Great simulator. Too bad it crashes almost every time you want to adjust your view.
Great simulator. Too bad it crashes almost every time you want to adjust your view.
Run it in Windows XP Compatibility mode and only use Catalog stars. This fixes 99% of crashing. At least it does for me. Certain machines react differently. (What do you expect, it's a Russian made game..)
This is awesome. Thank you so much to those that posted it. I've put up another mirror on my site and anyone having trouble with the other one can grab it here applesforgeeks.com/SpaceEngine 0.90 mini.zip I also made a post about this on my site, so I hope you don't mind zombii. I gave you credit for the find. http://applesforgeeks.com/space-engine-free-universe-simulator/ Also another "pull back from earth video" Man, this thing is awesome. Hey that looks ne CRASH I'm going to go check out that star over the CRASH Let's play with space engine toda CRASH CRASH CRASH CRASH Fuck this shit I'm going to go watch televi CRASH Fuck you universe let me explore you I like you :saddowns: [editline]11th April 2011[/editline] Comfort terra with life: I wish Earth's atmosphere was coloured like that [editline]11th April 2011[/editline] Oh my god that planet's moon is beautiful
so after figuring some of the formating it seems that adding just 950 comets crush the performance to 1/50 of original .... 2k asteroids the same ... strange anyone figured simple way how define new stars ? (visual wise, texture wise)
Well, here's a smaller flare: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/aVR0A.png[/img_thumb] (Save it as flare.png in data\textures\common) It's just a smaller original one.
Much better.
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. :v: And the comments below me are why I love Facepunch so much.
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. :v:
bring your towel
And most of all, don't panic. The smaller flare isn't working for me, argh.
i disabled flares, anyway it's really shame that the engine seems to not produce procedural asteroids and comets also comets compared to Celestia don't show any trails (in celestia they capable to have multiple tails and they reflect if there are more stars (binary/trinary system and gravitation forces) i also failed to force comets shape (no matter on definitions about not being ball-like) ... while importing some TNOs and beyond Neptun objects i came to conclusion that engine for now can't handle more than 1k objects (asteroids/comets) per star system (optimum is under 500) ... for some reason inserting some specific characters cause the engine crash if You select the object with it in definition
Are systems with three+ stars possible or only binary
This game is so awesome.
Are systems with three+ stars possible or only binary
i didn't found any procedurally generated ones, so hard to tell actually the whole procedural part is completely hidden/locked and undocumented you can define trinary systems manually but the format is hard to work with, easy to break and no documentation again ... also it seems the engine is written on NVIDIA or with NVIDIA SDK/docs due to amount of issues with ATI cards i see
Are systems with three+ stars possible or only binary
I've come across a few with three stars, but they're pretty uncommon. I think the program still labels them as Binary, actually.
This program is amazing!! Some pictures I got from it. This is my personal screenshot dump. See all of those dots around the sun (click on the picture)? Those are the rest of the planets in the system. Neat!

Amazing stuff so far. I only wish that it had at least a simplistic/basic GUI, I'd like to see some options when selecting anything, for instance selecting a planet, seeing its descriptions/details and so on, but also having a GUI to land on it or being on a synchronous orbit and stuff like that. It's in beta right now so maybe the guy(s) making this will do some GUI for it at some point. But so far it's absolutely amazing.
Press F1.
For me either the program or my computer crashes every time I zoom in close to a planet. Help? :( [editline]12th April 2011[/editline] Sometimes it doesn't crash, and then the planet just looks like this:
and here let me represent my improved corona :) ... Exposure 2.0 so it's better visible, Bloom 0.3 sadly it seems the engine supports only 1 corona type (uses texture 3 times (in x,y,z axis) to map it on center of the star) now i wonder if it can support animated picture or else ... [img_thumb]http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/8927/spaceengineexe0055112.jpg[/img_thumb] and different angle [img_thumb]http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/2046/spaceengineexe0055039.jpg[/img_thumb] p.s. if you have crashes near planet or asteroids goto main.cfg and try change r_BugMipmaps to true
Please give me that corona. I'm thirsty
here it goes http://www.gamefront.com/files/20216564/corona.png took quite some tinkering (i have also several darker ones) to get rid of the uneeded glitches and correct size/format :)
Blues-rock actually goes really well with exploring. Makes you feel like a space-trucker hauling deuterium from system to system
Blues-rock actually goes really well with exploring. Makes you feel like a space-trucker hauling deuterium from system to system
Or a space cowboy, just waiting for the next bounty? :v:
Oh my god Binary star system 14 planets 2 of which are warm Terras with life 1 ringed comfort Terra, the moon of which is a comfort Terra with life WHAT, SON
with 33% chance to find life supporting planet it's easy, try 3% or less :)
