Huh?
Falcon support
Are you quoting something?
Falcon support
Good man. I was wondering if anyone would try and take that up. Gives Falcon users something to do until Garry feels the need to add it.
I got my shipping information :D ! Once these become much more popular ( They will ) you should make a deal with Newegg. :)
Good man. I was wondering if anyone would try and take that up. Gives Falcon users something to do until Garry feels the need to add it.
Well Garry might put in official support but he might just end up putting in lua bindings and force us to do it ourselves.
Wow.. this is neat. I didn't even know what the fuck this thing was or what it was used for until I saw that video. Still, I rather just use what I've used for years. My mouse.
I wonder how much the shipping would be to Finland. Time to start saving up.
Well, I got my Falcon yesterday, but I'm not allowed to use it til Christmas :argh:
I wonder how much the shipping would be to Finland. Time to start saving up.
About 65-75 dollars.
Well, I got my Falcon yesterday, but I'm not allowed to use it til Christmas :argh:
High five, me neither. Mine arrived on the 7th.
The Novint Pistol Grip is not for sale or use in certain areas including, but not limited to, New York City. Check your local regulations and/or verify with your local customs agency to ensure that this product is suitable for use in your area.
Repost if tom could explain this. I live in Ridgewood, New York and I'm not sure if that verifies
Tom would have to "Check your local regulations and/or verify with your local customs agency to ensure that this product is suitable for use in your area." He wouldn't know off hand.
I just got mine set up! I guess it came in yesterday morning and I didn't even see it. I checked my email today and it said it was delivered at my front door. I shit when I read that. I go open my front door and there it is. This thing is straight nuts. No one has mentioned anything about it's material quality, so I'll give my quick opinion. This thing feels pretty sturdy. The arms and base are almost all some kind of metal, aluminum or stainless steel, I'm not sure. Everything seems pretty good quality and not janky, but the pistol grip seems kind of cheap. It feels real lightweight and trigger is real clicky and not smooth, but it fits your hand perfect. Since grips are so easily changed, I assume they will make more grips in the future. Hopefully a better pistol grip. But the one now is nothing to complain about really, just somewhere that could use improvement.
I talked about it's construction a while back. I can say that the six rods that attack to the grip base are aluminum. I can only assume that the arm that slides into the Falcon itself is stainless steel along with the base. The grip does feel cheaper, but solid enough. You have enough to deal with with the forces without having extra weight from the grip. Get used to the clicking. Personally I think it needs a scroll wheel.

Oh man Tf2 is so hard to play
Oh man Tf2 is so hard to play
Ya at first it is sort of weird. Try changing your configuration a bit. I like my Playing Area and Aim Speed to be high so I don't have to reach the edge as much.
Just ordered the Falcon. After reading this forum, I feel solid on my decision. Can't wait till I get it.
The Novint Falcon is great. Wished more games used it though.
I can't wait for GMod support.
I don't like how N VeNT looks.
me neither. I've been disappointed with N VeNT overall, but we're improving it. F-Gen beta 2, which is about to come out looks much better in my opinion
I love the idea of this and don't have a problem paying $110~ for it, but the shipping is a massive letdown. Especially since how everything else takes forever to ship here to Australia. :(
yep, I hear you. For reference we only charge what it costs us, often slightly less. We don't add handling fees, like most company's do. We'll get it to you as cheaply as possible.
Just ordered my $1.5k computer to go with my new Novint Falcon. Sw33ts.
nice, lol
SUCCESS! I'll take a look when I make the next GMod Patch - at the very least I'll add Lua bindings
we're happy to give you support on this. I can give you tips on integration with F-Gen (very close to coming out), and I'd be happy to share source code, etc., on how we've already integrated into the Source engine. We did some LUA scripting with the Falcon in WoW too. could even look at getting you some Novint stock options or something to do it ;)
Well Garry might put in official support but he might just end up putting in lua bindings and force us to do it ourselves.
we often don't need much access. There's a lot we can do with just state information.
Oh man Tf2 is so hard to play
give it a little time - it will come. It takes about 20 hours before you start feeling yourself again, a bit longer, the better the player. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR EVERYONE I highly recommend leaving the settings at their defaults for at least 10 hours. From that point, tweak as you'd like ;)
The Novint Falcon is great. Wished more games used it though.
Our F-Gen drivers should make a big difference on game support thx, tomnovint
Damn it all! Pistol grip got ordered and sent to ups and it does not have the correct address. Its missing the apartment number :argh:
I got mine today, feels really good so far, the heavy's minigun feels awesome. I can't help but wonder what people will think when they see my screen vibrating in spectator mode or me moving the screen while it looks like I'm acting out the reload motion haha.
I've asked Jimbom to lock this thread so that I can create the proper megathread - we also have a special Facepunch promotion so stay tuned.
jordguitar, send a note to customersupport[at]novint[dot]com and perhaps we can change it. right on Mr. Crabsworth sounds good Thorny. If not too much trouble, please send me an email when the thread is up, so that I can subscribe to it. thx, tomnovint
Tom I hope that your Christmas sales will be really high, I am guessing that will help fund further development of this great product, can't wait to see where you will be with it this time next year. Hopefully by then I will have one, was really hoping to get one for Christmas, but other matters came into play.
Hey pal670, I've enjoyed all our interactions so far. If you decide to get a Falcon in the future at any time, send me an email (use the email I responded to you with, rather than the TF2 one) and I will make sure you get a very good deal. thx, tomnovint

I am still trying my hardest to get the extra funds any way possible (selling some stuff I no longer use, like my PSP and odd bits). So who knows maybe it will be sooner than later :D Can't wait to own one of these, will make lots and lots of videos that's for sure. I am also interested in using it for physics application using certain physics engines, maybe coding similar apps to the demo ones that you use to really show off the abilities. Also Tom would you be interested in getting peoples designs/opinions on other grips? Ofcourse you have yourself and I guess design engineers (possibly, maybe your the maestro there :P), but one thing I have noticed recently is companies making things a bit more open to the community. Ofcourse it is the users at the end of the day that you want to be happy, yet you can't go making 100's of grips to suit certain peoples style, but maybe run some sort of competitions for designs? Let the community vote (after you choose say the 3 best designs), and perhaps put it into production at some point. This way you could ask the community and places like FP to design for instance a wheel grip for the Falcon and take alot of the work out of your own hands, then I don't know, perhaps a revised pistol grip, rifle grip, or whatever. It makes people feel more involved and also as I said, might take some of the long winded design process out of your hands. Just ideas, got too many in my head, I want me one of them bad boys :) How are you liking it so far Zoo?
