Thanks. I'll seed this for a few days. Alright, thanks. Unfortunately it still crashes as soon as stars or planets are enabled. I've set my VRAM and have it running in compatibility mode for windows XP.
Are you running it in full screen mode? the instant I take mine from windowed to full screen it crashes every time... I really wish it didn't but Oh well. The thing is too pretty to complain [editline]7th April 2011[/editline]
This game is bigger than you think: 1. Fly away from the milky way until you cannot see it. 2. Turn on auto exposure (press v) 3. Shit bricks
Holy SHIT I zoom out of the Milky Way, see a few galaxies, think hey cool, even those have billions of stars with procedural on... then I did this.. zoom out until I can't see anything, hit V to make even the dimmest of objects light up and HOLY FUCKASAURUS If you move around while looking at them all fast enough, they actually do look just like the mapped universe, like brain neurons That's the mapped universe, not neurons

This game should be the only thing being discussed on the Game Discussion, fuck Crysis 2, Cortex Command, and BC2. This is where it's at. Also more music to listen to while exploring:
I've got Dibs on making another video to show the scale of Space Engine!
GO FASTER
The mirror is faster. Plus you only have to download one file.
Warm Terra with Life, damn close orbit too.
Boring video waiting to process on the Tube. Goes from Terrain level to zipping past galaxies to see the whole universe in one shot. Should be in 1080HD for Full Screen as well Turns out it won't be in 1080p so all the detail won't be there, god damnit. Should hit up 720p and go full screen to get the best effect
The mirror is faster. Plus you only have to download one file.
the mirror kept giving me errors. "Unexpected end of archive" and "header appears to be corrupted" and such. Maybe it's just me though.
I've been lurking this for a while. I don't really feel like getting this since the only reasons for are just to get some nice pictures.
But it's awesome, and as you know, the measure of a man is how much awesome stuff he has
I've been lurking this for a while. I don't really feel like getting this since the only reasons for are just to get some nice pictures.
It's worth it just for when you first go really far and look at the entire universe.
The vastness of space scares the ever-loving shit out of me. I can't play this for more than a couple minutes at a time.
It's worth it just for when you first go really far and look at the entire universe.
I'm wondering if some crazy son of a bitch will attempt to mod this.

Finally got a halfway decent pic. A quaint little ice world set against a galaxy. But we've all seen stuff like that, so how about we take that same planet and set it against something else.
Anyone tried going to the galactic core to check out our supermassive black hole? Sagittarius A* and its orbitiing stars S1 and the others?

Those are some big rings. I hate the over-sized sun sprite. It completely ruins shots that would otherwise look nice. Like this one:
This game is bigger than you think: 1. Fly away from the milky way until you cannot see it. 2. Turn on auto exposure (press v) 3. Shit bricks
This doesn't seem to work for me. Even with auto exposure on I just see one or two galaxies.

[editline]8th April 2011[/editline]
I'm wondering if some crazy son of a bitch will attempt to mod this.
The creator says he will be making a game out of the space engine, but God knows how long that will take. As for mods, I don't think the community is big enough yet for community content to be readily available. [editline]8th April 2011[/editline]
Those are some big rings. Too much shininess and bloom. [editline]April 8th, 2011[/editline]
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4861882/Facepunch/flare.png Place on SpaceEngine\data\textures\common
Way too small. Apparently it's not showing up.
Oh wow, I set the window size to 1024x1024, set the FOV to 90° and took a bunch of screenshots, then threw them at Microsoft ICE without expecting much, but it actually created a perfect 360x180° Lat/Lon Map: :v: (Warning, huge!)
Anyway to make it run more stable? Crashing on start, sometimes it gives me a minute to explore, then crash again. [editline]8th April 2011[/editline] Got it working. All the planets are white though...
God damn...
Hmmm...someone wanna mod this make a certain indie recreation of little green guys?
How about no.
Just something whipped up
Well, here's a smaller flare: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/aVR0A.png[/img_thumb] (Save it as flare.png in data\textures\common) It's just a smaller original one. Here's what it looks like with auto exposure on: Don't know if I'll actually use it or not though.
This song + space engine = Mind blown. It remains epic whilst also slightly peaceful and with an overall tune that portrays the sheer vastness of the universe. :v:
This program is unbelievable. [editline]8th April 2011[/editline]
The vastness of space scares the ever-loving shit out of me. I can't play this for more than a couple minutes at a time.
I'm fine playing this usually, but I have to go back to the Sol system every now and again. The most creeped out I've been was when I zoomed out past all the galaxies, until there wasn't anything but blackness. I was going at something like a thousand gigaparsecs/second, and I lost sight of all the galaxies completely. I tried to go back and they just weren't there. D: That brief feeling of hurtling through complete darkness and having totally lost your way...
How about no.
Why not?
