Where can I get Doom's Mod Merge for CoP? I'm playing Mod Merge 2015 (not Anon's Edition) and it honestly doesn't feel the same. I don't recall Doom's CoP Merge having new anomalies or using new weapon textures, and the sound when you open your inventory is different, too.

Yep, that one. It's my personal comfy mod, managing the inventory on Skadovsk while listening to the swamp's sounds, all while surrounded by thick fog is the best.

I also tried to compress all sounds to just 16-32kbps but I realize that... there is no real difference not only in size but also in quality -_-
As for models If you set lowest setting in ""Objects Detail"" it look really low-poly so I dont think there is need to go lower than 1000 polygon models.
I actually had in mind creating for April 1 "8-bit Stalker Mod" as a Joke with crappy 8-bit sounds, NES music, more pixelated graphic and replace all NPC models with simplified blocks without animations(so they would just slide on map like bricks on ice). But I realize that it was just too much work, especially when I still work on Stalker Two-k that lately forced me to remake lots of bumpmaps that dont look right :/
And for playing on crappy laptop? I have 10inch Netbook with Intel atom N570 and 1GB of RAM, and I never had problem with playing stalker at lowest settings. True that I never had more than 20-25FPS but it was playable for most of time, so such extreme low size textures dont make any difference. I thing only replacing grass with blank textures would help, rest can be done with just graphic setting in game.
lol, playing through Call of Pripyat again with Doom's CoP Merge. I forgot how fun and unforgiving the X-Ray engine is. I set my cam_inert to 0.7 to get a slight camera smooth but if something manages to hit me the view would spazz out like crazy.
Also the quest The Hit, I forgot about it until the game told me that the quest had been cancelled, then I reloaded the save and quickly rushed back to Skadovsk to speak with Knuckles. Told him that I'll tag along with him and then the game sent me straight to the rear of Shevchenko [I]and a few extra Fleshes[/I] (thanks MSO). Then all Knuckles's squad would not sneak inside the ship, but rather aimed at something in the distance (it was too dark to see anything). While I was waiting for Knuckle's squad to calm down and proceed with the mission, the game cancelled the quest, again.
At this point I was suspecting that something was not right, so I reloaded a quick save, after agreeing to join the robbers, I didn't tag along with Knuckles but I ran straight to Chevchenko to check, and oh my lord..

The residents of Chevchenko have been slaughtered.. but by whom? I was super curious and went to the upper deck then I saw this:

Spartacus and this squad have been killed, by the zombies that I spared at the Sawmill (oops). But then, I heard gunshots, from the bridge, I ran up and saw this guy, all alone, might the last of the survivors at Chevchenko..

But still, he was shooting at something, so I looked towards that direction and saw this:

[B]At least eleven[/B] of them are coming for this sole guy. And not to mention, after finding out the fate of Spartacus, I saw a zombie walking up the stairs to take out this lone guy.
In the end, he didn't survive, sadly. So now with the residents of Chevchenko entirely wiped out and Spactacus gone, the game thinks that I was really siding with Knuckles (and also cancelled The Hit, again). :v: :v:
Okay lads, its been a year and half since I've played me some STALKER and I want to get back in. After I reinstall this bad boy what hot mods (new and old) should I slap on this bad boy. I forgot all the shit I had installed last time I played. Is the pic in the OP still relevant?

So, how do I fix the see-through stripe on the side of vanilla scope overlays? Im doing a vanilla playthrough & its driving me insane. Its like a pixel wide stripe on the right hand side of the overlay, as if its misaligned or something. Thanks in advance.
What version? CoP? SoC? CS?
Normally I would suggest to just replace scopes with open scopes, but if you insist to keep them default, you can go to gamedata\configs\ui\scopes_16.xml (if you have extracted files there) and edit vaules at:

Tweaked the folder that handles the average stalker's behavior, and messed with their FOV, line of sight, and a few other values and managed to make stealth much more feasible.
Now I'm just running around the zone with silenced weapons going for headshots only

In this case its really better to use open scopes or edited ones(those are for default CoP guns):

I feel like getting into Call of Chernobyl some nearby day. It did wonder for my upper body when I used all the loading screens for push-ups.

Also I upgraded my CPU from 2.80 GHz to 3.50 GHz and RAM from 8 Gb to 16 Gb.
So having the A-life fully active might be in the realm of possibilities this time.
Nah RAM upgrade is useless in my opinion, even modern games never take more than 5-6GB :/ More is good just for media work.
It would be better to get Graphic Card with nice amount of VRAM and nice speed.
As for A-Life problems, CPU upgrade is best but I found out that for most of time good way to deal with it is to set High Priority for XrayEngine in Task Manager.
PS. Only Im really pissed off that all Weapons mods dont do more realistic gun jamming system, where you just extract failed round and put another one using charging handle(one fast movement), not remove whole mag? Because removing mag dont do anything if gun fail to extract or dont go full battery(bolt stuck). You need to just ram that handle with hand if it stuck.

Luckily I work with games, so running GIMP and Blender (sometimes also Unity) at the same time means that RAM was a good investment :D

Last time I tried active A-life in CoC I was met with each new character I created getting the same quests and the same NPC's being in the same places. Anyone know what's up with that?
On the topic of weapon jamming. I had an idea for my ~dream project~ FPS where your weapons jam due to A sustaining damage and B residue (shooting + suppressors causes more residue buildup). Weapons can have minor jams that get cleared in the style of Far Cry 2 (tapping R) and major jams that require manually unloading the weapon .(holding R).
Same unloading mechanic would be used for extracting ammo from weapons lying on the ground.

Use containers for storage, their contents stay even if you find stash coordinates to them.
Blue boxes, toolboxes, backpacks, crosses, pipes and everything else will do. Just remember where you left your stuff.

I have long accepted the crashes as one of the game's features, but here's the crashlog if you want. (also I play it just because I love it, the mod has this really nice combination of different things that I found really fitting and comfy to play around)

I actually got into Misery 2.2. I just figured out that if you never buy food and hunt for stashes like crazy (which always have something to eat) I can actually spend it on gear and weapons. Though it still stutters like a bitch. Would putting it on my SSD help?

Especially xrs_facer, that script I have long since forgotten what it does, but I know that the only thing it has to do with atmosfear is that it doesn't carry out its function during a blowout.

I had been playing through lost alpha for a while and enjoying it quite a bit until I started hitting constant crashes when I got anywhere near the [sp] Freedom[/sp] base in the Outskirts. I decided I'd head back to CoC to mess around while I waited for a patch or someone to find a fix in LA.
I paid a visit to Darkscape and I had forgotten how empty it was in CoC vs LA. I started heading to all of the other maps to see just how different they were between CoC and LA and it was really neat seeing how parts of levels were shuffled around or used in completely different maps between versions.
Things like the underground tunnels in Cordon and the Agroprom underground being a seamless part of the map were really neat to explore and I missed them in CoC.

xrs_facer is actually an NPC melee script if I recall correctly, from xstream's AI pack
