOV.

I'm not sure, been a while since I've touched SoC with a patch version before 1.0004 :v:
every time i try to use medkit on someones elses inventory it crashes my game cant it be fixed?

Not as far as I know. You should take it from their inventory first, then use it - same applies with bandages, food and vodka too iirc
holy shit call of misery is the single least amount of fun i have ever had doing anything
i've had more fun in the DMV for 2 hours than i have in CoM
spawn in Zaton as merc, start descending into the valley, a few minutes later im down to half health from water radiation
reload first save, start off towards the gas station, get jumped by chimera
reload save, descend into valley avoiding water; see a pair of pseudogiants wandering around. I sigh and start stealthing to avoid them....
gets jumped by another chimera
Say "fuck this" and try to go to Jupiter
gets jumped by 4 bloodsuckers after i spend no more than 30 frames in water, which naturally about 3 minutes later has taken 10% of my health. I literally cannot progress or doing anything under that save.
I decide to try a new save, spawning somewhere easier, end up spawning into The Garbage.
Snorks towards the road to Cordon. A fucking controller, somehow, towards the road to bar. A swarm of fleshes and boars towards Agroprom. I really don't recall the original Misery, which i actually kind of liked, being that bad. Suffice to say I uninstalled it immediately.

This is kind of how I felt, too, unfortunately.
CoM/Last Day have a lot of cool features but I really can't stand the 'misery' difficulty. It's not fun for me. :(
in my experience thats just kind if how zaton and jupiter are in normal coc
if at all possible i would recommend starting further south

at least as far as mutant spawns go

I said in my post that i tried Garbage spawn and it was still just as bad. Also i would disagree, 2 chimeras and 2 pseudogiants as roaming mutants in zaton aren't something i've ever seen in CoC.
I like those sort of encounters though. My fondest memory from the series was when I got jumped during an emission in SGM and got caught under the spawn of like five groups of mutants.

No i don't really think you're grasping this.
I literally could not progress, because i had starter weapons against legendary mutants/hordes of 10 mutants or more within the first 5 minutes of starting the game. In every single direction i went, regardless of where i started the game, i was unable to go anywhere or do anything.
A sawed off TOZ and a PMm won't kill a controller that's halfway across the map that's still hitting you with it's control, nor will it stop 6 snorks from pushing your shit in, nor will it kill 6 fleshes and 5 boars all rushing you at once AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE GAME.
A UMP45 and a PB won't kill a single pseudogiant or chimera before they eviscerate you, let alone two of them, nor can it kill 4 bloodsuckers all at once.
I LOVE the moments you described.... when i actually have equipment beyond a double barrel shotgun, a PMm, and a leather jacket, with no anti-rad or medical supplies whatsoever.
Get a damage modifier mod and it doesn’t matter how bad your weapons are
MISERY had triggers, though. e.g.
-guarding a story objective, you find a controller and two poltergeists with massive fuckoff psi-fields and instant-kill "brain-fuck" attacks.
-completing a story objective spawned 4 bloodsuckers that guarded the exit.
THAT appears to be the devs giving the players the finger with no real intent other than the grief them.

I attempted doing lab x-16 in call of misery. Which is mod on top of misery but im sure most of the triggers carried over from the original misery.
And fuck, lugging an inventory full of supplies inside- And having spent it after the first three rooms gets old REAL fast. And that's not even mentioning the fucking constant swarms of snorks. That one fucking burer, and that final controller- And when you're FINALLY out in the tunnel system, Yeah, run from a psuedogiant with no stamina and a sliver of health, have fun.
The stress probably cost me a couple years from my lifespan.
Oh aye.. I'm not proud to admit it, but I turned down any psi-related damage/range/effect down to 1%, because really what the fuck.
But even, as I recall in the latest misery patch, a pseudo-giant can be felled by a claymore mine and maybe 1 regular grenade. CoM sounds like absolute heartache.

If the solution to a mod being fuckoff difficult is to remove everything that makes it difficult, maybe the mod isn't actually "difficult", just impossibly unbalanced against the player artificially. If that's the case, maybe the mod isn't worth playing at all.
