That 4-as-a-letter bull has really got to go. I want Thief 4, not some strange Thiaf game that uses the Thief font.
For those who don't know, the recent Thief 2 patch works with the original Thief TDP and Thief Gold as well, with some tweaking.
There's a program that provides that, along with enhanced models and textures for thief one in a comprehensive installer, just tried it, very quick and easy to use:

If you still have trouble with the graphics for T1/T2, you can get the TFix patcher and install the Enhancement Pack with it, same for Thief 2.
Thief 4 seems to be more linear and more fantasy shit in it as well. Something tell me that this game is going to be shit.

Eidos Montreal is working on it, they managed to reboot Deus Ex quite well, I personally trust them with the thief series.
Besides there is like barely any info about it released.

Well, I don't know what you've heard, but there's pretty much been no details whatsoever on Thief 4, other than that they're making it. I don't know where you've heard it's going to be more linear.
Also, there was TONS of fantasy shit in the first three games.
This series is probably my favorite series of all time. Got pretty excited to see a thread here on FP.

I'm a little iffy about them because of the forced stealth/cover mechanics in third person in DX:HR.
I know third person is in thief DS but it really doesn't fit the type of game Thief is.

I completely agree. I don't normally like to bitch about consolification but I third person stealth became the norm because there's not normally room for a lean key on a gamepad. Dishonored is the first game with leaning I've seen in a long time, and it's no surprise it's seen as a successor of sorts to Thief.

ah yes, that's why i stopped playing deadly shadows. you had to do some kind of puzzle in the cradle and i just went full NOPE and never played it again. :v: i really should finish it now though.
deadly shadows = most scary game i've ever played. the cradle, oh my god. nearly made me shit my pants at parts

I've been playing thief 2 for the first time. It's pretty cool, I don't like the secondary inventory system where you have to scroll through everything, and the whole door system where you have to stand like 5 feet from it or else it hits you, but it's still a fun game.
