If you don't get what I'm trying to say, basically the package is an hour away from me right now but I have to wait all weekend before it is delivered. The original date was Friday but they rescheduled to Monday. I wish I could just drive there and get it.
If you provide correct shipping details you can stop by the ups office and pick up your package now instead of waiting all weekend
Penumbra is fucking hard with this thing. It's almost impossible to kill the dogs with the new mechanics.
So I've got flu and this is pretty much the first time I've been on the PC in days - I just thought I'd update you guys on what was happening with Tom, Me, the Falcon and Facepunch.
First off I'd like to thank Tom for his generosity - I'm being given a free Falcon for referring you guys to the product. (yay)
Second, I've been talking with him about setting up possible discounts, deals and special events for us regarding the Falcon, but since they're in the US and I'm in the UK, it's tricky to co-ordinate e-mailing (plus they're really bogged down by mails). Anyway, we should hopefully be getting some stuff organized for us.

Sleep tight Thorny.
Congrats on your free falcon means you've got more money for your rig upgrade :P
Congrats Thorny. Bet it was an email like this.
To Thorny,
Thanks for your help promoting the falcon and Merry Christmas

Still waiting on my email back from novint for my referral code. I want to sell these bad boys too.
Why is it that everyone that I know who is actually gaming just a bit, plays on console and says computer sucks? :/

Lucky bastard :v:
I might buy one in the future. Currently, buying a new graphics card is my first priority.
Does anyone know the full list of games that are compatible with the Novint Falcon as is, or only require a patch? So far all I know of is Crysis, Orange Box, and Penumbra: Overture. Just want to see which games I need to get ready while I wait for this beast to get here.

Here's a link to the Novint Site where it shows the games that are currently supported: http://home.novint.com/games/games.php?c=0
With the F-Gen Drivers support is on the way!
Getting to learn to use the falcon is a major learning curve, or should I say cliff. After 6 hours of play, I'm able to use the falcon much better than at first. When I played tf2, I was getting a little upset because I was constantly dying. At first I started getting a headache and was a little motion sick because the screen never stayed still. So I decided to play medic for a while to help me control the falcon more easily. Being the medic is fun again. You wont believe how awesome the force feedback is with each class. I found myself constantly tweaking the falcon's turning settings, although I kept the force feedback quite powerful. My aim is much better with the falcon than the mouse now, yet I still have lots to master. This controller also makes simple games fun again. I played portal again and found myself enjoying it much more than at first. Looking to download some portal maps now.
this is also an odd request but if you received the orange box key and you already have the orange box and have no use for it. Im hosting a competition for a mod for an old game at is82.com for people to win the orange box through a contest, if you want to donate your key pm me, thanks
I know this feeling, because I tried playing TF2 the first time I used a trackball mouse and damn that was frustrating to play, so I think I'll be completing a few single player games before I use the Novint Falcon online.
jeez, I leave the forum alone for a couple days, and look at all catching up I have to do lol
I'll post some responses, with a few at a time, so it isn't ridiculously huge (though the system might condense them into one long post anyhow)...
I really really wanted to get a Falcon while it was on the Christmas sale, I even emailed Tom about an issue I was having trying to order. But sadly I didn't get any reply as of yet :( So I missed the deal, Tom any chance you can private message me about the email I sent you?
I will let you know any details you need in a private message :)
Hey pal670, yes we can still do the deal with you. no worries. I think I responded to everyone who emailed. you might check your spam folder. What is the first part of your email, before the @. You might resend too, just in case tf2contest[at]novint[dot]com
With the F-Gen drivers, would it be possible to program the Falcon to control a RC plane/helicopter/car/boat?
I have a helicopter, and I know it has a gyro, allowing someone to detect the pitch, yaw and roll of the helicopter. This could be translated for the Falcon, allowing you to feel the helicopter while you fly it.
Then all you would have to do, is to hook up the controls with the Falcon, and fly away.
(This would require additional hardware for communication between the computer and the helicopter. But that shouldn't be much harder than making a onboard camera.)
Could that be something you were interested in, Tom?
[editline]07:10PM[/editline]
While I know the Falcon is for gaming mainly, it would be kinda cool if it was some sort of universal controller.
I think that would be awesome. We're basically doing that in one of our professional applications for the US military - the Falcon can telerobotically control military robots. I would definitely be interested in seeing any progress you can make in this - that would be a sweet project.
Never forget those who made you who you are. :)
Believe me, this is a rule I live by. I started on the boards, just testing it out, but I've made so many friends and have learned so much listening to people (both complaints and praise), my interactions on the boards has significantly guided Novint. You have my word I'll never forget how much I owe all of Novint's early supporters, and I'll never stop listening to what you all have to say ;)
thx, tomnovint
[editline]06:55PM[/editline]
yep, looks like they'll be condensed into one long post... get ready for one very long post lol
So is the 99$ deal over? D: Theres no way I can get it for 170$.
Does anyone know how much the shipping costs (The Netherlands)?
shipping costs you can find on the website store when checking out, but before you finalize the purchase (so you can check it there).
Tom Novint posting in here shows true product support.
Does the pistol grip (and without it) have the option to right click because many games have alternate firing modes.
[editline]03:07PM[/editline]
Oh god I totally forgot. Does the falcon support Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield 2?
[editline]03:12PM[/editline]
Holy fuck. The falcon has directional recoil.
yes, on right clicking. The pistol grip has side buttons. no on MW2, but yes on BF2. That said, we'll be coming out with our F-Gen drivers, which should work well with MW2.
What exactly is F-Gen?
F-Gen is our drivers that make the Falcon work with any PC game. Burger gave a good description. I'll be posting on our blog shortly a full description of F-Gen.
Yea I already did that but for whatever reason, it is EXTREMELY weird that you would rather sell these grips like this rather than getting alot of them and putting them on the site. Last time I did give me your paypal email to do the payment thing for a replacement power brick, I got the power brick for free.
The reason is that they are in short supply. For message board posters, for whom I have a soft spot in my heart, we can make an exception and process on.
Can't wait to get mine, but I have a question,
When you use the falcon, must the grip stay perpendicular to the falcon, or does it have some wiggle room.
What I mean is like this:
Notice the hand is slightly turned, is the falcon capable of that?
nope, always stays straight.
Don't do it.
Being 'put through to sales' really means; 'having two trucks full of armored mercenaries drive up to your house, kick in your door, surgically remove your limbs and replace them with Novint Falcons'
That's what happens when people agitate Tom.
dammit Stickmna, I told you not to tell people about that. I'm not going to freakin warn you again - you do not want us to come back again do you?
tl;dr: The Falcon is a huge bitch to control (at first) and is big, but it is really cool and worth it.
Update: Penumbra is absolutly amazing with this. You can literally fell the whole game. Everything has weight and texture. It is so hard to describe but his is hands down, one of the coolest gaming experiences I have had.
I saw your later post on the games that are innately supported too. One thing I'll add, is that it gets better pretty quickly. After 10 hours you'll feel pretty good. After 20 hours, many people are up to speed with their mouse controls. You can improve from there.
I was supposed to get it this week. But I asked my mom when it was coming, and she said she hadn't bought it because it was a "gun simulator" so now I'm off to appeal to my dad.
ah... lol and bummer at the same time. Good luck. Tell your parents you got it for Tiger Woods and XLR8, more than the shooters ;)
I still don't have any hint of an arrival date.
My TV was on Movie one awhile ago and Meet Dave was on, I was sort of watching it on and off not really paying attention. All of a sudden the Eddie Murphy is on a computer putting in a code and a bloody Novint Falcon pops out of the wall in the movie, the movie was mocking me, dammit!
lol on taunting. I love that scene in Meet Dave. Not bad for the Falcon's movie debut - it saved the world. There are a couple Falcons in the recent GI Joe movie too.

