yeah then when you die your game locks up and you can never play it again. ultrarealistic!
Haha, how did you put it in the box? I just made my FP today. [editline]11:39PM[/editline] I sincerely hope that was sarcasm
You started your own Facepunch then? Well, the Fire Emblem games are hard as balls (at least for me) just because you have a ton of dudes and when they get whacked, they're whacked for good. I wouldn't like to play a game where I could lose my customized, leveled-up, extension of myself FOREVER. Otherwise, it would definitely be fun for a while, but the best realistic game is the one that takes certain liberties with the facts.
Heyheyhey Everyone here should play IVAN. It's the perfect example of a roguelike, except without ASCIIi graphics.
I think it would be cool if they made a rouge-like fps. So basically you can do everything and such like in a rouge-like. And the best part, permadeath.
Slightly off topic, but could you recommend a good rouge-like?
Realism is either a) boring or b) incredibly frustrating. Either way, it takes away the very point of games: to be fun.
yeah then when you die your game locks up and you can never play it again. ultrarealistic!
Better - When you die it wipes your hard drive and you have to start fresh again! [editline]02:04AM[/editline] Oh, and realism = bad most of the time. Just look at GTA IV.
Stop looking at the limitations and consider the possibilities. Say you see a terrorist walk over a land mine...
There's good realism and there's annoying realism. That sounds like it'd just be incredibly hard and annoying.
Elona.
Eh, I like Ivan better. Elona just... Doesn't have the same charm, or whatever, as Ivan does. To me.
It would be fun with hyper realistic AI. Like shooting 1 shot in a crowd of hundreds and see them fucking panic and trample each other. Shit like that.
And realistic bone breaking and stuff... [editline]02:34AM[/editline] As in, you could see someone's head realistically caved in. And then someone realistically tripping over them, and breaking most of their bones after falling over a railing overlooking a rocky cliff. Oh boy, that would be fun.
If I wanted to play the most realistic game ever, I'd go outside.

Or, you couldn't. You see, people play Video Games to do things you wouldn't be able to do in real life. Would you shoot up a group of twenty people just because they looked funny? You might in a video game. Would you control a white stick that bounces a square to another one of yourself?

That game sucks, it's really boring.
A car going over a sidewalk full of realisticly based people
It's all fun and games until you get killed from a pellet to the chest, even though you're wearing the highest level armor in the game. No one wants to be killed in a single hit, man.

You know what I want? I want a game with Euphoria where you can have seizures. With realistic, physics-based foam.

a game like this would be hella fun, just as long as you can respawn. you could lobotomize your enemies with a powerdrill strap bombs to them and rob banks with them without getting caught, can't do that in gta.
Isn't Operation Flashpint like that? Also, no, I enjoy running through levels, wielding dual Uzi's and blowing my enemies in small pieces while taking almost no damage. I would like the medpacks to return, though.
Where have I played this game before
I remember playing a mod for Quake 2 that's sort of similar to what the OP's asking for. If you got shot in the arm it'd drop off and you'd have to try and shoot with one arm, and it was fucking hard. Sometimes you got shot in the legs though and you'd have to hop everywhere, or crawl if you lost both of them. If you lost both your arms then the only weapon you had was your teeth but then you could bite limbs off others and steal them back. Coolest shit ever.
Hell Arma 2 wasn't even fun for me, so what makes a super realistic game fun?
I remember playing a mod for Quake 2 that's sort of similar to what the OP's asking for. Persistent death isn't as bad as people have made it out to be. You wouldn't play a linear type of game with persistent death. You'd want it in a game where you are free to do whatever, and where you don't really mind dying and starting all over. Roguelikes do this by having tons of different options for you to play with, like races, classes, sub-classes. And each class you can play multiple ways. So if you die, you can assess what you did wrong, or play as something else hoping that it's better. A game like fallout 3 would be perfect, if it only had more depth to your character. As in, all you can really do is be a slight variation of a gun wielding badass. If there was more for you to choose from you could probably play it 1000s of times. Also, missions aren't really fun to do a bunch of times so the game would have to have a couple general missions, and tons of places to explore. So really a game like this could be fun it would just need: Tons of character options(class, race, religion, stats) Tons of weapons(guns, melee, improvised, explosives) Tons of items(potions, armor, clothing, food, drink) A nice AI system so that people react to stuff like they should. No plot Places to explore Persistent death I'd say the best way to do it would be to stray away from realism in terms of content. Meaning that you could do things like have cowboys, ninjas, pirates, aliens, and such all as playable characters, but have the combat/health and such be realistic, but maybe sped up a little. As in, if you get shot in the arm and it's able to be fixed, you can bandage it and it will heal in a few minutes or whatever. Like basically, time flows at realtime in a battle, but out of battle stuff happens faster.
