I was about to buy it but then I saw the shipping cost for Australia.

It's not worth $200 in my opinion.
Christ, that's worse than here to the UK...
It's a bit of a joke, really.
it looks so delicate
Wait does this work on seven?
And I am kind of worried about how much shipping would be... and I live in the U.S.
Okay. The Falcon works on XP, Vista, and Win 7. I personally have on running on Vista (for my siblings) and Win 7 (for myself). A previous post was talking about the alpha F-Gen drivers. Even then that's wrong, the alpha F-Gen only works on 32 bit Windows. The Falcon will work with 32 and 64 bit Windows machines.
it looks so delicate
It is not, by any means, delicate. The base is solid metal, the internal workings are incased in a thick plastic housing, and the arms are once again metal. This makes for a heavy duty (and just plain heavy) little robot. The weight is needed though because if it was much lighter it would be sliding all over the place. It definatly has the strength to push itself around.
U.S shipping is $19.99
I was going to buy this, then I remembered I don't have $99

I fucking told you:
Too bad it will cost 1 million dollars to ship to australia

U.S shipping is $19.99
not too bad
I just bought mine.
Damn it, I'll have to wait until Sunday to buy it.
Damn it, I'll have to wait until Sunday to buy it.
The offer is only available while supplies last.. Which is worrying :(
Are these things handmade?

Does anyone know what happens if the Falcon in damaged while it's being shipped?
Would I have to pay for the shipping 3 times? (Receiving the damaged Falcon, sending it back and receiving the new one.)
I doubt it since there is a 30 day money back guarantee and from the email I got for purchasing, the company seems REALLY nice to their customers.

Yes but on the site, it says that if you live outside the U.S, and you decide to send it back because you didn't like it, you will have to pay shipping both ways.. Which really got me worried.. :(
Because if it gets damaged, it's $66.50*3.. Which is way more that the cost for the unit itself!
That's $298.50 for one unit.. (assuming they won't pay for any of the shipping.)
I've heard they're really good with shipping though (It's packaged really well.)
[editline]06:36PM[/editline]
They seem as nice to their customers as Valve :D
(Almost atleast..)
I just bought mine! I got a black one. I am so pumped to play Crysis. I also want to see if it works for SMOD: Tactical, that would be hardcore. Once the new drivers are released the community will make force scripts for all (most) popular games so it will support a lot. Man this thing looks cool.
[editline]12:38PM[/editline]
Wow, it works with F.E.A.R. I'm going to try out a lot of games.
So, does the Novint Falcon work on Windows 7, or not?
I don't know whether to get it or not D:

It probably won't work with SMOD: Tactical unless that gets an update or a mod (Oh shit, a mod, for a mod, based on a mod :aaaaa:). You could always try those Alpha drivers though.

I'm about to buy one but I need to know if it will work on Windows 7.
Yes, the new drivers just don't work that allow mouse control.
Is it worth the 100 dollars? If it is I'll probably get it, but I don't know. Although the pistol grip is fuckin' cool.
Wait, does it support windows 7?
It does little to nothing to the processor. There literally is no noticeable difference with or without the Falcon.
Edit: Not sure how this is a dumb post but perhaps I can explain. The game already works out from where damage, movement, and such are coming from. These events are sent to the Falcon and translated by the Falcon into forces. It's not the CPU's job to figure out what to do with the data, just push it out to the Falcon and take in clicks and grip movement. So long as the game has Falcon support the Falcon can understand what it's given. This is why you won't see any difference, it's just putting the already existing event in a readable form for the Falcon. These packets of data are very small and thus require minimal CPU processing to send though the USB.
You are having the computer process more instructions than normal. It will begin to cause the CPU usage to rise.

This is a 2 core processor. It takes in instructions and processes them. It can process 2 things at once making the computer faster but it is limited by the clock rate (eg. 2 GHz). If you give it more to process, it will take longer and will increase the load on the processor.
You would see the HUGE difference if your processor calculate instructions like this:

It is processing one instruction at a time. Try to force too much on it, the system will crash.
I bought it.
I can't wait till I get it.
I'm going to invite people over.
I'm going to be a Cool Kid.
:smug:
(I bought the black one, I think the black looks better than the silver, but why did they have to jack the price up like 10$ for the black color?)

My dad should be ordering mine today for christmas, I can't wait to play with it. I hope that the support for the half life 2 games is built into the engine, so there will be support in most (if not all) sourcemods. It'd be pretty cool playing with the physgun in garrysmod as well, get a script that makes the inny-outy movements of the controller move the prop as the scrollwheel does.

GMod isnt supported. Garry said he would think about it but he isnt responding to anything related to it.
Are there third-party modifications for games? I want support for MW2.
I talked to one of the Novint guys (see my post on page four, that's the shortened version of the email) and in the rest of the email, the guy said he is using it on windows 7 64 bit.
It does work on Windows 7.
Also, I ordered the black version.
I don't want to wait till Christmas :ohdear:
It supports windows 7!
It works on Win 7. I'm using Win 7 Pro 64-bit myself.
Damage during shipping isn't likely. The Falcon comes in a big box and is surrounded by tons of styrofoam. The Falcon is also built like a tank. It's not likely to be hurt when being shipped. I'll take some pictures of the packaging when I get home tonight.
Well I don't know what to tell you. There aren't any reports of extra or added load on the CPU. At least not enough to impact performance. If you can't take my word for it you could ask the guys on Novint's forums ( http://home.novint.com/community/phorum/index.php or contact Novint's support at consumersupport@novint.com. Not much else I can say.
