Well, that save file got messed up due to me effing up somewhere, so I started a new save. It got even worse. Not only did Wolf die, but literally everybody else from the original population. Why, you ask? Several military patrols, probably led to the town by the prior trail of corpses. It quieted down after a while, so now there's a pile of corpses (made from both Stalkers (and Wolf, RIP again) and military personnel) next to the campfire after I dragged all the bodies there, and a whole lot more rubles in my wallet from selling all the excess guns. Such is life in the zone alright :v:
[sp]If you attack the military patrol or the base, they send a force to wipe out the rookie camp[/sp] RIP

And even if you manage somehow to run away, they will snipe you instantly... Recently I was playing mod "Hybrid"(really nice CoC based mod) that have really cool AI/faction settings but because some configuration bugs military there is like 24/7 SWAT service that raid everything and everyone in the speed of light, sending even 4 squads in to the enemy base and before even entering it they wipe everyone with those grenades... In less than hour they can clean whole Cordon. Its seriously amazing experience watching it from demo mode, where they just do most realistic and Russian thing you can experience in game: Enter building/zone, do the job by killing everything that is moving, and then sit near the campfire and drink vodka...
[sp]If you attack the military patrol or the base, they send a force to wipe out the rookie camp[/sp] RIP
Yeah, I used to use them for early guns, but I leave them alone now until I'm strong enough to defend after. It's not worth the cost. :( I finally read Roadside Picnic, it was actually better than I was expecting. Definitely got weird in the last quarter of the book or so, but overall a good read.
I read RP a few years back, thought it was excellent. I'm pretty bummed they canned the show that was going to come out([sp]Even though it had some stuff in it that went against the book entirely, such as the suits not being red, there being no hoverboots(At least shown), and the empty's being able to repel bullets[/sp])
This might be a bit of a blast from the past, but does anyone know if that Snorkbait story eventually was finished?
So with CoC, does anyone know why it goes up to 100% CPU usage during blowouts, Psi storm and when touching certain anomalies? It does it every time for no reason I can figure out. Normal CoP doesn't have that issue, and no other CoP mod gets the issue, it's just CoC. It happens no matter what settings I use. Google doesn't turn up anything either.
Could someone give me some advice? I've converted a Ninja_nub .ogf into a .object so I can try to port it into Lost Alpha. Using the LA Actor Editor, I linked the tolstyak_animation.skls (from the omf that comes with the pack) to the model and appended the ogf's .bones to the model with no problem. But when I try to render the model in the engine, I get an error that leads to a crash. Here's the error: ..Export Skeleton motions defs !Can't find bone: * * !Can't load 'c:\user\x\meshes\actors\stalker_neutral\stalker_neutral_0.ogf' invalid bones count I know the bone count is picky in SoC (though I don't know to what extent) but I'm lost

If it really hit your cpu and lag often you can try trick with cpu affinity: Just open Task manager after starting game, go to "details" tab and right-click on xrEngine.exe and from list select "affinity" and unselect CPU0. You can do shortcut for that, just make bat file in CoC folder, and copy this to it: (for 4 cores cpu) cmd.exe /C start /high /affinity 0x0e Stalker-CoC.exe (for 8 core cpu) cmd.exe /C start /high /affinity 0x0fe Stalker-CoC.exe And use it to start game. Stalker is one of that game that really butcher First core of CPU, by disabling it you force it to use other cores, and overall it lower CPU usage and really slightly bump performances.

Between SOC and CS/COP, they changed the number of bones. I think there's a converter that fixes models to SOC's format. Check out Alundaio's AXR Toolset, I think there was something about it in one of the options. That toolset is also useful to change the the textures and animations lists without having to mess around with the converter and the SDK.
Thank you for the insight MrSeyker, I didn't realize how much I needed that toolset until now, I couldn't find any information about converting Back to SoC however, so I did a little deep diving and found this tutorial which is perfect: http://www.mediafire.com/file/5zz9mn2f5a9mz5n/Convert+Stalker+models+between+SOC-CS-COP_eng.doc progress feels so good
So I got back into Call of Chernobyl for a bit. Great mod despite its stability issues, but I got really sick of the default weapons, so I installed AO3. Now I'm getting the dreaded OUT OF MEMORY crashes left and right when loading new levels. When it does work it works fine, but 80% of the time it'll crash on the load screen. Are there any fixes for CoC's version of X-Ray that make it less of a memory whore? I've been lowering the settings here and there and closing all background programs and it's helping somewhat, but I'm getting to a point where I feel like at this rate I'll be playing the game on its lowest settings, kind of defeating some of the purpose of a weapon overhaul mod. It's V1.4, is there a new version that's more stable? I know I have enough RAM, that can't be the issue.
You can have even 32GB of ram it doesnt matter it will never get more than 3.5GB. Lowering most of quality settings also doesnt fix OOM crashes because they have nothing to do with it. They can fix lags but beside texture quality rest of setting doesnt affect really memory consumption. And trust me I spend lots of time playing with every setting when Im testing my mod, and Im playing for most of time on laptop that is not really king of performance and it never give me too much OOM crashes. All what matter is speed of your RAM, GPU and its VRAM. Not to mention that most important is quality of mod it self, if it bad made it will crash game often. Personally Im not a fan of AO3 because even if its single mod installed on CoC it will crash very often, so its say something about its optimization. That why I would suggest switching to STCoP, maybe its not best but at least it will work. Last thing: Remember to do defragmentation of stalker folder after installing big mods. Stalker is really depending on HDD so if it have problem with loading content it will start shuttering and sooner or later it will crash because of that. As for setting game up, best way is to keep balance is to set lower resolution(1080p is really max) but bump rest of the setting up. Its really better to have all fx stuff on, but play in lower res, because big resolution = more to render = more chance to crash/lag

