:argh: Two more days By the way tell us what you think about it
Oh another person from Houston! How much was the shipping ?
Sorry for not responding sooner. Shipping was $20.
Strange, I got it before I got my keys for the games. Oh well. YAY!
give us a review! Can't wait for that box to appear!
being an admin on eGO, I get a 20% discount :P
Or you could just use my code....
20% is available to anyone you just got to find a code or do referal program
being an admin on eGO, I get a 20% discount :P
Wait, I thought we didn't allow your kind on FP. Just kidding, hehe. I'm opening my Novint on Christmas because I don't want to feel greedy. My aunt insisted we use HER email when ordering because she wanted to pay for half of it, so I was like SURE why not... She can't find the game code emails. Darn. :P
Have your aunt contact falconsales[at]novint[dot]com and have her tell them to resend the codes to your email. They'll get everything straitened out.

Mine's coming the 9th; argh, I can't wait! Still haven't gotten my codes yet, though.
give us a review! Can't wait for that box to appear!
Alright, so, I opened the box. The pistol grip was inside the actual Falcon box, just put in there, which is good because I thought it would come separately. Anyway, I plugged it in and installed the drivers, easy enough. I then had to find a spot for it, but it's HUGE, and I have duel monitors so I don't have a ton of room, I had to move my mouse and replace it with the Falcon while I'm using it. I got Haptics Life: 2 (HL:2 mod for it) and gave it a spin. At first it was weird, it didn't really wow me at first, the first thing I noticed is it is hard to control at first. I played on, picking up stuff is cool, it has weight, still being a bitch to control. I got the crowbar and then the pistol, cool enough yet, still a bitch to control. I got to the part where you mount the first turret, that is when I had my first "wow this thing is cool" moment. It actually felt like I would imagine it would feel. I had to hold it with two hands to keep the damn thing steady because the turret shakes all over the place, so it was really cool. This leads me to another thing, it's recoil on recoil. The game has built in recoil, and the thing has recoil, so you find yourself aiming all over the place when trying to hit things. Anyway, by the time I got the first SMG, I could control it slightly better, but still not nearly good. I had a TON of trouble doing precise aiming. The SMG actually felt really cool to shoot, a lot of fun. I found myself SPRAYING BULLETS ALL OVER THE PLACE, because that was my only hope of hitting something. I imagine this thing will be really cool as soon as I learn to control it. It feels like the first time you picked up a video game controller and you over aim everything and it's really hard, but I am sure it gets better. tl;dr: The Falcon is a huge bitch to control (at first) and is big, but it is really cool and worth it. Update: Penumbra is absolutly amazing with this. You can literally fell the whole game. Everything has weight and texture. It is so hard to describe but his is hands down, one of the coolest gaming experiences I have had.
Yes, the pistol grip used to come in a separate box but they recently started putting in the same package. That eliminated one issue of the two not arriving at the same time. You may want to try lowering some of the forces in Haptics Life 2, its default is a little higher than the other Orange Box (or L4D) games. You'll find that EP2 is much easier to control with default. When you do start playing the other Orange Box games I suggest playing at least 10 hours with default before tweaking the settings. It can get pretty tricky when you're not used to the Falcon at all and you start changing things.
I was supposed to get it this week. But I asked my mom when it was coming, and she said she hadn't bought it because it was a "gun simulator" so now I'm off to appeal to my dad.
Aunt just forwarded me the email with the codes in it. Things are looking good. :smug:
Novint's customer support is pretty awesome; I sold a Falcon to my friend just by raving about it to him. He bought it, but he purchased it before I found out about the referral codes. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed, where I could've made 25 bucks. Anyway, I emailed Novint. They couldn't offer me the cash, but they gave me the option of 2 free games from their store; I picked Gish and XLR8.

This works a lot better with the official software, as in, it is better with the officially supported Valve games than with Haptics Life: 2. Now it is super fun. This thing is awesome!
I'm still waiting for my referral code. Going to get my friends to get one too and then we can all play with it.

(At least I think episode one is officially supported.)
Episodes 1 & 2, Portal and TF2 are officially supported. It's built into the engine apparently.

The original date was Friday but they rescheduled to Monday. I wish I could just drive there and get it.
Wait, it went from New Mexico, to Oklahoma, to Kansas, to New Mexico ?
I still don't have any hint of an arrival date. My TV was on Movie one awhile ago and Meet Dave was on, I was sort of watching it on and off not really paying attention. All of a sudden the Eddie Murphy is on a computer putting in a code and a bloody Novint Falcon pops out of the wall in the movie, the movie was mocking me, dammit!
For mine it says with the email from USPS shipping: The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on December 2, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later. And then I got this when I signed up for updates. Service Type: International Parcels Shipment Activity Location Date & Time -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Electronic Shipping ALBUQUERQUE NM 87102 12/02/09 11:11pm Info Received --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was sent the exact same message, still waiting on more news.
yeah hopefully we'll get an update soon
I hope I don't get mine soon. It has been raining non-stop and I probably wouldn't be home when it gets here.
I mailed the Falcon dude about him being positive towards Facepunch, and he was going to answer a bit later, since he was flooded with mails

I can't wait for mine to ship :ohdear:
Getting to learn to use the falcon is a major learning curve, or should I say cliff. After 6 hours of play, I'm able to use the falcon much better than at first. When I played tf2, I was getting a little upset because I was constantly dying. At first I started getting a headache and was a little motion sick because the screen never stayed still. So I decided to play medic for a while to help me control the falcon more easily. Being the medic is fun again. You wont believe how awesome the force feedback is with each class. I found myself constantly tweaking the falcon's turning settings, although I kept the force feedback quite powerful. My aim is much better with the falcon than the mouse now, yet I still have lots to master. This controller also makes simple games fun again. I played portal again and found myself enjoying it much more than at first. Looking to download some portal maps now. this is also an odd request but if you received the orange box key and you already have the orange box and have no use for it. Im hosting a competition for a mod for an old game at is82.com for people to win the orange box through a contest, if you want to donate your key pm me, thanks
