It's impressive how long people can believe a falsehood despite evidence to the contrary, though - I know I certainly thought it was true for a long time (without testing it!)
Also its impressive and sad that even modern games still F up silencers in games. Starting from how they behave and how they impact on bullet performances ending in how they sound... The same with gun jamming that I write about few post earlier. Because in real life if gun jam, or fail to extract case you just need to move charging handle(one fast movement), not removing whole damn mag that take ages... Or helmets. Most helmets even those modern aren't really "bulletproof", even 9mm can penetrate it if its direct hit. Helmets are for protecting head from knocks and falls and protect you from shrapnel and ricochets. I think only heavy specialized ballistic helmets and those new "ECH" and "UHMWPE"(they should really make some codename for it...) have chance to stop eg 5.56 bullet. Or sticking more to actual Stalker: Exo armor... for god sake people should stop treating it as a some sort of a tank! Its literally massive amount of servos, pipes and cable on top of heavy military combat suit. Beside helping you with carrying stuff, it should not have any better protection than military suit its based on. Not to mention that any bullet in one of servomotors or cable would probably immobilize you instantly. About walking on electro anomaly I will not even mention(I would not be surprised, if zone and exo would be real, people would call them "KFC", because they would literally fry you crisp...) About damages Im not even gonna mention... it should be always 1:1 for NPC and player, all damage stats the same. Difficulty should be based on hit probability(aim) and actual intelligence of NPC, not Misery style "lets make player anemic who barely can hold pistol during shoot, and bleed from finger cut."
I see your criticisms of the exoskeleton from a realism perspective, but personally I think fun gameplay (and having a reason to actually use the exoskeleton) are more important than simulating reality exactly - particularly in the base game. On top of that, with the constant protection of quicksaves, items need to have a strong effect to actually be worthwhile. If the exoskeleton is so vulnerable as to be useless, then player choice is diminished and thus the player has fewer tools with which to solve problems (normally people shooting at you, I admit), which makes gameplay less rich and varied.
I think exoskeletons can be forgiven in a universe with space-time continuum breaking anomalies.
I think exoskeletons can be forgiven in a universe with space-time continuum breaking anomalies.
Well yeah, its just a game, but eve if we take in to the account zone, its anomalies and weirdness, 90% of things is still realistic, so if you keep them realistic... do it properly. Whole weapon/armor stuff is kept realistic in Stalker. For example if we going to full Si-Fi, why no one use bunch of gravity related artifacts to... fly? Or why no one use special made bullets made from artifacts. Beside its not like gauss is only way to use it. you can do bullet with parts of eg radioactive or poison parts of artifacts that will be almost impossible to cure. You can also use such artifacts to make almost recoil-less weapons. Why not experiment more with anomalies and throw in them random stuff like armors or weapons and, god know, maybe you can create some amazing things(like eg few special armors from SoC). Why military dont use high altitude bombers to get rid of stalkers/ monolith? they can fly helicopters... Or energy, why no one use all those free energy to create electricity, even in real life we experiment with that. Or why there is no mutated plants that would cure any sickness or give some amazing properties to your body. Its like zone mutated just few animals? What those lazy Scientist do all day??? Or why no one ride Flesh??? Just imagine special bread of Flesh that you can ride like a horse! :D
well, ultimately because if Stalker went full sci-fi it'd be a completely different game with a completely different feel to it. the zone is defined by danger, mystery and unpredictability. if the scologists can rock up and start strapping gravi to boots to make hover-shoes it breaks the entire ambience [editline]1st February 2018[/editline] I liked the 'rationalised' artifacts in CS/CoP, but in my book artifacts should be as strange and unpredictable as the Zone, and no-one should be walking around with a bunch of -Rad artifacts that render them immune to one of the greatest threats of the zone [editline]1st February 2018[/editline]
[t]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/930426171079560934/8A1338D02355DC3FCADE234321C45D58CB0232AE/[/t] hey that's pretty good too bad i can't seem to find any special variant of this
you don't really need one, tbh. there's some ammo for it directly above it in the roof. I suspect the weapon was meant to spawn up there too
I love how you stripped apart funny comment in to the small parts, analyze it and do actual research about riding a flesh :class: As for throwing stuff to anomaly... who said it will be your armor :]

It's so good for exactly my playing style, but it looks and feels like I'm shooting a super soaker. I didn't find ammo isn't a massive issue since the Tunder is common in the areas where the Vintar is the most useful, but I despise how good it ist.

