It would be nice to have a page or something there stating what is going on with the grips rather than saying SOLD OUT constantly.
I understand that point. The problem is, if I just come out and tell everyone we can do it manually, they'll sell out, and the people who really really want one won't be able to get one. In other words, they actually are out of stock as singles - we're just making an exception for board posters, or people who email us asking for it (it is just one threshold higher of desire). The vast majority of people who have bought one over the past year have gotten a pistol grip as part of the bundle too. I expect to make a new order for a bunch more though, so next year the problem should be behind us.

How well is the Falcon doing anyways? I mean financially. Does it cost a lot to make them?
It is good. We are competitive on our pricing for our customers to get a good deal, but on our normal pricing, less a 20% referral code discount, and less the fee to the referrer, we still make money on each one. Actually, that reminds me - some of you might want to check out our referral program
http://home.novint.com/novint/referral.php
If you can't afford a Falcon right now, you can get 3 referrals, and get a free falcon (you have to pay for shipping) sent. There have been a bunch of people who couldn't afford one, but got one that way.
I almost want to return my falcon just so I can feel the joy of interacting with the customer support (but not really, it's gonna be awesome once I can open it on Christmas Morning)
One thing I'd like to ask is: Does it require any maintenance? One thing I hate about my mouse is that the parts that touch the mouse pad get junk on them and I have to take them off multiple times a day and scrape it off (otherwise it's more difficult to move in one direction than the other, so it feels really weird).
Also, In TF2, I want the Sandvich to have recoil.
Good to see you on our boards Newbienice99. Maintenance won't be a problem - that's not something I hear from customers.
It is possible to model with it by pulling parts of the object to where you want it. Its quite weird when you first try it.
There is a program called Cre8, that you can download and play around with. It isn't a professional tool, but you can pull and push on objects to deform and model them. There is another company that just sent me another modeling product, that I have to try out with the Falcon, which they integrated. Hopefully it will be in good shape.
The turtle in Crysis is SO heavy. Like they said...
Crysis turtles have titanium shells, which is why
Yeah, me too.
And me! :D I already have Orange box.. I'd give the key to my brother, but his computer probably can't even run the games...
[editline]08:46AM[/editline]
Speaking of titanium shells, what would a falcon weigh with a titanium shell?

So, easily thrown and death upon setting it on the ground?

D:
good to have you back with us Tom. I think it's amazing you give up time to post to people and help out.
the same as a turtle in crysis :)
Actually it was so heavy it lifted my Falcon off of my desk. It was intense! It's like I was holding a real titanium turtle.
I'm going to be doing the referral thing, It's gonna be awesome.
Also, I thought titanium was a lighter weight than other metals.
A turtle made out of lead, perhaps?
Edit: Oh god, they're going to kill all the other fish from heavy metal poisoning.
Tom, just wondering, is that deal to TehSpah a unique one off only? As I messaged your main email (tom at novint.com), a few days before the $99 deal ended, but got no reply (probably my fault, not sure what account you used for emails).
And am in a similar situation, it was going to sort of be an impulse buy at that price point, but I really can't go above that.
Turtles can be pretty heavy if they get big enough. I know I found one when I was younger and that thing was a little tough to carry around.
Also, a gold turtle would be heaviest.
99$? What is this madness!?
pal670, or others, I'm happy to do the Black Friday deal still for facepunch folks, as I am getting to know the community and enjoying it. Email tf2contest[at]novint[dot]com, and we'll arrange for it for you.
thx, tomnovint

You are a god amongst men, have my virtual titanium plated babies! :D
So that we could sit and lift them with our Falcons all day!
Also the application that mimics different materials using the Falcon, are there any more apps in the works to simulate things like this?
And I have been hearing things about PS3 support or something similar recently, will that mean an ENTIRELY new peripheral? Or support for the Falcon itself?
lol pal670. I got your email. will respond shortly.
the penumbra series of games is very cool - you can feel objects and textures similar to the tutorial (the materials demo). No specific plans on getting ported to the consoles, but it is something I would like to do. When we do it, I expect it will work with existing Falcons.
thx, tomnovint

Great :) Also the referral program, can it be done by anyone? For instance would it be ok say if I got people that were already going to buy one anyway, to use the referral code, because I would love to give one away for free over Christmas to a lucky forum goer.
yep, anyone can get a referral code, and whoever uses it, whatever the circumstances, will count towards your referrals. thx, tomnovint
I heard that you can use your referral code on your own purchase meaning you could get the 20% off, as well as 25$ for the referral.
I got the orange box cd key but I already have the orange box. Anyone wanna trade my key for a legit fallout 3 key?
Just sent in for a referral code, maybe if you guys would be so kind, if your thinking of buying one, using the code for 20% off, then once I get 3 of them, I'll give away the free Falcon to someone right here on Facepunch.

I emailed the referral services and never got a code back. When can I expect to hear from them?

I am gathering there is very limited staff, and of course if there are lots of orders going through, they are probably all really busy.

And yes, under jobs, they have none available. Sense: this makes none.

Yes, just because there is a sudden increase in business does not mean it warrants taking on new staff, that's a big outgoing each year, what if all they ever made was some money near Christmas then for the next year it's just odd sales? (Hopefully won't happen), that would mean that due to a increase in demand in one such month they would have to outlay another wage (unless it was a temp position, but still that's costly), especially for a small company.
It just means people having to be patient.
YAY! Update on my Falcon