thanks for the post. In addition to my above post, please have a look at this video I made, with pic-in-pic. The Falcon gets very intuitive after you get used to it.

Tom you are the coolest CEO ever.

How well is the Falcon doing anyways? I mean financially. Does it cost a lot to make them?
I almost want to return my falcon just so I can feel the joy of interacting with the customer support (but not really, it's gonna be awesome once I can open it on Christmas Morning)
One thing I'd like to ask is: Does it require any maintenance? One thing I hate about my mouse is that the parts that touch the mouse pad get junk on them and I have to take them off multiple times a day and scrape it off (otherwise it's more difficult to move in one direction than the other, so it feels really weird).
Also, In TF2, I want the Sandvich to have recoil.

Your mostly going to be touching the grip. Depends on how much you use it and how sweaty/dirty your hand gets.
Well a mouse it is rubbing against a surface that gets oils from your hand, junk food, and whatever else might find its way there on the mouse pad. The Falcon's moving parts have no contact with that kind of thing. The most you'll have is dust which isn't really enough to gum up the works. Just dust it off every now and again or it'll look tacky. You may need to wipe the grip if you touch it with grimy hands though.
If I had the spare cash, I'd love to get one for use in 3d modelling.
If I had the spare cash, I'd love to get one for use in 3d modelling.
It might be fun to navigate with, but for actual modeling creation it would probably be very inconvenient.
It might be fun to navigate with, but for actual modeling creation it would probably be very inconvenient.
It is possible to model with it by pulling parts of the object to where you want it. Its quite weird when you first try it.
One of your community members is looking into making a plugin to get the Falcon working with Blender. I know personally I would love using the Falcon to make models.
The turtle in Crysis is SO heavy. Like they said...