So it's technically possible to augment armor that way, it's just who the hell's gonna pull it out?
If I remember right, there was a rookie jacket that was tossed into a Fruit Punch in SoC. So it's technically possible to augment armor that way, it's just who the hell's gonna pull it out?
Poor rookie died in the anomaly while wearing it, even: http://stalker.wikia.com/wiki/Skinner_Anomaly I like to imagine the organic matter had some part in the process, sort of like with the Stone Blood artifact.
And SoC also had the Combat Chaser, which uses fragments of gravi artifacts to mess with the muzzle velocity of the shot. The concept is there, its CS/COP that basically did away with the fantastical elements and exchanged them with nothing. Same with artifacts. They were a lot more interesting in SOC, before CS/COP simplified them. Also, you can't really complain about the Exo being unique in its protective properties, not only is it padded as fuck with plates, it's literally a type of armor that is not available without the frame (except for some random npcs in CS/COP), so you can't say that it shouldn't have those beefy stats.
Getting this error in CoP's Mod Merge 2015. It happens after finishing the Duty Warehouse quest (Duty vs. Freedom shootout).
Expression : l_tpALifeInventoryItem Function : add_online_impl File : D:\prog_repository\sources\trunk\xrGame\alife_trader_abstract.cpp Line : 172 Description : Non inventory item object has parent?!
I suppose something went wrong with Jupiter's Trader when the game attempts to update his inventory since now I'm friend with Duty? Any idea how to fix this other than reloading the save and not handing Morgan's PDA to Lt. Col. Shulga?

>Bloodfuckers >Nope.gif [editline]2nd February 2018[/editline] Seriously though, I'd like to try more "flavorful" mods like this. I'm currently running vanilla CoC with a shader mod and I'm getting slightly bored. Haven't managed to explore anything north of warehouses, either.
Anyone have an absolutely incredible mod list(and order) for CoC 1.4.22?
AO3, W.A.R.F.I.G.H.T.E.R, Outfit addon, DoctorX Questlines, Warfare Nothing is more fun than fighting off monolith invasions as freedom
How does mod merging work with CoC? I'm encountering some crashes which I suspect might be related to DoctorX mods.
I've been trying out Last Day and boy oh boy, it sure isn't designed to be enjoyable. In 2 hours of playtime I haven't encountered a single bandage or a medkit, so I'm limping around with 20k roubles and not a single trader sells anything medical related. You can buy cuban cigars and weed though! Most food items also give you radiation poisoning, unless you find canned foods which require a swiss knife to open (no, your knife you carry around is apparently not sharp enough). I do appreciate the mutant skinning mechanics where you can field dress them with appropriate tools (even if you have to take your knife out for no reason) to get valuable and gross mutant parts to sell for decent profit. The amount of clutter items is also staggering, so many broken lamps, batteries etc. which serve no purpose at all. I just sold a random picture of a woman for 14 roubles, yippee. Going through trader's inventory is a hassle because of all these worthless tiny items. There's also lots of items related to fixing things up or making your own medicine(???) which seems like a weird goddamn mechanic to have when all you do is fiddle around in your inventory and some menus. And everything you have can in some weird way be used to clean out your weapons of fix gear, but using items such as water or some such opens up a menu that is undecipherable to a layman. Not that it seems to matter, because all the weapons I've found or I could afford at this point are labeled as worn and jam up constantly. And apparently your mechanic doesn't even know how to install a grenade launcher without giving him some schematics, which is really dumb considering they are a fucking mechanic. The lethality of weapons is nice, although there's some interesting recoil added to weapons which makes full auto fire almost useless though. It's built on top of Misery, which explains why there's no colours in the world other than brown, grey and their magnificent hues. What a clusterfuck of a mod, I'm not sure I can get any enjoyment out of this in the long run. I like the hobo phase in the beginning of all Stalker games but this is a bit too much.
Last Day does some neat stuff but I had to mod the absolute shit out of it to make it fun and it was a highly involved process to make CoC addons work with it.
I'd enjoy it if it had some sane prices for ammo, repairs and everyday items. And less hassle with all the ridiculous amount of new mechanics. Also, more colours in the colour pallette would be nice. As it stands now, it's a mess of MUH REALISM and feature overload.
I'm gonna give MLR 8.3 a try. It seems like it has most of the cool stuff that was in Last Day anyway with less of the Miserable garbage. :v: EDIT: holy fuck it uses the beta garbage and it merges cordon and darkscape neat!
Gotta love them ruskies Half the english mods are like "STALKER tools suck we out" while the russians are just like "we built this shit"
I played for a bit but quit because most of the new quests aren't translated yet and are just generic strings. It's pretty cool though.
guys i seriously have no clue what this is, but it's creeping me out 1st encountered this at Lake Yantar, it can't be the Controller, or is it?
Looks like a controller to me.
Yep it's a controller that's always in that area in the base game.
It's a controller. It's really creepy because they make practically no sound otherwise.
Yeah Last Day is not worth anyone's time, I spent another hour looking for medical items from traders and there is none. On my way to see if Sidorovich would have any, I happened upon a small radiation patch that I bypassed but that was enough to get my health down to raspy breathing and blurred vision mode. So basically I got shot once, got some radiationing poisoning and that's a hard game over right there. There's no way of recovering from that. If I wanted to play a roguelike, there's better games for that. This is just some ridiculous design.
But the zone is suffering and existance is pain and masochism is the way to live
If you want bs difficulty you're better off just playing one of the dozen nonsensical Slav mods