I just really like AO3's weapon models and selection of weapons. SVT-40's, Mosin Nagants, etc. It does seem to add a good bit of instability to the game, though. It runs at a stable 60FPS at all times but it crashes a lot more often with it installed. Anyway, your CPU work around that you posted earlier actually helped a lot somehow. I managed to play for over an hour before it finally crashed after opening it with the .bat file that disables core 0. Plus it no longer crashes whenever I try to load a new level. So yeah, I appreciate it.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/LTfti76.jpg[/t] I actually had a hard time trying to figure out which thread to post this in. [sp]It wasn't very good, but there was an attempt. Solid like 15+ poorly balanced levels and a weird mix of weapons. Pretty Russian/StalkerSOUP if it was in Doom. http://i.iddqd.ru/viewtopic.php?t=1003[/sp]

As I said I play mostly on laptop and even if I have nice i7 cpu in it I spend MASSIVE amount of time with every game to make it look good and in the same run fast without burning my hardware(because I actually and literally fried my previous laptop with nice "tzzzzztzz" sound and smoke -_-) PS. So I've been playing SoC for about 6 hours now roughly. I helped a scientist keep a flash drive from some Mercs. I've just been running between the starting area, Garbage and Wild Territory finding stashes. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing but I'm having a blast. Is it normal to be lost early in the game like this or is there something critical I'm missing?

If you grabbed flashdrive from scientist then you got to bring it to the bunker on Yantar and do some tasks to receive special equipment. You figure it out.
After some more time in CoC I've learned that Monolith's standard issue close combat rifle is the RPG-7

I wasn't sure what I was doing but I just kept walking foward and ended up far enough in the story that Blowouts were introduced. Quick question about something story related: I'm using the ZRP and it added a sleeping bag. I couldn't find anywhere to sleep in the main game, so I didn't think it would be bad to use the bag, but I ended up having a dream of Marked One shooting stuff, did I sequence break something? Overall I'm just really enjoying walking around the Zone and meeting people. I'm pretty nervous for the later game when different factions start asking me favors, I'm always indecisive like that, but from what I gathered playing, Duty and Freedom aren't that bad but I can understand the scientists goal as well. Sorry for being a literal decade late I'm just really excited to finally be playing this game.
Don't think you broke anything. The sleeping bag will sometimes cause you to see the mysterious cut scenes. You'll probably just get to see it again later as you progress with the story.

Running it through that .bat file seemed to fix it, though, so whatever, I'll take it. It seems like it crashes about as much as it did without any mods, now. I'm running DDR3 RAM, Radeon R9 380 GPU, AMD FX 3850 CPU and it's on a fairly new 2TB hard drive. Maybe it would work better if I moved it over to my SSD?

I actually bought long time ago cheap as hell(about 30 bucks) 64GB SSD that I actually plug to usb 3 port and still get better r/w speed than on my main HDD. Im not a person who have 10000 game installed on my PC so Im fine to keep two/three on it and play when I want. And there is HUGE difference between loading speed and shuttering compared to normal drive. In Stalker of course it will not fix crashes, but after all those years I found out that Stalker is one of that game that is really depending on drive and if it load everything fast enough(especially sounds an AI that are main reasons why stalker shutter) it dont crash so often. As for patches, you can sometimes find them online: [t]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/HrAAAOSwEEBaB0pZ/s-l500.jpg[/t] https://www.ebay.com/itm/STALKER-MONOLIT-PATCH/112637883414?hash=item1a39bdb416:g:HrAAAOSwEEBaB0pZ http://russianpatchesworld.com/catalog/airsoft_patches/stalker_game_monolith_grouping_patch_4/ https://www.ebay.com/itm/S-T-A-L-K-E-R-STALKER-Factions-Monolith-patch-Clear-Shadow-Chernobyl-Sky-/301880565353?_ul=MX https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=node%3D12899371&field-keywords=stalker Also if you really want one, you can always go to any sewing shop give them project and example and they will make one for you. Few years ago my friend bought bunch of such patches for his climbing club and they didnt had problem with making such patches. It will cost more but it should be still less than 15-20 bucks
The sneaky-breeki patch shall soon be mine!

Especially with some of the options you've listed. And getting it "made," you might end up with a crappy die cut woven, or worse, printed patch.
I died in Azazel Mode in CoC and woke up as an exo'd Monolith Commander about to assault and slaughter a Bandit camp. We routed the heretical dogs and erected a mighty Monolith on their grave-site.
