I wonder if Outerra devs know about this or if they are planning to add something similar to their engine.
Everyone elses' shots look so much better than mine, like, barely any atmosphere, no mountains either, and just looks less... vibrant.
Made a .gif showing the vastness of space. Put on orbits to illustrate.

Most planets looks like un-textured testicles for me. How do I fix this?
I've tried this a thousand times. Extract both of the files, take the .84b data folder and put it in the .90 folder, right?
Got to download this as soon as I get home.
Has anyone found black holes and/or "strange" things (Quasar, Pulsars and all those non-standard stars) yet?
Got it fixed, I had moved the .90 data folder into .84b then the whole .84b directory to the .90 and it works.
Extract the early version, then extract/merge/overwrite with the .90 version... Why would you take an earlier version and overwrite/merge its files with a later version
Extract the early version, then extract/merge/overwrite with the .90 version... Why would you take an earlier version and overwrite/merge its files with a later version
Because the OP said to do so?
You do need both, after downloading both, extract them, then copy your data folder from Space Engine 0.84b to the .90 mini directory
But I'll do it that way, thank you.
Looks awesome, downloading.
I'm going to upload this to my seedbox and post it later

Mirror crashes for me as well.
Imagine, in 5/10 years, games like this(Outerra, Infinity) will be common just like games like Just Cause 2 are today. 10 years ago we could hardly imagine games with huge open-ended maps and realistic physics in games were just a myth.
reminds of me of noctis
It's Noctis with way better graphics but less depth.

No. Extract 0.84, and then dump 0.90 on it and overwrite. The installing info in the OP should be fixed as it's misleading.
Do you want one? If so, demand is there? Many people want a game like that.
has anybody found coruscant, tatooine, or kashyyyk?

A galaxy that is not the milky way! For variety.

Awesome planet with life and an orange atmosphere on the very edge of the 'way.
And that's one the Magellanic clouds down in the bottom.

Found two stars right next to each other at the edge of the galaxy.
Binary stars are nothing uncommon.

I'm finding shitloads.
Found two binary stars that had a planet/moon with life on it though, that's kinda cool :buddy:
Hey guys we should play a game like the google map game where you have to find your way home. Except create our own version where you have to find your way back to earth from a distant star.
Also there is a possibility of the space engine being made into a game.
From the developer on a forum:
It made proposals for future game gameplay made on the engine SpaceEngine. What would you like to play? Cosmos, Space Quest, MMORPG? Physics arcade or realistic? It is important that the idea of covering all the features of the engine - use the surface of planets, interstellar and intergalactic travel, etc.
This can be found on his forum use the translator:

Also if you guys are crashing try some of the tips listed in this thread:

The last link does not include the translated link. For some reason it doesn't work so I will quote it here:
Here I will describe the most extended reasons for the drops with the starting, which are revealed. In the [budshchikh] versions many of them will be corrected:)
1) Weak
Most of the letters of the inability to start SpaceEngine come from users that have built-in Intel card office, or some old GeForce 5700, or "gaming" laptop. There is no escape, refresh the system. Do the second version of the engine for weak systems with simplified graphics, texture generation processor, etc. not planned. It would be like to write one more engine. Once again I remind the minimum system requirements, which can be seen on the main page:
CPU of 2.0 GHz
RAM 2 Gb
Video Of geForce 6800, ATI 3850
vRAM 512 Mb
I stress that the special role played by memory card (vRAM). 512 Мб - the absolute minimum. The engine uses a large amount of data that must be in memory (textures, meshes, vbo). The specified card is so, "by eye" on the comparison table, which can be found in interente. They may be wrong But if your system meets the recommended requirements, the engine has to work, because on these maps is under development:
CPU of 3.0 GHz
RAM 2 Gb
Video ATI of 3850 GeForce 9800 GTX, ATI 4870
vRAM 1024 Mb
You can try to start the engine, disabling some extensions, if you do not support or hinder: frame buffer objects, half float, float textures and 3D textures. Information about this is written at the beginning of the log (se.log file in the root folder of the program), after the list of extensions:
Framebuffer of objects of supported
Half of floats of suppoted
Floating-point of pixel of format: GL_RGBA16F_ARB
3d textures of suppoted
If somewhere says unsupported, hence the extension is not supported and the engine itself to disable it. If you seem to be supported by a float, and 3D textures, but the atmosphere of planets monstrous bottlenecks, such as the GeForce 6200 and GeForce 6600, it is best to disable them forcibly. This is done in the file config / main.cfg:
r_IgnoreFBO of false // not to disconnect frame of buffer of objects
r_IgnoreHalfFloat of false // not to disconnect half of float
r_IgnoreFloatTextures of true // to open float of the texture
r_Ignore3DTextures of true // to open 3d textures
Information:
- The atmosphere use float and 3d textures. Turning off of any of them disconnects the atmosphere. The regime HDR of [renderinga] uses float of texture, their turning off disconnects HDR.
- Stars, galaxy and all distant objects in the form of points use half of float. Turning off of half of float does not disconnect star, etc, but it leads to the larger consumption of the memory (they are used float apical buffers).
-The Milky Way and other close galaxies and fogginess use FBO. The regime HDR of [renderinga] also uses FBO. Turning off FBO disconnects the models of galaxies and fogginess and disconnects regime HDR.
2) Do not determined the amount of memory in version 0.84 on the cards ATI. Version 0.90 fixes this, but just in case you can check. A certain amount written in the early se.log:
Total of video of memory: 1024 Mb
Available of video of memory: 978 Mb
if stand zero, indicate volume by hand in [konfige] /config/main.cfg:
r_VideoMemory 1024
does not be worth indicating more than actually there is:)
3) communication OUT_OF_MEMORY or OUT_OF_TEXTURE_MEMORY appears in version 0.84 with the filling of video memory with data. In version 0.90 error is corrected (almost, see. point 6); therefore simply you will establish 0.90 above 0.84.
4) Fail near the planets on [videokartakh] ATI. This sometimes occurs with the generation of [mipmapov] of the textures of landscape. In [konfige] /config/main.cfg there is the parameter, which forbids the creation of [mipmapov]:
r_BugMipmaps of true // true = to forbid [mipmapy]
in version 0.90 it on silence is established into true. If in you [videokarta] Of nVidia, change for false, this will increase the quality of the textures of planets.
5) The fall in the calculation of the atmospheric model. If you do not support geometry shaders, or for some other reason does not generate the model atmospheres (in the folder cache / models / atmospheres), download them from here . In version 0.90 the model is already included in the archive. If you remove them, and new ones are not generated automatically, download them at the link above.
6) A fall or crash after extensive operations throughout the galaxy. Is due to the overflow memory vertex buffer procedurally generated stars. Especially fast memory is filled in the center of the galaxy. In Windows 7 / Vista driver for some reason crashes or hangs, instead push the extra data from memory into the system, as happens in Windows XP. Setting the compatibility mode to Windows XP can solve this problem, but may begin heavy braking. In this case, simply quit the program and run it again, with the right end of your position in the universe will be remembered.
Better translation
I wish this game had black holes. I hope the maker of this game will implement much more stuff :buddy:

Alright, thanks. Unfortunately it still crashes as soon as stars or planets are enabled. I've set my VRAM and have it running in compatibility mode for windows XP.
This game is bigger than you think:
1. Fly away from the milky way until you cannot see it.
2. Turn on auto exposure (press v)
3. Shit bricks
I keep having random crashes looking at a lot of planets and whatnot, but I specified the amount of ram I have and everything!
